The perfect getaway. Carpenter’s Cozy cottage! 10 minutes to TIEC. Less than a mile to Adewehi Healing Center and Beneficial Food Store. 3 miles to Columbus (restaurants, groceries, banks, etc). 20 minutes to Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area. 10 minutes to Historic Tryon or Saluda. 25 minutes to Hendersonville. 40 minutes to The Biltmore and Asheville. Quiet, restricted neighborhood. Dead end street. 1.5 acre wooded lot w/hiking trail. Off street parking in private gravel driveway. Relax on the covered front porch or the large rear deck w/outdoor furniture (table and chairs w/umbrella) and gas grill. 2 bedroom - 1 bath w/shower/tub. Bedroom one has 1 Queen bed (Nectar mattress). Bedroom 2 has 2 twin XL beds with 1 twin XL trundle bed. Living room has a twin XL “daybed”. Home has hardwood floors throughout. Central heat and air for year around climate control and a wood burning stove (free firewood provided) to take the chill off as the seasons change. Kitchen is equipped with modern stainless steel appliances - fridge, double oven, microwave/convection oven, dishwasher, disposal. Washer and dryer (iron and board available). Wifi. Internet TV with Dish TV satellite service. DVD player with an assortment of movies to watch. We are continually adding features to this property so if there is something we don't have, that you want or need, please let us know so we can provide it. No smoking.

Tryon Equestrian Center visit

The cottage was charming and clean as could be. It is located very close to the Tryon Equestrian Center, which is where we visited for four days. Very convenient for us!! Everything went well!!

Lovely Home-Great Stay

Quiet Cottage

We have stayed at Gary’s many times. It is located in a quiet neighborhood. It is a two bedroom 1 bathroom rustic house. It has everything we need for a long weekend. It is always clean.

great for a Tryon visit

this cute house was just as described in the listing, in a quiet area about 15 min drive from Tryon. It is a rustic cabin, extremely clean, furniture a mix and match style, but bedding and mattresses were very comfortable, and shower had plenty of pressure and hot water. Lots of bottled water is provided but tap water is also good. a rooster lives nearby -- can be heard in the morning, but not loud enough to wake you up. We thought he was a fun neighbor! We had a question for the owner and he responded within minutes.

Another great stay!

This is our second time staying here for a horse show. This place is clean well stocked and has a wonderful location that is close to the show and to Columbus for groceries and restaurants. It is always at the top of my list when I’m booking a place to stay for a show.

Perfect for TIEC

It was the perfect property for us. We have stayed in a lot of different places when showing at TIEC, and it has always been a challenge to strike the balance between distance to the show and proximity to grocery and restaurants. This place did both. It was clean and well maintained, and we really enjoyed it.

Private retreat after long days!

The location was ideal for us, as we had early mornings and long days at TIEC. The quiet and private setting allowed us to relax and unwind, while enjoying the amenities of the property. The property owner was there when we arrived to greet us and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend.

Country Charm

Gary’s house is a rustic house in the country with a rooster and everything. It’s 15 mins from TIEC. It’s is very comfortable with everything you need. It’s very quiet and peaceful. The linens and rooms are clean and the beds comfortable.

BEST HORSE SHOW LODGING IN NC!!

I’ve stayed here twice with a group of friends while horse-showing at FENCE or TIEC. Excellent location, clean & safe! We’re already planning the next time we can stay here.

Great Cozy Cottage

Great place and great location especially for going back and forth to TIEC. Anything you could possibly need or want was in close proximity. My husband, daughter, son-in-law, grandson and myself enjoyed this cozy cottage for the weekend while our daughter was showing at TIEC. We would definitely book again!

Great getaway cottage

We visited for the music festival at TIEC. This was an excellent location. It was close to town, yet tucked away for peace and quiet. It was also very convenient to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The owner was great to deal with. We will be back to try the nearby zip lining.

Perfect for TIEC Competitors

Easy drive to TIEC and restaurants, groceries, Lake. Lure, etc. A/C was great on hot days. Plenty of hot water for 4 people to shower. Washer and dryer a plus. Would definitely stay here again.

A Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer by trade, I enjoy fixing, building and improving things. Although I grew up in Ohio and traveled during my younger years, Columbus, NC is now home and has been for 20 years. I love the outdoors and this area has so much to offer.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this house for the second time because we love it so much. We live next door so it serves as a guest house and rental house when it's not being used as a showroom for my bed building business. I build custom solid wood bed frames as a sideline business and the beds at this property were all built by me. Both the queen bed and the laundry room table in the house were built from lumber cut out of the backyard on the property. Although it's a small cottage, it's full of character and big on charm! Come visit and you will know what we mean!

If you are wanting to book accommodations for a larger group in separate living areas, there is another larger house near this property that is available - "Fox Mountain Retreat" is listed on the "other guy's" website Let us know if we can assist with arranging a coordinated stay.

What makes this property unique

This cottage features wood. Wood floors, old barn wood kitchen cabinets, old barn wood door trim and walls, and wood bed frames (hand built by the owner.) The kitchen table and benches are also "hand-made" as well as the several bedside nightstands, end tables and the "bartop" table/desk in the laundry room. To top it off, there's a wood burning stove to make you feel like you've stepped back in time (while watching your favorite movie on the HDTV!)
