About this property

A Unique Oasis in the Heart of Boulder

Whether you’re looking for the genuine Boulder experience, testing the waters before deciding to move to Boulder, on sabbatical, searching for the perfect writer’s retreat, training at altitude for an athletic event or just visiting the West for the first time, you will love this cozy lodge pole pine cabin located within walking distance of literally everything. Ideal Market (Whole Foods), Santo Restaurant, Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, The Boulder Wine Merchant, Moe’s bagels, Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage and the Sweet Cow are but a few of the shops just two blocks to the south. The North Boulder Recreation Center is two blocks to the north while the Skip Bus line is one block to the west. Access to area hiking and biking trails is equally convenient. The shops, restaurants and busker entertainment of Boulder’s renowned Pearl Street Mall are a 12-minute walk away, with the library and farmer’s market just two blocks beyond Pearl Street. While there is plenty of off street parking in the private driveway, you really don’t need to have a car during your stay here. Bikes may be provided upon request.

It is impossible to overstate the specialness of this rental. Set well back from the street on a one-acre lot with mature trees, the cabin is surrounded by an expansive lawn in the front and brome grass in the back. Relax instantly upon arrival to this unique property and feel surprisingly connected to nature while in a central part of the city. Extremely private and quiet, the cabin is shares an acre lot with just one other house, but plan on visits from deer, song birds and possibly other wildlife throughout the year.

Small but efficient, this fully furnished home contains everything you will need during your stay. The fully equipped eat-in kitchen is integrated into an open floor plan that flows into the living area complete with a functional fireplace and flat screen TV. There are two small bedrooms (did we mention cozy?): one with a very comfortable queen bed while the second bedroom has a built-in day bed that is perfect for curling up and reading or sleeping on as a twin bed. The full bath with a large block glass window, wifi, a standard size washer and dryer along with loads of built-in storage round out the indoor amenities.

The covered breezeway patio is the heart of the outdoor space as it connects the front and back yards of the property and is a most appealing spot for eating, reading, deer watching or otherwise relaxing outside.

All utilities and wifi are included. This is a smoke-free property. The yard is not fenced making is difficult to have a dog here, however they may be permitted only upon written approval by owner and with a pet deposit. No cats.

Couldn't be better
I loved the cabin. It is small but with a suprising amount of storage. The kitchen is well equipped, and the bed was really comfortable. Best of all, the location is perfect for all that Boulder has to offer, and no need for a car. My most memorable day was when a mama bear and two cubs showed up in the back yard to enjoy the fruit trees.

Secluded cabin full of character
We had a wonderful month staying in Tam and John's cabin. It is a cosy space with lots of character, and despite being centrally located close to plenty of amenities, it feels secluded and private. The cabin is surrounded by greenery and you won't notice that there are any neighbours. It is well stocked and had everything we needed for our stay. The cabin is well shaded by the surrounding vegetation, and because of this it is better than most places at staying cool in the heat of summer. There is an AC unit if it gets too hot, but we rarely used this on a stay from mid-June to mid-July. As well as the proximity of city centre highlights like Pearl Street, the cabin is only blocks away from the base of Mount Sanitas and makes a perfect base if you want to explore the local trails. We would love to stay at Tam and John's place again!

Cozy cabin retreat
Spent the last month of my medical leave recovering from long COVID at this perfect little cabin. It was exactly what I was looking for in terms of a peaceful retreat. The front and back yard offer the most tranquil, green views of the surrounding landscape. While you feel you're eons away from "the noise" of the world, you can find within walking distance Ideal Market (Whole Foods), many great restaurants, bike paths, a community-oriented urban farm, and the amazing North Boulder rec center. Tam and John were so welcoming and concerned about making sure we were comfortable. There was everything one could need in the cabin, and there were enough separate rooms for two or more people to be able to have their own space when needed. We really appreciated learning the history of the cabin and would very much like to return to enjoy it again in the near future. Thank you Tam and John for sharing your special space with others - we really treasured our time there.

We are the fortunate owners of this sweet little cabin. John grew up playing and roaming all over this property and living in the house built by his parents directly adjacent to the cabin. We love this cabin and know that you will too.

Why they chose this property

This amazing cabin has been in our family for over 90 years and it is our great honor to be it's current stewards. Built as a homesteading cabin in South Park Colorado it was later disassembled and transported to Boulder where it was rebuilt on this site in 1945. Today, surrounded by lawn in the front and bromegrass in the back, the cabin shares the rare open space with the ever present deer, birds and occasionally even wilder wildlife. We look forward to sharing the cabin with you and making your visit a memorable one.

What makes this property unique

There is literally nothing like this in Boulder today. The City's emphasis on creating high density has left few large properties within walking distance of all of the amenities that surround the Jacobson Cabin. This is a uniquely private and quite property in the heart of the city. Staying here you get the best of all worlds; cabin living right in the heart of the City.
