You are in Franche-Comté 15 km from the Citadel of Belfort, close to Alsace, Switzerland (20 minutes by car) and Germany (50 km).
Discover Belfort and its Territory. A land full of tumultuous history which will give birth to this "Territory" after the heroic resistance of the Belfortains during the War of 1870. A heart named Belfort, a flowered and colorful city, dotted with parks and gardens where the art of living is a forbidden treasure. Sheltered by the ramparts of Grand Vauban, it is guarded by its citadel and its famous Lion of Bartholdi.
Do not miss :
The Lion of Bartholdi: The Lion of Belfort, historical monument erected by Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, is the symbol of the freedom and the heroic resistance of the belfortian troops led by colonel Denfert-Rochereau, facing the Prussian army of 1870- 71.
Les Eurockéennes: Each summer, the first weekend in July, the Eurockéennes festival is the great rock musical event in the East of France! The Eurockéennes take place on the peninsula of Lake Malsaucy, 10 km north of Belfort. 4 scenes, one of which is a lake, offers a wide panorama of music, from rock to electro, including metal, French songs, pop music, folk and reggae. The gite "Le Ginkgo" is located 4km from the site…
The FIMU: Each year during the Pentecost weekend, the city of Belfort and the students of the Urban area organize the FIMU, International Festival of University Music. For three days, the FIMU welcomes nearly 2,500 amateur musicians and singers from 30 different countries. All musical styles are represented: classical music, new music, jazz, current music, brass bands, choirs, opera ... Access to all of the concerts is completely free. It thus allows a family audience, music lover or simply curious to discover new sounds or appreciate more classical formations. The gite "Le Ginkgo" is located 20 minutes from the site…
Le Ballon d'Alsace: Located in the heart of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Natural Park, at the convergence of three regions of character, the Ballon d'Alsace offers all the pleasures of a successful stay in summer and winter. A large classified national site, this medium mountain is the highest point in the Southern Vosges with its 1,247 meters above sea level. The Ballon d'Alsace: it's clean air, sport and nature!
Discover in Franche-Comté sites classified as World Heritage by UNESCO: the citadel of Besançon, the Saltworks of Arc and Senans and more recently the saltworks of Salins-les-Bains. At the entrance to the Territoire de Belfort, on the Haute-Saône side, visit the Ronchamp Chapel, designed by the world-renowned architect Le Corbusier and stroll around the Plateau des Mille Etangs, a veritable mosaic of colors. The Pays de Montbéliard is only a step away ... Discover the history of the Dukes of Württemberg. Enjoy the many collections of cars gathered in the heart of the Peugeot Museum in the city of Sochaux. Further south, follow the Jura wine route.
Discover the many natural riches of Alsace. A few steps from the Territoire de Belfort, hike in the southern part called Sundgau. Further north, join the Wine Route where you will have the pleasure of tasting the main Alsatian grape varieties with floral, fruity or spicy aromas. Visit the many villages that characterize this colorful region: Riquewihr, Ribeauvillé, Eguisheim ... Let yourself be surprised by unmissable sites: the famous Haut-Koenigsbourg castle which overlooks the city of Sélestat, the ecomuseum of Alsace, the city of the train in Mulhouse. And don't forget, as Christmas approaches, to shine around the various markets animated by living nativity scenes and Alsatian legends!
Discover Germany and Switzerland. By taking advantage of the new “Franco Vélo Suisse” cycle path, you will soak up the magnificent landscapes of Switzerland. In the south of the department, discover not far from Delle, the rich heritage of the city of Porrentruy and shine around its watchmaking circuit. Nearby, let yourself be amazed by the charms of the medieval city of Sainte-Ursanne. Bask on the banks of the Rhone-Rhine Canal and let yourself be guided to Germany, in the Black Forest for a romantic break on the shore of Lake Titisee, renowned for the color of its water… .clear as crystal. Stop in the historic center of the city of Freiburg im Breisgau, a global showcase for sustainable urban development.
