Rob is a fantastic host and we had a blast staying at his place. His house was much larger than we expected. Would stay here again!

Large house, Great location
Me, my wife and another couple stayed there for a snowboard trip. We would definitely go back. The place is not the nicest but it worked well for us. Great location and lots of room in the house. If you not looking for luxury and want a good price this is a great choice.
Unit is in need of some maintenance. Master shower tile is falling off, front door is very sticky, have to push handle down to get door to open, outlets on stove wall don’t work even though it shows power to them. Owner was very good to communicate with prior to stay and provided second door key quickly when requested.

Spacious, good location, could use a little sprucing up
Stayed for New Year's weekend. Good location, and spacious living space. Could use some sprucing up, new cutlery, new microwave (was duct taped to hold handle on), dishwasher leaked more than a little from the vent next to the sink, needs a top to bottom cleaning!!! especially the kitchen. Also, the walkway and deck had about 3 inches of ice on it which was treacherous. The owner was emailed, but never responded.

Sorry about not responding. I was in Florida and unable to help.
Since Diane's stay, I've replaced several light fixtures, the coffeemaker, and the mattress in the Master Bedroom. And I've cleaned more and painted. Future guests should not have the same complaints.
Great home, clean and owner was very kind. Great location. Beds could use some updating including sofa bed.

Not Perfect, but Would Definitely Stay Again
The Good: We loved Rob’s place! We were walking distance from the gondola and downtown Telluride (about 5 min. walk to each). The pictures actually don’t even do the unit justice, it is WAY bigger than we had anticipated. The unit has a large 8-man kitchen table and a lot of room in the living room for everyone to hang out. The kitchen has a coffee maker and all the essentials and everything you need for meals. There is a curtain in front of the pull out couch in the living room which is nice if you fill the place to capacity at 8 and so folks can have a little privacy. The community hot tub isn’t too far, but we didn’t end up using it during our stay.
Communication: We had some issues getting in touch with Rob ahead of our stay. I had sent him a few questions about parking and kitchen supplies, and never got a response. The morning that we were driving from Denver to Telluride, we were concerned that we hadn’t received check in instructions. I sent two additional messages the day of check in and I didn’t receive a response. When we were an hour outside of Telluride, we had to call VRBO to try and get access instructions, but they also couldn’t get in touch with him. Shortly after that call, we got a message back with the access code, but we were very nervous on the drive to Telluride that we wouldn’t be able to access the rental.
Cleanliness: When we arrived, Rob was still cleaning the place from the last guests, which wasn’t a huge deal. We did however find that some of the towels weren’t cleaned, and the sheets were still dirty and on the pull out couch from the last guests. We did a couple loads of laundry, and did some of the other bedsheets just to be sure everything was cleaned from previous guests since we weren’t confident that all the laundering had been completed. Honestly, this wasn’t ideal, but really wasn’t that big of a deal since there was a washer and dryer in the unit.
Overall: As some people have mentioned, the house is a little older and for example, one of the handles in the master bath shower falls off sometimes. For the price and value you get though, and how much space you get in this rental for groups, it really can’t be beat. While we had a couple of issues initially with communication and cleanliness, they certainly weren’t deal-breakers for us and everyone in our group agreed we definitely would consider staying here again!

Great, comfortable, roomy place with great views!
This place worked out great for us, with loads of space, nice big table (seats 10!), nice big kitchen and sitting area, great location - elevated in town a bit, so really excellent views, and just a 5 minute walk to lift #7. Bedrooms and bathrooms are roomy and clean, tons of closet space, towels, sheets, pillows, blankets, dishes, well stocked with everything you need. Off-street parking also. Just remember, this place is inexpensive, so there were a few minor issues... some furniture is broken, some rips in couch cushions, one shower faucet a bit difficult to manage (but there are two big showers, so not a big problem), and fireplace a bit tricky to get started, but it does work great once you learn how! All of those issues are things we've dealt with before though - and in much more expensive places. And the owner, Rob, is very nice and helpful and eager to assist. In the end, we were quite satisfied and comfortable, and would definitely consider staying here again.

Nice place in a good location
We really enjoyed our time in Telluride. Rob's place was a great center of operations. Reasonable priced we especially enjoyed the big open room upstairs. Rob was a great landlord.. He never bothered us but responded immediately to any questions we had. We hope to be back next year

Great, convenient place to stay in Telluride
We stayed for 4 nights in early March. It was a clean, affordable, spacious place to stay. Easy walk to town, and a 2 minute drive to the Coonskin lift. (Also walkable to the Coonskin lift, we were just lazy)
The hot tub after a long day of skiing was perfect.

Good price, great views, and gorgeous town
Very nice place. Went up with a group of 7 to snowboard for the weekend. Had wifi, cable, hot water, fireplace...everything worked just fine. In walking distance of the store, the liquor store, and the dispensaries. Only thing I could say is that I wish there had been more toilet paper stocked, but we survived. Good price, great views, and gorgeous town! I'd definitely rent this place again!

Great Place and Location!
Stayed here for a weekend ski trip with 7 of us and it was everything we could ask for. Location was right in the beginning of Telluride town so close to lift, grocery, and shops/restaurants. Rob the owner was very easy going and good to work with. Place has everything you need and visiting the hot tub is a must. Would recommend other say here and would definitely stay here again.

Not the best...
Spacious and convenient for sure but felt unkept, haphazard, and was not well stocked (no salt and pepper in the kitchen and an almost empty roll of paper towels). The queen bed in the 'master' was hard as a rock, and we arrived to a load of laundry still in the dryer. We won't stay here again.

FYI, I have replaced the mattress with a much better one. I seriously doubt anyone will complain about a mattress in my place ever again.

Great Deal and Great Location
We take our grandchildren skiing in Telluride each year right after Christmas. The prices during this time of the year are extremely high. This unit was a great deal and we saved over $1,000 from the previous year. The location was great with only 2 blocks to the market and bus stop and easy walking distance to downtown. The 2nd bedroom had a queen bed and bunk beds which worked out great for our 4 granddaughters. It was great to not have to buy spices as the kitchen was well stocked. There was a shared hot tub but we very seldom saw anyone in it and the kids loved it on the afternoon we did not ski. While the unit is somewhat rustic, it was clean and had 2 full baths and a 1/2 bath which worked out great for everyone. We would definitely stay again.

practical choice for vacation in Telluride
This Tomboy cabin is located in Telluride town and is in easy walking distance to all major facilities(gondola, shuttle bus, restaurants). It has a well equipped kitchen stocked with all those things you hate to buy for a few days(napkins, salt, pepper etc). It was very quiet and good for sleeping. It is more "homey" than luxurious and quite spacious for 2 bedrooms

Can't beat for the price...
Place was great. My only gripe was I the description implied there was a private hot tub, that was not the case..maybe I misread the description. I think they were describing a jetted bath tub...not really the same on a guys ski trip. That being said this place is great otherwise. I will stay again when in Telluride.

About the host
Hosted by Rob
I'm a well known adventure travel and humor writer; my work has appeared in OUTSIDE, ROLLING STONE, COSMOPOLITAN, MEN'S JOURNAL, POWDER, SKIING, BIKE, and TRAVEL & LEISURE.
I'm the author of two books, TELLURIDE STORYZ and OUTSIDE ADVENTURE TRAVEL: MOUNTAIN BIKING.
In 1998 I decided to quit my comfortable, in-house job as a magazine editor and move to Telluride as a freelance writer. I've since been to Antarctica, Nepal, Indonesia, Norway, Russia, Colombia and many beaches in Caribbean.
Why they chose this property
My neighborhood is perfectly located: a short walk away from the Gondola, Chairlift 7, grocery store, restaurants, liquor store, hiking trails, and bus stop. Telluride is considered the prettiest mountain town in America, and visitors can see why immediately!
What makes this property unique
Great hot tub and the unit's big size (1300 square feet) makes it great for families and socializing. It sleeps 8. The French country dining table seats 8. The Great Room features a gas fireplace, comfortable furniture, a pull-out bed, 55" TV, lovely house plants, vintage skis, and European resort posters. You can lend the fireplace area privacy by drawing curtains for those sleeping in the pull-out bed.
The sun-splashed deck has been called the best in Telluride. There, you'll find a ski rack, five-burner grill, Adirondack bench, and dining table with 6 chairs. At night, it's lit by patio string lights.
The kitchen contains a new wine/beverage refrigerator that keeps beers and Pinot Grigio bottles icy cold. It's stainless steel, as are upgraded dishwasher, gas Viking range, and side-by-side refrigerator/freezer with ice-maker and filtered water spout. The kitchen island provides easy food prep and new sink. Kitchen cabinets--with granite countertops--stand above new flooring.
