The House was very clean and tidy. Beds were very comfortable and the heaters in the rooms worked very quickly so was very warm in the house. The located was the perfect distance from the main city center. Bona was extremely helpful with any questions I had prior to checking in. The check in was super easy, and the house was easy to find if you read the instructions sent its very straight forward. Would happily stay here again! We really enjoyed it.
Myself and others stay at this house for a hen do weekend, we had the most amazing time! Amazing views, brilliant host! The house is beautiful! Thank you again for having us!!
Amazing place, just all around very lovely, hot tub was great, only problem I found is it doesn't sleep 14, theres 3 double beds including a pull out couch and 2 singles, then 2 beds u can set up and then another couch which fits 1 person, in total thats 11 people, so unless the other 3 are staying on the floor, I don't know how it sleeps 14, unless it's set up differently when 14 people stay, I wouldn't know because I only took 10 people
A lovely, welcoming property, which was perfect for a catch up, with ample beds, towels and bedding, enough utensils for cooking a quick meal before relaxing with drinks on the patio, in the hot tub, in the airy living space or all of the above! Everything was well appointed and easy to find, loved the en suite wet room. The chickens provided unexpected entertainment and the neighbouring sheep and alpacas were very chill. Also jealous of the garden, so beautiful! Thanks so much for making us so welcome!
The barn was clean, but there was a lot of flies, called to the local shop but they had no spray, Obviously not the owners fault but maybe something to be looked into for the next guests. We had a large party of adults and one baby, beds where all clean but I’d say a little cramped for that many camp beds to be put out as we where blocking doorways and climbing over each other. Also the games pool table pocket was broken so couldn’t be played with without balls flying everywhere, again something that can hopefully be fixed before the next guests. But all in all we had a good stay, we all managed to get our heads down and it did the job
On arrival the property didn’t live up to the pictures on the site. Dated & required a good lick of paint. The surface in places had sticky ring marks indicating it hadn’t had a Covid clean as stated. The onsuite bathroom drain had a large amount of hairs so we declined to use the upstairs facilities & used the downstairs shower.
First of many away days with VRBO & unfortunately this property hasn’t lived up to the previous ones.

Hi
I am sorry to note that there were certain issues with our property which prevented you from enjoying your stay to the full. Please accept my apology.
The barn was scheduled to be painted and decorated few days after your stay. It's all done now and it looks all new and gleaming.!. I'm sorry about the upstairs bathroom. I have instructed the cleaning team about it. I am glad you could use the downstairs shower.
Going through your review, I could not help but notice that there are no positive observations at all. All reviews ideally should have a mixture of positive and negative points. Not too long after your stay, one of the guests from a different website posted the following review
"our stay here was fantastic! the location is the perfect scenic retreat for a quiet and relaxing night by the log fire. the pool table was a great source of entertainment and the sofas couldn’t have been comfier to lounge on. the whole property is beautifully maintained and the animals in the surrounding fields were amazing to wake up to in the morning. definitely recommend for a great, peaceful night away from home with friends."
I am not suggesting that your experience was anything similar to the above. I am merely stating that a few positive observations would have long a long way In making your review well balanced.
Once again, I apologise for the shortcomings. We have taken necessary steps to avoid a recurrence.
Thank you

Could do better.
The converted barn was spacious and seemingly has the potential to be a great property. However it lacked some of the items and basic features we have experienced staying in other places.
The following points highlight things that we found unsatisfactory;
- there was no washing machine or dryer in the rental property (had to be requested and accessed via the main house)
- dirty saucepans left in the cupboard
- broken glasses and cups were left on the shelves
- there were only 3 chairs for the dining table and one very high and inappropriote stool
-the kitchen lacked basic items or supplies such as paper towel, sugar, oil etc
- the towels were fine but should not be described as luxurious
- the host made no effort to follow up our concerns after we contacted him or to speak with/e-mail us prior to our departure
The local New Village Chinese restaurant was good value and the drive to Liverpool and Chester convenient outside of peak times.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at the converted barn. We were sorry to hear of your recent stay not being as you expected. We want to improve the quality and standard of service we provide to ensure a positive experience for our guests. We have taken your suggestions on board and we are in the process of buying a new six seater dining table. We are also buying a new washing machine/ dryer for the exclusive use of our guests.
I am pleased to inform you that we have attended to other deficiencies that you have highlighted.
We very much look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

Took an hour to find the property. Not even the next door neighbor had any idea where it was. Had no idea that the rental was behind another house, which is why it took us so long to find it. We were looking for the house in the VRBO listing, not the house it sits behind. House was stuffy and hot; no fans to move the air, especially at night when it rained. Did not care for the free range chickens pooping in and around the patio and front door. The listing advertised laundry. It did not. Looked everywhere, including the garage/barn and found nothing. Even if the laundry was in the garage, I would do my laundry there due to the condition of the garage. The shower on the second floor had a broken shower head, and the water would move from very hot to very cold constantly. No ability to control the temperature. And the water pressure was low.

Hi Bill
I am sorry to learn about your concerns. Please allow me to address them one by one
Regarding your inability to locate the property, my suggestion is that you follow the directions sent to you prior to arrival. Instead of wasting an hour looking for it, you could have contacted me for help. Thank you for your suggestion regarding the fans which I have taken onboard. The laundry is in the closed garage and not in the car port. It's in a clean setting behind the garage doors. You only had to ask for its location instead of guessing. Again, communication is the key here. Thank you for your observation about the upstairs shower. I will look into it. Just to clarify, there is an additional shower downstairs.
I am a bit surprised to note that you have not mentioned any positive observations in your review to make it balanced. Be it the location, spacious barn and patio, various animals in the paddock and the variety of board games to keep the family happy.
Once again, apologies for the short comings and thank you for your suggestions.

Positives:- Alpacas, sheep, and chickens are great to watch and is one of the highlights of the property- Location was great for us as we were attending Peckforton castle for a wedding. Great views as well.- Main living area was spacious with ample room and seating for all of us- Property host was not present during our stay so it felt very private- Communications with property host were fine.- Property is gated so feels secure- Can’t really comment on hot tub as wasn’t used, but it looked fineNegatives:- The en-suite shower fluctuates in temperature and I was almost scalded by it even though the temperature gauge was set in the middle. This is a serious and dangerous concern and I would highly recommend looking into it. I wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt.- Some of the furniture is a little tired and dated such as the beds. I expected something a little more premium for the price paid.- Same can be said for the bed linen and towels provided.- Cleanliness in some areas did not live up to expectations, such as the en-suite wet room. In particular, the tiles and grouting looked a bit neglected.- Pool table needs re-felting as there were holes in the felt.- Kitchen lacks suitable cookware when cooking for more than 2-3 guests.- Overall I found the value to be on the lower side compared with similar places that I have stayed at.
Booking was very easy and the owner was very quick to reply. Getting to it via the postcode took us to a property down the road but we soon foumd where to go. On arrival the entire drive was a pure sheet of ice and a few if us nearly fell. The barn was extremely cold upon arrival but we soon got the wood burner up and running. Storage heaters don't give out much heat when working. The barn was comfortable and slept 12 people quite easily. I contacted the owner and was told there was more wood for the burner in the barn opposite and salt grit for the driveway. We were able to leave our bags in the car port which was covered and could return to collect for our later departure. Taxis are a nightmare to find in Tarvin but we did make use of the bus into Chester and back. Overall a lovely little place to stay!
Bit of a nightmare to find so a sign on the wall outside would definitely help in the future. I thought from the photos it would be bit bigger but it was fine for the 1 night. Really dark at night upstairs and down so that's a really good bonus. Great location to get into Chester. Shame the shower downstairs wasn't working but I got told the day before at least.
I'd stay again though. Very clean and comfy beds.
I stayed here last night, lovely views, polite owners, great with animals about just a lovely stay. The only thing is maybe have it cleaned properly and when asked about bedrooms etc suitable for wheelchair users maybe say no instead of yes as I couldn't fit in the door in my wheelchair to get into the bathroom, also I was told there's a bedroom downstairs.... there is not.

Dear Keighley
Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you couldn't fit in the door in your wheelchair to get into the bathroom. Please accept my apology. We have taken your feedback onboard and decided to make our property suitable for wheelchair users. I also note your feedback on downstairs bedroom. Currently, we have a sofa bed in the lounge which is accessible to wheelchair users. Nevertheless, you have made an important observation and we have decided to act on it. We are adding a bed room downstairs and making the whole property suitable for wheelchair users and other guests who are differentially able. It should all be ready by spring 2023. Once again, sorry for the shortcomings and thank you for your very useful feedback.
We recently stayed here for my sister in law to be's hen party weekend and we were not disappointed. The location is beautiful , it super close to Chester city centre, just a short 10 minute taxi drive. The check in process was super easy, and there is also a co-op just down the road for any last minute supplies that you may have forgotten. We loved having the farm animals in the field just next to the property too, I would 100% recommend this property especially as it is so reasonably priced too.
Absolutely stunning house - great location near to our wedding venue and they were super flexible with us having people coming to get us ready! Loved the animals and the facilities were just amazing :)

Beautiful property with animals in the garden
House is lovely- met all our needs as a group of 5. However- definitely not suitable for 8 people. The kitchen is relatively small and it’s basically has 2 double bedrooms with a couple of extra beds thrown in. The animals are lovely, nice to look out the window and see the chicken and her chicks roaming around. The grounds are well kept and set back from the main road, so quiet. A couple of games and essentials available upon arrival e.g shower gel, tea, coffee.

Great character property, and the owners left us alone and we felt comfortable staying.
All in all was a great stay, comfy beds, enough amenities. Only thing missing really was there was no logs as stated to burn, and I know I could have asked but I didn’t want to seem rude. Also I could leave it as clean as I wished as there was no dishwasher tablets left in the box!
