Located on Trinidad Bay, this Cape Cod style guest cottage is just steps away from beautiful Luffenholtz Beach and the spectacular coastal views from Tepona Point. The scenic and rocky Trinidad coast is one of the most spectacular and pristine segments of the California coast. We invite you to experience the dramatic landscapes of Luffenholtz Beach, explore the tide pools at nearby Baker Beach, or enjoy the dramatic ocean vistas from nearby Houda Point, a popular beach for surfers, painters, and bird watchers. At the end of the day, you can relax at the creek side patio, or enjoy a glass of wine sitting in two Adirondack chairs overlooking Luffenholtz Cove and the Pacific Ocean while enjoying the sunset. Located just 2 miles north is the quaint seaside village of Trinidad, with restaurants, shops, and galleries. The Arcata Airport is less than 10 minutes away. Luffenholtz Beach Cottage is very private and is surrounded by lush mature gardens. It has a queen size bed, cable TV, WiFi, a fully equipped kitchen, and a full bathroom with tub and shower. There is an outdoor deck with views of the forest and two comfortable chairs.

Beautiful!

Super nice property and location. Beautiful beach across the street and beautiful homeowner gardens. Private and tranquil with pleasant accommodating hosts. The nicest personal vacation rental we've experienced.

Beautiful respite near the sea

Fabulous private location just across the road from a secluded beach. Comfortable and clean with nice furnishings. Gorgeous property! The sound of the nearby creek and ocean is so relaxing! Just south of the town of Trinidad with easy access to the 101 as well to explore the redwoods.

Trinidad CA

The cottage was a perfect base location to explore Humboldt County. Tom was a great host and has a beautiful property both inside and out! This is my pick if we return to the area again!

Spectacular

This is the second time we have stayed at this lovely cottage, super comfortable and clean! The hosts are very friendly but completely respect your privacy. Lucy their dog is super sweet, she just can't resist welcoming you! It is so quite and relaxing. The little secret garden is spectacular, a wonderful place for a private picnic or quite reading. We will visit again!

Cute Place

The property was clean, light and bright (great skylight!), private and quiet. A great getaway only a couple of miles from the town of Trinidad.

Tom Mitchell is retired from the University of California San Francisco where he worked in medical research. He also is a potter and a water color artist. Tom Sandberg is a retired elementary school teacher. Both are avid gardeners.

Why they chose this property

This property is located on one of the most beautiful scenic stretches of California Coast, just steps away from Luffenholtz Beach. The property has fully mature gardens, including rhododendrons, azaleas, hydrangeas, and Japanese maples. There is also a vista look-out with two Adirondack chairs with a great views of Luffenholtz Cove, and a very private spot with a table and chairs next to a stream.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with the incredible seaside location; views of the ocean from many vantage points; and the large, fully mature garden. Nearby beaches are within easy walking distance, and the village of Trinidad -- with restaurants, a great grocery store, and shops and galleries -- is just a short ride away. Those who like to hike will have lots of choices for hiking trails through the redwoods and coastal bluffs at state and national parks within an easy drive.
