Newly renovated 1928 Cottage located just a short walk to downtown Estes Park! Everything is New! You'll know you are in the mountains with the cozy mountain decor while still providing all the comforts of home!

PLEASE NOTE:
- This is a non-smoking, no pet property.... Adult(s) renting cottage must be 25 years or older. Child 16 years or older with an adult is welcome.

- This cottage is located fairly close to W. Wonderview Avenue – which can be a very busy road with traffic heading in/out of the Rocky Mountain National Park North entrance. You will hear traffic noise. It is a great spot if you enjoy watching cars & bikes pass by while sitting under the covered porch.

Enjoy your evenings relaxing in the cozy living room enjoying a glass of wine in front of the fireplace (gas fireplace unit is controlled by a wall switch! ambiance on.. ambiance off). The patio door provides ample natural light with views of the Lumpy Ridge (mountains).

The kitchen allows for a full range of meal preparation by including pots, fry pans, pizza pans, cookie sheets, casserole dishes and all the 'gadgets' necessary to make most any meal. Appliances include NEW stove/oven, refrig, microwave, dishwasher, disposal, coffee maker, toaster & crock pot!

This cottage is connected! WiFi & Streaming Service are provided. There is also a BlueRay DVD Player & a small collection of DVDs. There are two Flat Screen TVs throughout this cottage - with the Living Room being a Smart TV - providing ability to log into your own movie accts (Netflix/Amazon/etc.) or watch YouTube Videos, etc.!

The Queen bedroom features a new bed, walk-in closet, luggage racks, wall mounted TV, ceiling fan above bed, reading lights & night stands with clocks. All pillows & linens are new and linens are 'fragrance free/dye free'.

The forced air natural gas furnace provides comfort throughout during the colder days/nights. The two ceiling fans (dining area & Queen bedroom) help circulate the air during a warm summer day. The Water Heater is an on-demand unit providing endless hot water.

Have your morning coffee on the front patio or enjoy comfortable seating on the back covered porch while viewing the mountains or watching for elk & deer. This cottage is a wonderful place to enjoy your Estes Park vacation!

We booked this place because of the location and cleanliness reviews. I will say, it did not disappoint!The owner of this place is what sets it apart. She was quick to respond, very helpful, and genuinely cares about her guests. If we visit again, we will surely be booking the same location.

Spectacular stay very close to the main strip. Easy to navigate in and out of and the cottage itself was amazing. Perfect for a couple getaway over a holiday weekend. Would definitely stay there again

Wonderful Valentines weekend!!

The cabin was excellent. Very clean and well kept. The little amenities provided a nice touch. The owners offered early check-in and late checkout, which was greatly appreciated. The cabin was close to all of our favorite spots at Estes Park. It was like a little home away from home. We would highly recommend. And we will be back next time we’re in Estes.

Came into Estes to see Elk . We were not disappointed. Cabin was so beautiful and bed was extremely comfy. The host had snacks and coffee and all we needed to make this stay memorable.loved everything about the area . Very friendly people.

House was very clean and comfortable. The owner responded to questions very quickly and even offered an early check in which is great after a day of traveling! Super close to downtown and great access to Fall River entry. Saw elk across the road from our house multiple times!

Perfect weekend

We really can’t say enough nice things about this cabin! Nancy was so accommodating and easy to communicate with from check in to check out. The cabin was immaculately clean and had everything we needed. The location is perfect for easy entry into RMNP. Close to downtown. We loved sitting on the back porch drinking coffee in the mornings. We hope to stay there again next year!

Great Stay at Lazy Bear Cottage

This was our second stay at Lazy Bear. The location is convenient to downtown Estes Park. The cottage lacked nothing we needed to enjoy our stay. Kitchen especially was complete, even with some seasonings, extra virgin olive oil, and a variety of pots and pans. Immaculate throughout the cottage. Good internet connection. TV and DVD player worked well. We'll be back.

This cottage is a perfect getaway. The hosts have thought of everything to make your stay special and feeling pampered. I appreciated extra things like frozen cooler packs for your coolers, shampoo, information about the park, and a cute little snack badket. This has been the best vrbo I have stayed at. Everything was easy with communication with the hosts. It felt like a home away from home. I will return. Thank you so much for sharing your cottage.

Lovely!

This was the first trip to Estes Park for both me & my husband. This adorable little cottage was perfect for us. Great communication with Nancy. We appreciated the clear, minimal checkout requirements. The property was cozy, clean & well stocked. Very convenient to Rocky Mountain National Park, downtown Estes Park, the Stanley Hotel & a lot of great restaurants, shops, breweries & distilleries. We loved the outdoor seating for enjoying the weather when we were "home". There was traffic noise from Wonderview Ave, but not enough to bother us. It was very cool to see elk come through the neighborhood the last 2 days we were here. This place is a great deal!

Adorable getaway cabin for going and doing in Estes Park!

Lazy Bear Cottage is a super clean updated cabin within walking distance (less than 10 minutes) to downtown Estes Park. It’s immaculate! Nancy is so generous with the items available in the cabin from any utensil or appliance needed to make up wipes, coffee and snacks! She made us feel so welcome and was very open to any questions we may have had. Some positives that stood out to us: - location! We walked down the hill to Estes downtown several times during our stay. It was so nice not having to find a parking spot - digital key entry! How nice it was to not have to keep up with a key during our vacation! - very well stocked! We lacked for nothing! The only thing to consider (I won’t say “negative” because there really are no negatives to this property!) - you will sleep with the window open during the warmer months and it is on a road where you will hear cars. Just bring earplugs if this bothers you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here 🙂

Everything about our stay at Lazy Bear was perfect. The communication from our hosts was the best we've experienced using VRBO for years. immediately after we made the reservation, we were sent detailed instructions, maps including pictures, option for early check in, info about the timed entry at RMNP, and keyless entry process including pictures!. When we arrived there were snacks for our hikes and hand written notes and article about bear safety, RMNP hike maps, local newspaper(interesting!) and a map of downtown Estes Park. We have had several VRBO stays, where the hosts provided one roll of toilet paper and a quarter roll of paper towels for a three day stay. Lazy Bear had an abundance of TP, PT, and even paper plates and baggies. The location was perfect and easy to find. All the utensils, large bowls for salad, plates, cutting boards, towels and more were provided. The bathroom was clean, neat, abundantly supplied with hand soap, night lig and makeup remover toweletts! The fireplace was so easy to operate, and hosts even provided throws that i used to snuggle up with on the super comfy couch and read on chilly mornings before our hikes. Indoor lighting and natural lighting was superior. Everything was in perfect working order, easy to operate and clean (sliding glass door, thermostat...). The bed was very comfortable and warm, and there were reading lamps and end tables on both sides of the bed! The way our hosts used this space was incredibly efficient!

This property was everything we like in a rental! It was clean, nicely decorated, very well supplied with everything and more of what you needed and walkable to places of interest(uphill walk back to cottage, but that was okay with us). The owner was extremely considerate and easy to work with. Offered us early check-in and late check-out, because the schedule allowed it. We would certainly stay there again.

My wife and I just stayed and the property was great. It had all the amenities. The main road can get a little loud with the windows open. But it was close to everything! The hope was nicely appointed and had everything we needed. Would stay again.

The owners, Nancy and Ken Kratky, both grew up in Eastern Nebraska. In 1996 they moved to Colorado, got married in Hidden Valley, Colorado and honeymooned in Estes Park. In 2001 they returned to Nebraska and stayed eleven years. During that time they continued to return to Colorado multiple times per year, always visiting Estes Park, and always casually looking at real estate property with the dream of ownership some day.

In December of 2011, while on a vacation to celebrate their December birthdays, they came across a quaint little cottage in a historic little area for sale. It needed lots of attention, but they saw it's potential, and knew they could give it new life to fulfill their dream of a rustic mountain get-away. They put in an offer and the offer was accepted on Ken's Birthday! It became a 'labor of love'! And, thus, BLACK BEAR COTTAGE (Lazy Bear Cottage's big brother) has now been a vacation rental property (VRBO #644057) since 2014!

Then, in the Spring of 2015, they purchased another cottage to renovate to give them purpose and to take their minds off of medical issues. Working very part-time on the cottage it was eventually completed, and thus, LAZY BEAR COTTAGE is now the little sister to Black Bear Cottage...
