SEMI-OCEANFRONT Resort Rodanthe - Take time to reflect at SOLAR REFLECTIONS. This mid-level condo in private Resort Rodanthe provides easy access to the beach along with other convenient resort amenities such as an elevator in the building, picnic area with tables and charcoal grills, outdoor showers, wide boardwalk to the beach and a large community swimming pool (open May - September). Appreciate the ocean view from the furnished private balcony with slider access from both the great room and master bedroom. Comfortable seating surrounds the flat screen TV/DVD and the well-appointed kitchen provides the tools for the chef in the family to prepare the evening's meal. The dining table seats 6 alongside the breakfast bar with additional seating for two. At the end of the day retreat to the queen master bedroom with private full bath or second bedroom with two single beds and semi-private full bath shared with the great room. Don't pause for much reflection when deciding whether to book this island retreat. It will surely book quickly. This home does not have a landline.

New for 2024: All TVs are now Smart TVs with streaming capability. New carpet will be installed for 2024.

We had stayed in another unit in this condo building prior, so we knew what to expect. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. There is some additional work to be done to fix up some of the fixtures/features of this condo, but overall can recommend. Could stand to update the entertainment options for bad weather days.

Property was very clean, a/c was good but unit really needs a ceiling fan in the bedrooms since people are in the sun a great deal when on vacation. Clothes dryer takes a long time to dry, maybe due to the washer not getting enough water out of clothes, towels, etc. Condo is spacious and comfortable for 4 people. Elevator worked fine and pool was clean also.

Summary

The unit was very comfortable. Just two things. Maybe more detailed instructions on which building and floor the unit is in. All I had was Solar Reflections #807. The name was not on the unit and #807 was a bit confusing in three floor building. Also, after a few days we realized the balcony door didn't lock.

Love this location

The condo is in a great location and very quiet. Easy walk to beach or the sound. Nice clean pool for the condo. However, the outlets were faulty and locks broken on sliding doors were my main concern. Contacted property owner and received a text that work order had been issued. No further fiollow-up and saw a note from previous renter they had same electrical problem. Hopefully, they will fix ASAP

Ocean views and easy access

This was a clean rental with great location and fair price. We loved the view and easy access to beach. The condo has updated kitchen with granite countertops. The decorations and furniture was a bit dated but we knew that going in and didn’t mind. The kitchen was well equipped which was great as we prepared most of our meals there. As far as maintenance, we had a a couple of issues. The air conditioner did not work well and the condo would be 80 degrees by evening though outdoor temps barely reached 70 during our stay. We were able to tolerate be opening windows and patio door at night. Also the carpet is quite worn but the place seemed clean. Overall we enjoyed this place and found it comfortable.

Solar Reflections

4 day delay due to mandatory evacuation due to Hurricane Dorian could not be helped. When we finally arrived to the unit on Sept 10, 2019, we got stuck in the elevator. Talked to 3 tenants and a resident. We saw 2 elevators with signs posted on them that the elevators were not working. The 3 tenants/renters said there was another elevator but wasn’t sure if it was working. We found it and it appeared to be a working elevator. No out of order sign was posted. We took up 2 bags of groceries, came back down, loaded a cart with our luggage and got in the elevator with the cart, pressed the “3 “ button, and the elevator stopped working. Door would not open. Finally after pressing all of the buttons the door finally opened and we got out! A resident who lived in the building came out of her unit to see if we were OK. She explained to us that she lives there and that she had gotten stuck in the elevator the day before. She also said that she had called maintenance on Monday and no one had come to work on the elevator yet. I have a pacemaker and my husband had back surgery six weeks ago. There was no way that we could have gone up and down three flights of stairs for five days. So we locked the unit, left and came home. Tired angry and disappointed is no way to spend your vacation. So in answer to your question the rental unit appeared to be in great shape. Everything looked nice, wonderful view, just wish we could’ve stayed. We have trip insurance and have put in a claim for the entire week, since not having a working elevator breached the rental contract.
