About this property

Cozy Garden Cabin patio, pool, pets just two blocks to the lake and fishing dock

The Shady Rest is a cute, cozy and comfortable garden cabin secluded from the rush of life. Located down Texanna in Sandy Bass Bay 3 (Jane's Jungle), this house is a close walk or golf cart ride to Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma beaches. We are within a mile of two launch ramps, and not far from Belle Starr Marina or Porum Marina and launch ramps. The other side of hwy 69 is Lake Eufaula State Park with many types of recreation including horseback riding and golf. Guests with kids enjoy Jelly Stone Park located at the town of Eufaula by the marina. This is a guest house that has its own patio and is located next to The Big Sandy Lodge that is our home.

There is a large grassy tree lined front yard with plenty of parking for guests and toys. The Shady Rest downstairs has dining area, kitchen, full bathroom with combination bathtub and shower. The living room has a double French door to the patio. Sofa day-beds are two twin beds one with storage and one a twin trundle bed. Upstairs has area with a twin bunk bed and closet on one side and a queen bed on the other.

The French doors open onto a pet friendly patio. Just through the next gate and up the steps behind our home is the deck with conversation seating, hot tub and pool that is open for the summer available only to Shady Rest guests. Please follow the pool and safety requirements and enjoy. Just a short walk to the lake for fishing or boating. There is boat parking with electricity, a fish cleaning station and minnow barrel for those here for pleasure fishing or tournaments. Contact us when you make your reservation if you need information about boat launching, fishing, docking and boat parking.

The location 421464 Big Sandy Drive (1165 Rd), Eufaula OK 74432. When you enter the address on your phone, select the "Big Sandy Lodge and Shady Rest" popup. Exit the 69 fwy going south on Texanna. Drive 5.1 miles to turn right onto 422 (0). If you see a sign for Lindsey Chapel or Sandpiper Cove, you have gone too far down Texanna.

Travel past Push Hill to a right-hand curve onto 1170. Continue to the next intersection and turn right towards Sandy Bass Bay 3. The 3rd road turn right onto 1165 Rd, aka Big Sandy Drive. Please continue down 1165 to the last house on the right.

We were very comfortable at the cottage! My girls said the couch/beds down stairs were comfy - and the bunk beds and queen bed were as well. Nice hot shower! Kitchen is small but adequate - added bonus of fresh eggs gifted by the hosts!! Hot tub was also great - sadly too cold to swim - but pool looked great!

We had a wonderful stay at this peaceful cabin in Oklahoma! The location was perfect for a relaxing getaway. The cabin was exceptionally clean and well-stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would definitely love to come back again. Highly recommend!

Quiet Escape Close to Eufaula Lake

We had a lovely stay. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. Our kids loved the shared sleeping place upstairs, the pool and the hot tub. We will definitely stay again, and hopefully for longer the next time. If you enjoy simple, quiet and relaxing - this is the spot.

Nice little cabin . We really enjoyed our stay . The hot tub was actually on the property manager's back patio , approximately 8ft in front of their living room windows . Otherwise a very nice cabin for my wife and my anniversary

Sisters and brother fishing vacation.

The house was perfect for our needs. Sister’s upstairs and brother downstairs with his two dogs. We enjoyed the patio with the grill and the swimming pool was extra. Glen and Kerry were excellent hosts. All our needs were met and more.

Wonderful place & people!

The owners are right next door - terrific, friendly folks! There if you need anything. Their 3 Labs are super sweet. The location is a quick, pretty, couple of blocks to the lake. Friendly & safe neighborhood. Our Pug loved the trip as much as we did. The rental is fully equipped & comfy as advertised. We HIGHLY recommend!

Very pleasant experience

The owners, Glen and Kerry were very hospitable and friendly. They stay on the same property so they were very accessible anytime we had any questions. I loved that we could take our doggo with us. Lincoln loved being able to run around in the big yard and walking down to the lake with my husband and I. The house was very clean and perfect for our little weekend getaway. Also, the hot tub was divine for a relaxing evening after the days activities, and while the owners were on property we were afforded plenty of privacy. Overall we had a great first experience and would definitely go back to The Shady Rest.

GREAT Off Season Weekend Getaway! (We went in winter) This cozy little cabin was bigger than expected! 1 large bed and bunk bed in loft, and 2 single bed/couches on main floor. Very comfortable! The kitchen is recently remodeled, complete with full size fridge, stove/oven and sink. Cabin is thoughtfully decorated. Lots of towels and linens. The property is beautiful! Very serene and quiet. The chickens were fun to watch. The owners have beautiful very friendly golden retrievers that occasionally said hi. My favorite thing is the hot tub! Perfect for cold winter days! There is a large above ground pool that would be fun in the summer. Owners are very hospitable! They welcomed us upon arrival! The cabin is next to the owner’s home, but they give you privacy. I enjoyed talking to them the few times I saw them. The hot tub is a short walk through a beautiful patio, onto a very nice deck. It is behind owners home, but they give you privacy. Cabin would be great for families, couples, singles. (No wild parties) The owners let us use their golf cart to take in the local area. Just a short ride or walk to beach. There are several places to go on the golf cart. The cabin is located about 15-20 mins from Downtown Eufaula. Easy drive. Definitely recommend Glen and Kerry’s place! They even gave us homemade jam as a parting gift!

Thise hosts were very welcoming and nice. They left us fresh chicken eggs which was a plus. My boys love their eggs. We had a fantastic time fishing at the local areas nearby. Will be coming back! Maybe in the Summer.

Outstanding visit

We had a great experience. The cottage was adorable and clean. We had plenty of room for mom and two teenage boys (with room to spare). Added bonus...we got to meet the hosts and their sweet fur babies. The hosts were very friendly and we plan to return to see our new friends.

The hosts were friendly and very kind upon greeting. Offered amenities such as pool and hot tub right away and were very happy to provide privacy if asked, and were kind enough to let us play with their dogs in the pool. The cabin itself was very clean upon entering as well as cool, thanks to the hosts for turning on the AC prior to our arrival. We are Glen and Kerry Elliott and live in Big Sandy Lodge. We moved to beautiful Oklahoma to enjoy our retirement years. Big Sandy Lodge is our home with our friendly golden retrievers and a couple cats and chickens too. Pets are not only welcome but encouraged. If you have dogs, we will keep the chickens in the coop. The Shady Rest is our guest house next door to our main house and is a very cozy place to enjoy a cup of coffee, have a Bar-B-Q, or start your own fun. We are American owned, maintained, cleaned and personally host our guests with respect for your privacy.

Why they chose this property

It's green and beautiful and close to the lake. We have boat parking in our large front yard and are close to several launch ramps and Belle Starr Marina. Our private boat slip is just a short walk or golf cart ride away for fishing or swimming. Please do not board any boats without permission.

What makes this property unique

Behind the house is your own private patio, aquaponic pond, and beautiful outdoor scenery for your enjoyment. The decks, front yard pool, hot tub and fire pit are available for your use and play. Please enjoy the hot tub and seasonal pool on the back deck of our Big Sandy Lodge. Or, have a Bar-B-Que on the front deck and a fire in the front yard fire pit or your patio chimenea. Take the golf cart to the lake or the dock to enjoy fishing for Crappie or Catfish.
