Lucy's lodge is perfect for family get-togethers or business retreats with its wide-open floor plan centered around the main dining & living areas flanked on two sides by 6 queen bed & bath combinations. The kitchen is a galley style set up open to the main entrance and two large dining room tables. The Lodge comes fully equipped with all the necessities including cookware, utensils, linens, grilling equipment, and an available laundry room. There is a wrap-around porch with rocking chairs and several swings in the trees or along the bank of the lake near the pier. There is also an outside fire pit. Each bedroom has its own tv. The living room has a pool table and a poker table. There is LIMITED INTERNET. THIS CAN ALSO BE RENTED IN CONJUNCTION WITH DEER RUN #832869 for a fabulous family weekend!

This family friendly property is the best my family ever visited. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and there’s also an extra bathroom. The great room has ample seating, game table, pool tables and dining table. The grounds are as described on the website and more. It’s so tranquil, almost magical. There’s something spiritual about the place!

Amazing place for a weekend getaway

This home is perfect for large groups and people wanting to enjoy the serenity of the outdoors with modern amenities. There is plenty to do in the lodge and at the lake, and the amount of space/bedrooms made accommodating a large group easy.

We loved the property and seeing the wildlife. The property is well off the beaten path, but it was perfect for our family Thanksgiving. 8 adults and three children under 3 so the space was perfect for us. We are already talking about renting it again.

Fall getaway

This location is beautiful and quiet with a lot of nature to enjoy! Lucy’s Lodge has everything you need to enjoy a very comfortable stay! On our stay there we enjoyed fishing, the fire pit, seeing all the wildlife and playing pool in the house!! Of course we enjoyed being there together having a lot of good laughs in such a great space.

Family getaway

We are 6 siblings all over 60 with our spouses. This lodge was a perfect fit. Having a bathroom in each bedroom was great. The view was fantastic. The lake was very nice. We are planning to return here next year.

We really enjoyed this property and in all honesty if they would have sold it to us we probably would have bought it while we were there... Bass fishing was a little tough but tons of blue Gill. Great layout, well equipped and built for the right reasons.

We enjoyed our stay at Lucy Lodge. We had 4 families staying with kids ages ranging from 6 months to 11 years old. It accommodated everyone perfectly. The owners of the lodge were very friendly and checked on us to make sure everything was good. They went above and beyond to respond to anything we needed.

Our stay was Fantastic. The 6 rooms and 6 baths were perfect and the open space for all of us to gather was what we loved. The kitchen is large and had everything we needed! The washroom was large and the machines super nice. The outside is beautiful. I wish we had more time to spend outside!!We talked about coming back here for a family reunion!I loved how easy it was to find and having multiple gate openers was so important, it made it easy for all to come and go as they please. This place was the perfect spot for our family!! Thank you for communicating so well with me and answering my questions so quickly!! Jesse and Amy are amazing and their cabin is beautiful!!!

Couples Retreat

We loved the ranch setting. Great hiking on the roads . Saw lots of wildlife. Lodge very spacious and well appointed. Enjoyed each couple having their own room with a bathroom. Great kitchen for the cooks. We like the lake and fire pit . The wrap around porch was I big hit with all the couples . We would come back again for our next retreat.

Group Getaway

Our group of 11 friends ( 5 couples +1) with a 25 year year history had a very nice/relaxing time at Lucy's Lodge. It was everything that was reflected on the website. There was plenty of room for everyone and plenty of outdoor seating. Thank you Amy for a great experience. We hope to return again sometime to Stillwater Refuge.

Great Family Getaway

What a wonderful getaway for the 3 generations. There was something for everyone. The grandchildren enjoyed the rope swing, boats and fishing. The adults enjoyed fishing and bird watching. The lodge setup was fantastic! There was enough room for everyone to sit comfortably in TV area and around the porch. The kitchen layout was a real bonus! We were able to have multiple people working in the kitchen at the same time. Each room having it's own bathroom attached was wonderful. Thank you for sharing Lucy's Lodge with us!

Polar Express Family Reunion

My family and I chose to have a small family reunion after Christmas with the goal of going on the polar express train ride in Palestine. After looking at hotels and comparing prices, we decided on the Stillwater refuge. This place was absolutely fabulous! It was perfect for us to have a dinner for our family members, relax, fish, and also be close enough to go on the train ride. Every single member of our party was blown away by the beauty of the lodge as well as the surroundings. We are already talking about booking this again for next year and staying longer. The owners are super responsive and we had no issues whatsoever

Wonderful hidden getaway!

The property was perfect for our family get together. Great lodge with tons of space and the property was beautiful. Adults and kids had fun hiking, exploring, fishing, canoeing, hanging by the fire, playing pool, relaxing in the swings & rocking chairs, etc. Would recommend!

Hidden Gem

Wow! This property has it all! I hosted my fiance's 30th birthday at Lucy's Lodge. We had friends and family come to celebrate. The property was perfect and the owners were so great! Our four-year-old son enjoyed fishing on the lake. He is ready for another adventure at Stillwater. I cannot be more appreciative of this experience. We even asked to book an extra day because we were not ready to leave. Out of all the places we have traveled, Lucy's Lodge is definitely one of my favorites!!! Five-star rating from us!

2nd stay and highly recommend

My friends and I (5couples) like to take trips together twice a year, Friendsgiving being one of them. This is the second year we stay here. It is perfect for us. Room for each couple plus a private bathroom for each as well. The kitchen is fully stocked. The lake was lower this year but we were told ahead of time and it wasn’t an inconvenience, still very beautiful and peaceful. Would highly recommend for any large party. I will say that it is a very active place, in that there is other stays going on in the other cabins. You won’t even notice the other people. The space is great, but the owners do use the property for hunting or other family events and there are certain times you need to stay near the property for safety. Not a big deal. The times aren’t terrible and not often but would be nice to be notified before the stay is booked. Again, this was not an inconvenience at all for us, we are pretty flexible but I know some other people may not be. This place is just absolutely perfect for a nice retreat away from the city with friends and family.

Awesome getaway for a family reunion!

We loved having our post-COVID family reunion at this lakefront lodge. We had 6 different family units so the six rooms each with it's own bathroom was perfect! Where else can you find a setup like that? The rooms were large enough to add a small inflatable bed for the kids. The kitchen has plenty of space to cook for a large group and the main area is wide open so you can have people doing various things (eating, playing pool, watching TV) but still spending time together. The property was great! All of our kids had a blast catching some huge bluegills right off the front dock. We also went exploring around the ranch and saw deer running around in the forest. While we didn't get to swim due to a drainage issue in the lake, we are definitely going back to get the full experience in. There is an amazing looking rope swing and a sandy beach that we didn't get to try! The hosts were great, very responsive and friendly. They were up front with us about the issue with the lake and gave us the chance to adjust our trip. We decided to go ahead as planned and were still not disappointed. We're looking forward to our next family reunion at this place!

Best place in East Texas to unwind.

The weather didn't cooperate fully, but everything else was fantastic. Lucy's lodge was perfect for our group of 10. There were a variety of things to do, and it was nice for some to do nothing but relax. I would highly recommend Lucy's Lodge at Stillwater Refuge for church life groups of 12 or less. There is plenty of room for more people during the day, and there is a cabin on the property for additional guests or smaller groups. The fishing was great on the lake and in the crappie pond. Lots of small black bass, a few larger ones, and huge bluegill. All things considered, this is an awesome place for families or small groups to experience some of the best things East Texas has to offer. The staff was very helpful, and the lodge was clean and in great shape. New building with lots of great features and amenities.

Amazing Secluded Getaway

If you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle, this is your property. Lots of room for 2 full families, and everything you'd need on-site. Everything is updated and in great shape. The owners were kind, responsive, and helpful! We plan to come back!

Why they chose this property

We completed building Lucy's Lodge late summer of 2017. During the months of October and February, we use this building for our hunting lease, but rentals are available; please check the calendar. This building is available for rent for business retreats, family reunions, or just large family getaways for the remainder of the year.

What makes this property unique

This building faces 1/2 of our private 16 acre lake. There is one other rental but neither building can see the other and there is plenty of room on the lake for swimming, fishing, and leisurely boating.
