About the host
Hosted by Susie Wallace
I grew up in Archer City. My parents were both in education. My mom taught 4th grade. My dad was my principal! We loved Ruidoso. We would come every summer to watch the horse races at the RD Racetrack. Good memories! So that is why I bought property here and lived in Ruidoso permanently for eight years-I love: summers when it is cool at night and morning, attending the horse races, the smell of fireplaces and picking apples in the fall and the snow in the winter. The only thing that I dislike about Ruidoso is White Sands visiting us on REALLY windy days. My favorite saying is: "If you build it, they will come". If you believe in something enough, you need to build it. I hope that you enjoy your stay. My favorite scripture: Phillipians 4:6 (Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God). I am a watercolorist and have a few of my paintings at the condo. I don't have a Website but I am on Facebook: Watercolors by Susie. Again, I have built it and hope that you might want to visit the great little Village of Ruidoso- cool weather, wildlife, hiking, horseback riding or just relax on the deck, have your coffee in the morning or wine/cocktails in the afternoon. I am supposed to tell you also about my favorite movies-anybody that knows me knows that it would be any movie with Paul Newman, whether I am in Archer City or Ruidoso. Travel: I plan to make it back to Italy and take my paints. I did go to Sicily October 2024. I loved the buildings/churches, cobblestone roads in town, landscape, wine (of course), narrow passageway to some ones home, etc. I didnt like the flight to and from. I am 5' 6", mostly legs so I didnt like enjoy being cramped in the seat. Authors: Jan Karon and Larry McMurtry. Food: Philly Cheese Steaks at Flaming Burgers downtown, Burritos and Green Chilies Cheese Burger at Club Gas
Why they chose this property
Why this property: I purchased a Condo in the C-Units in 2001 as an investment. My mom and I would come for long weekends. Occasionally my mom, boys and myself would come and spend time together in the mountains. In 2003, I purchased a home in Ruidoso and moved here permanently. A year or two later, I purchased my 2nd condo (current). Then I started downsizing! I moved back to Texas, sold my house and my first condo but kept my current condo. I love being in Ruidoso: good memories, great friends, art group, church at the Racetrack, spell of pine trees, fireplaces, blue skies, snow, wildlife (elk, bears, deer). I love it all!
What makes this property unique
I love being in Ruidoso: good memories, smell of pine trees and fireplaces, blue birds on the walking path around Links Golf Course or seeing the elk in the Links Golf Course (!), blue skies, snow, wildlife (elk, bears, deer), friends, art group, church at the Racetrack. I love it all! Snow: it is so peaceful in Ruidoso when it snows, time to slow down and enjoy your time
