Waldhaus (forest house)2 bedroom 2 bath sleeps 6. Remote location surrounded by private property at 9000 ' elevation with full modern kitchen with all electric appliances, television, wifi, running hot and cold water and carport on gravel/dirt road (all wheel drive vehicles recommended). 25 minutes to Black Canyon National Park, 30 minutes to downtown Montrose and 45 minutes to Currcanti NRA and Lake Fork marina and gold medal fishing. Huge wrap around deck to watch stunning sunrises, sunsets and wildlife from or barbecuing with gas or charcoal and a gas fire pit for night time stargazing. Take a small hike for a casual mile or 2 hike out the front door. 3 nights minimum stay and full week discounts available.

Communication with the host was excellent and easy. The place was exactly as advertised. The other reviews are right that it is a bumpy ride to the top - just know that going in - but the views from the wraparound deck are spectacular. We had a great stay.

We couldn’t have asked for a better getaway stay in Montrose! This beautiful, spacious cabin offered total seclusion and absolutely incredible views. Everything was perfectly clean when we arrived, and the host was wonderfully responsive to all of our questions. If you are looking for a peaceful mountain escape, this is the perfect place. We would absolutely stay here again!

Over all impression was fantastic. The view was wonderful, host installed an AC window unit prior to our visit in July, saw a ton of local wildlife, hummingbird feeder on the deck was a huge hit, sunsets and star gazing was fantastic.

Beautiful mountain property with stunning views!! We enjoyed a quiet, restful, relaxing visit. Kitchen was stocked with all necessary items to cook. Fantastic windows so you never missed a moment of the view. We have never watched so many hummingbirds enjoying a feeder at the same time! Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us!

No potable water in cabin, just 5 gallon jugs and the one on the dispenser was out of date. The jug of water in the refrigerator had something growing in it. Description says it has washer and dryer and it did but it wasn’t hooked up and the owner said it wasn’t hooked up because it used to much water. 45 minutes from main hwy to get to the cabin and the last 2 miles were horrible to transverse even in a 4x4. Other than that, it was okay.

Randal, Sorry to hear the property was not up to your expectation. There is and always has been and always will be potable water up there. I met you and your wife on the road as you were going up and I had a large tank in my truck hauling fresh crystal clear (Project7) municipal water that I and thousands of folks haul and drink from daily. 2000 gallons in a cistern are stored under the house and the bottled water dispenser with water is also up there for extra assurances. You got me on the washer machine. It was unhooked a year or 2 back after the winterizing and since no one ever used it we never hooked it back up. Yes the road is rough (western Colorado) as I explained to you in our conversations. Unhooking down below where everyone else does is always a great alternative spot but hauling the trailer with the road motorcycles up was discouraged but your choice. I did refund you 2 nights you did not use and hope you folks have a smoother vacation. Ride safe.. Reiner

Fantastic views, among the most epic cabins I’ve ever stayed. Just spectacular! But be warned , the road to this cabin is ROUGH… only suitable for AWD … and during bad weather it was hard for us to summit and get back down .

We had a fantastic stay at this property. Reiner’s place was perfect for our family and had the most amazing views. The road is rough as others had mentioned how we this was good for us in our Jeeps. Reiner was very accommodating helpful with giving us info on local activities. Would definitely stay here again.

Awesome view!

Well put together interior and great views and wildlife walking by. I would definitely recommend 4 wheel drive as the last 2 miles are quite rocky, but well worth it. The host was helpful and accommodating!

We enjoyed peace in a fully equipped, cozy cabin with stunning views! Plenty of animals were around, and we appreciated the absence of air traffic or road noise—just tranquility and beautiful scenery. The hosts were communicative and helpful. The dogs loved this place, too, as they had full range to the wraparound deck but were contained from wandering off too far. We would love to return if our schedules allow it again.

Montrose getaway

Hunting trip stay, fantastic views, great house to stay in. Other than the road to get there, (last two miles are pretty tough, but not owners fault), the whole week was great. From beautiful weather, great house setup overlooking Mountain View’s for miles, to comfortable stay, was a beautiful vacation to remember.
