The Merrywell property is a DELIGHTFUL, quiet space to stay. It was close to our family but far enough outside the city that we had a relaxing and serene getaway to recharge. The property surpassed our expectations and was well-equipped for our family. I highly recommend it and hope to stay again!
A deceptively spacious farmhouse set amongst farm land and horse pastures, made for a much needed, relaxing getaway.
The home is well kept and comfortable, providing all amenities needed for a home away from home experience.
Would highly recommend!
A beautiful and peaceful place to stay. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and were so friendly for our pets. Couldn't have asked for anything better.
Wow! We left our stay feeling refreshed, peaceful and wanting to rent again. Everything is exactly as described. Ellen, the property manager, is an excellent communicator. The view is spectacular. We will return again and experience this property in different seasons. Conveniently located close enough to our son's family! What a gem!
We loved staying here. Even in the hottest weekend of the year it was cool enough for us. It's a little bit of a hike into the countryside but absolutely gorgeous land to look at and within 20 min of everywhere we needed to go. It was also easy to get an uber/lyft when needed. The bed rooms are small but the common areas were great! Would absolutely stay there again.
A very unique property located within some horse stables and fields. We appreciated the great family room and the porches. It was fun to see the horses run around.
Very relaxing stay next to a farm with lots of horses. A peaceful drive in a beautiful area. The house is large enough for our needs and it's nice to be able to see the stars tonight. It's convenient to have a kitchen.
Pros: beautiful location on horse ranch, old house is charming, communication with manager was easy
Cons: mattress condition varied too much (one queen mattress was extremely soft and one twin was hard as a rock), most towels and bath mats were old and desperately need replaced.
Our son got married in the area and we needed a place to stay with our family since we live out of state. This was absolutely perfect! Very quiet and peaceful, with lots of inside & outside space for us to spread out and relax. And while it was quite hot out, the window air conditioning units kept the inside very comfortable. Our host, Ellen, was very helpful and quick to answer any questions from booking thru our visit. We would definitely stay here again.
My husband and I stayed here while visiting our sons in college, and they joined us for a couple of home cooked meals. We will be back! It’s hard to believe such a quiet, pristine, country stay could be so close to the city. The house was gloriously peaceful. The booking was easy. The horses were beyond sweet. The place is very well managed, perfect customer service. We found good hiking nearby too.
The Farm at Merrywell was a lovely property. A nice country getaway without being too far away from the city and many amenities. Spacious enough for a family and intimate enough for a romantic getaway. I highly recommend planning your next vacation here.
Ellen was friendly and communicative. She happily hosted us for a tour of their other nearby horse farm Country Life Farm. It is a unique stay in a nice antique farmhouse with lots of equine history.

Beautiful, clean home in incredible setting
My wife and I and one of our adult children and her boyfriend stayed at the home for three nights. The setting of this home is definitely the highlight, as Merrywell is private, quiet, open country at its best. I don't think there was a another person within a half-mile of us.
This was my first visit to the area and it is really beautiful. I'm not into horses, but watching them run around the open spaces was pretty neat. There is a lot of positive history about the area and the home, and that is nicely on display inside the home.
If you like dark, star-lit nights, this is also your place!
The home is as advertised...neat and clean with fully-functioning amenities. There is plenty of common area space, with the separate living and dining rooms. There is also the enclosed front porch area that has two additional beds if needed.
Ellen was very responsive and flexible, and easy to deal with.
We will likely be in the area in the future and will definitely be staying at Merrywell again!
A picturesque, adorable house in a quiet semi remote area of the county. Our family’s stay was delightful. We had plenty of room to accommodate all of us (including the puppies). Clean and comfortable. Great communication from host.
The location is idyllic, birds chirping in the morning, stars shining brightly in the evening. The horses came to visit us in the paddock on Sunday. It was great fun to watch the work on the farm from the house. The size of the house accommodated our family of 7 beautifully.
This property worked very well for our family and it was a great place for us to unwind and relax. Plenty of room and we really enjoyed the beautiful outdoor space.
Nice Farm House with lots of old country flare and charm that will take you off the beaten path. Take in the quiet fresh air and relax. The decor style and layout will make you feel like you are visiting grandma at Thanksgiving. Very pleasant stay and the horses are an added bonus.
We like being able to see the horses near the house. It is in the countryside and wonderful to be able to see so many stars. We have stayed there before and we'll stay there again. Very responsive host.
When not busy helping out at Country Life. I'm a freelance photographer, artist and addicted DIY-er. This is one of 3 properties on family farms I offer as a comfortable place to relax and unwind amid nature. I look foward to making your stay a memorable one that exceeds your expectations. Merrywell's farm setting is a unique lodging alternative for the Baltimore region.
