About this property

Forest and Farm 6BR Retreat, Modern and Spacious Farmhouse

When you’re here you’ll experience a beautiful old growth tree farm, 30 minutes north of Milwaukee. It’s just far enough to connect with nature and see the stars, but close enough to everything you love about Wisconsin.

The East Wing
The main house or East Wing has plenty of space for all your guests and features a panoramic sunroom which we fondly call “the bird room” for its spectacular views of the forest filled with woodland animals. It has an open floor plan kitchen so whether you’re doing the cooking or the one watching the game, you can be fully immersed in quality time with your friends and family. Warm up by the fireplace, head out for a hike on our walking paths, or just simply be. No matter what the season or reason you’re staying, there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy.

The West Wing
holds a special place in our heart. This addition was made on the home much later and with some labor of love, it has turned into the Master Suite of our dreams. It’s sprawling bedroom features its own seating area and beautiful master bath with a soaking tub. The den can be used as a kitchen, living room or additional bedroom. But we recommend not sharing this romantic suite unless absolutely necessary. This wing can be booked along with the East Wing only.

In The Summer Months
This property has up north feels. It is surrounded by 60 foot pines and around the corner from pristine nature preserves and bike trails. We are just a few miles down the road from Lake Michigan, the beach, and the harbor town of Port Washington where you can rent a fishing boat or surf the waves on a windy day. You can also golf at the many nearby world class clubs. We are next to the beautiful town of Cedarburg that is a destination in itself. It is a lovely collection of old stone shops and restaurants on the river that will enchant with live music and popular festivals all year long. In our gardens you will find a medley of flowers and vegetables and often a chicken or two.

In The Winter Months
Winter here is a magical wonderland. Enjoy our 3 wood burning fireplaces and bring your snowmobile, sleds, skies and warm mittens. We are very close to Sunburst ski and tubing hill. There are winter celebrations all around the area and on select Friday nights until Christmas- Downtown Cedarburg lines the streets with lanterns and welcome all to Santa’s workshop. January's winter festival hosts ice skating on the river, and bed sled races that are not to be missed.

Come, wander our forests, explore the barns, the log cabin, and play in the wildflower field. Everyone is welcome here.

Great place to celebrate 120 years of Harley-Davidson
Great property for large groups! The hosts were super nice easy to communicate with and even left us put our Harleys in the barn to keep them from getting wet. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

A great family getaway!
My family lost our family farm years ago and we’ve been trying to re-create a place for us to go that brought us back to the wonderful weekends we spent at the farm. The house was phenomenal with a ton of space and it supplied everything imaginable. We all walked away with smiles on our faces. The property is beautiful, and very close to a couple different towns. I highly recommend this rental property.

Such an amazing experience and unique property. Dale was such a kind and available host. From the chickens to the trail, it was impossible to not feel so relaxed and at home. Highly recommend!

Unfortunate experience with hosts
This would have been a five-star experience had it not been for the unfortunate experience we had with the hosts. The property is stunning and my husband and I stayed here with our immediate families during our wedding weekend (wedding was off property). The hosts were on the property during the entirety of our stay, making us feel watched over, untrusted, and uncomfortable. The morning after our wedding, we had invited our out of town guests to stop by and say goodbye before they left town. Although they were there for no longer than an hour, the hosts had seen them all arrive since they are always on the property and immediately scolded us for having an unauthorized party and we were immediately upcharged. It was upsetting to us during our special weekend and we did not appreciate the way we were spoken to by the hosts. They chalked it up to be a septic system overload, however, there was not one, and none of those who stopped by to say bye to us were inside the house. They also told us we already had an unauthorized party earlier in the weekend - what they were referring to was when our parents made us a beautiful dinner the night before our wedding and we ate it outside together as families (all who were a part of this were staying at the house - besides our photographer and her assistant who stopped by to capture the evening). Overall, we had high hopes for this stay and beautiful property but our weekend was clouded by our experience with the hosts and we did not feel comfortable with their presence on the property during our entire stay.

About the host

Host profile image
We have been photographers for over 30 years. In the last 11 years or so, we began hosting and and really enjoy it. We are very laid back and easy going, but passionate about giving our guests 5 star service. We are extremely interested in slow living, sustainability, natural health, and regenerative agriculture and love learning more about how we can incorporate that into the property. Our dream for expanding the property includes more farm animals (like donkeys, sheep and alpacas) and bringing in more amenities while still maintaining the vintage charm of the property and honoring the land.

Why they chose this property

At first, the forest. After our first tour with our real estate agent we knew immediately that this was the place. As wedding photographers for 30 years, we have experienced wedding venues all over the world and always dreamed of opening our own but with a twist. We wanted it to tie into a more authentic and relaxing experience. This is the perfect property for that.

Almost all of our wedding packages include a multi-night stay in the home which allows you more time to set up and enjoy your wedding weekend instead of rushing through. We are there every step of the way to lend a helping hand when needed and ensure you get the best experience that Abloom has to offer. If you're interested in hosting a wedding at Abloom let us know or visit our website for packages/pricing.

What makes this property unique

Our forest is extremely unique to the area. When you enter the property, you immediately feel that classic Wisconsin Up North feeling but are still only 30 minutes from Milwaukee.

We also are set up for events. Weddings are a large focus of our property so we have all of the infrastructure and equipment to host events including our vintage barns. Events do need to be approved by us beforehand so if you're interested in hosting an event, please contact us!
