I’m very disappointed to read this 1-star review, especially after our communication throughout your stay. You stayed for the first several nights, and I personally checked on you each day. At that time, you told me everything was fine. You later chose to leave because you were uncomfortable with bears in the area, particularly after seeing people across the street feeding them. Black bears are native to the Great Smoky Mountains and, unfortunately, no host can control where wildlife appears. When you raised concerns about people feeding the bears, I took them seriously and contacted the authorities to help resolve the situation. I never disclosed your identity. We also agreed that if the remaining nights were rebooked, I would refund you for the nights I was able to recover. Unfortunately, no replacement booking was received, so I could not reasonably refund nights that had been reserved exclusively for you. After nearly 10 years of hosting in the Smoky Mountains, I have never had a guest leave simply because bears were seen near a cabin. I did everything possible to communicate, explain the situation, and assist you. While I respect your decision to leave early, I’m disappointed that after the refund was declined, your experience went from everything being fine during our daily check-ins to a 1-star review. We will certainly review your comments regarding the vanity size, water pressure, and balconies. We always take legitimate guest feedback seriously and continue work.
