The house was great and the surrounding very big. We enjoyed it very much there. Everything was llike in the pictures. A car would definitely be helpful to get around. However, we can only recommend this villa.

Hello Monika,
It was an absolute pleasure to host your group.
Thank you for the nice compliments, we are glad that everyone had enjoyed their stay and left the Villa in fully refreshed and relaxed condition.
Warm regards, Michael
Everything was great. Only drawback was the roosters through the night and early in the morning. Staff was very kind and willing to help where we needed them. A little out of the way, but, that is what we wanted.

Quiet ocean front villa
The view of the swaying palm trees and the sound of the waves is very nice. The pool is large and refreshing and we had a lot of fun playing volleyball in it. The area is remote and there is not much to do, the snorkeling is nonexistent as the creek beside the property is a dumping ground for trash and this collects in the water in front of the villa; the visibility is turbid and filled with plastic. The villa itself is fine though not of a standard comparable with others around Ubud. The staff was hit and miss, Made was very helpful and always available, the housekeeper did not clean the villa more than half the time. The prepared dinners were ok but we felt rushed as they wanted to leave and the food was good but not exceptional. The kitchen has limited facilities, no oven and small and poor selection of pots and pans. We went to the local warung every day and bought lots of peanuts and beer. I would not stay here again.

Thank you for having stayed with us and we will use this as valuable input for the future improvements.
Please let us provide some more info to answer your concerns:
1. Trash issue on the beach: Bali is unfortunately not immune from the generic trash problem attacking most beaches worldwide. The village where the Villa is located already has a thrice-weekly garbage collection system, which goes to central processing area. The unfortunate event of trash dumping in the nearby creek has been immediately investigated with the local authority and most likely came from a one off unauthorized external party dumping building materials without our knowledge. The villa owners and local community have been working hard to solve the issue of plastic pollution on the beach and will continue to do so.
2. Housekeeping - When the villa is locked by the guest during the day, we would like to be considerate of our guest privacy by not entering the villa. This can cause misunderstanding between the staff and our guest on housekeeping access. A communication protocol had been put in place to ensure a better coordination and communication in the future with the guests regarding the cleaning time when guests are not around.
3. Dinner service: we always try our best to cook the best and freshest quality of farm and sea to table meals for our guests. Our staff is trained to check with the guests on regular basis to make sure that they have everything they need during meal time. This includes cleaning used or dirty plates and glasses and cleaning the table as soon as meal is done. This is how our culture shows appreciation and respect to our guests. I am sorry if you feel rushed since that is not our intention.
4. Kitchen facilities: We have limited cooking utensil since our chef prepares the meal in the central kitchen organized by our villa manager. Our kitchen is not designed and equipped for heavy day-to-day cooking. It serves as a warm up station and light cooking.
Overall we would like to thank you for recognizing the hard work performed by some of the staffs however we believe that these issues could have been addressed and avoided if you had expressed them with Bapak Dewi, our villa manager, during your stay as he checked with you to make sure that your needs were being met on daily basis. Again thank you for staying with us and warm regards from myself and the rest of the staff at Tejakula. We hope that you would consider visiting us again in the near future.

We chose Villa Uma Suksma after an exhaustive internet search. It seemed to be the perfect place to spend our vacation in Bali and turned out it was! The property owner was very responsive and informative from the initial contact through the end of our stay. The Villa was architecturally beautiful, well taken care, tastefully decorated with beautiful grounds and an amazing private pool. This oceanside property is not on a sandy beach but on a black rock shore from where the local fishing boats depart providing daily entertainment. The property is in a rural setting that offers an opportunity to experience the wonderful Balinese people and culture beyond the crowded busy streets of the more touristic areas and well worth the three hour ride from the airport. The Villa is in an idyllic rural setting trading the noise of the city for the sounds of roosters crowing in the morning and smells of traditional cooking over fire and walks to town and temple greeted by locals. The staff from property managers, driver, groundskeeper, housekeeper, cooks, and night watchmen were incredibly professional, friendly, and unobtrusive. We arrived at the airport late so opted to stay in Denpasar the first night and got picked up promptly by the Villa driver the next morning. We were grateful for his excellent skills and conservative driving style! Upon arrival at the Villa for a two week stay we were warmly welcomed by the property manager and staff. The thorough housekeeper was there daily after confirming our preference with the manager.. We felt privileged watching her arrival each morning as we sipped coffee observing her placing of offerings around the property in typical Hindu practice. The groundskeeper had a discrete presence, friendly smile and even surprised us one day by picking coconuts on the property providing us with a fresh drink! One of our main interests on this trip was diving most of which was an hour away. The ride to the dive shop gave us a chance to observe and discuss with the driver both countryside and cultural topics including the ceremonial parades we came upon complete with traditional gamelan ensembles and a good variety of places to find lunch from more resort like areas to local warungs. The property managers and driver were both helpful with suggestions and booking activities. Evening meals prepared by the staff were delicious and we felt spoiled by the service. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Bali!

Dear Beth and Family,
On behalf of the Villa Uma Suksma staff I would like to sincerely thank you for the appreciation given for the hard work done that we have been doing to make the stay of our guests more enjoyable and comfortable. Nothing satisfies us more than guests leaving home with happy memory on the villa and Bali in general. Likewise we truly enjoyed the visit of your family who came all the way from Montana, you all had been a wonderful guest and we would surely be looking forward to hosting your group again in the near future.

Les plus :
Maison superbe style joglo, bien agencée, bien décorée, spacieuse, très propre
Bonnes literies
Grands espaces extérieurs
Très belle piscine , propre, entretenue
Jardin très bien entretenu et très beau
Personnel très sympathique et efficace
Vue splendide
Calme
Immersion dans un cadre local et encore préservé
Pêcheurs, collecteurs de sel, locaux adorables
Très bon rapport qualité/prix de la location
Emplacement / temple Besakih, Slideman rice terraces, Batur,....

About the host
Hosted by Michael Fadjar
Michael, the owner, is an Indonesian multinational energy industry expatriate who has lived in 13 different countries on 4 continents since year 2001 and is fluent in English, French and Spanish. The Villa is taken care of by Husband and Wife team of Balinese origin who were born in the same village as the Villa. They are english speaking multi talented couple (dancer, cook, artist, painter, handyman skills among other things) and are always more than willing to guide the guests in getting to know the local culture and activities.
Why they chose this property
Well just take a look at the photos! Wouldn't you buy this type of spectacular property if the price is right? Uma Suksma Villa (recently renovated under new ownership in August 2018) is located in Tejakula village, Buleleng Regency in North Bali about 3 hours driving from Bali international airport. Whilst this distance sounds a bit more than average, it provides for the perfect getaway place from the daily routines and hectic lifestyle. If you want to avoid places that are already too crowded with buzzing groups of tourists then this villa is the perfect hiding place. The location of the villa that is placed beautifully between Mount Batur (with the famous Kintamani pass and Batur lake on top – often referred to as “the rooftop of Bali”) and the calm North Bali sea will provide for the true lost paradise feeling that is somewhat missing in other touristic zones in Bali. Tejakula is a traditional typical small Balinese village where you can interact daily with the local culture.
What makes this property unique
That spectacular 24/7 ocean front view from the main terrace where breakfast, lunch and dinner are also served. Daily sunrise, sunset and moonrise front row show (weather permitting). Full service Villa by dedicated team of husband and wife, with its own security guard, gardener and housekeeping. Full meals package are very competitively priced and cooked on the spot by the staff, which includes dishwashing and setting up and table. Or romantic candle light dinner under the stars in our huge front yard. What more could you ask for?
