About this property

Chachalaca Villa | Eco Lovers Rain Forest Getaway

Thoughtfully updated 3 bedroom villa perched on Flagstaff hill with stunning views of Man O'War bay. We are located in the rain forest of Eastern Tobago. Perfect for nature lovers and divers. A few minutes drive down to the village leads right to the beach. Updates include new stainless steel appliances, new beds & linens, smart tv, WiFi, Bluetooth speakers, lighting, fixtures, etc. The amenities you’d expect in the city, in the rain forest. However, you’ll find it hard to leave the veranda’s breathtaking views.

We try to keep our villa as eco friendly as possible. We use a cistern system which collects rain water. Filtered water is also available from the refrigerator and is completely safe to drink. Our house keeper uses green cleaning products to maintain the villa. (However, be advised if guests leave any non-green dish soap, for example, she will not throw away)

Our villa is located in the rain forest reserve of Eastern Tobago. To some sleeping in the rain forest is a dream. We sleep with just the veranda screens closed at night so we can hear all the sounds of the rain forest. However, you will see a whole world of nature around you. Many times crickets, beetles, hummingbirds, and lizards like to poke their heads in and say hello especially when you leave veranda doors open during the day, which we all love to do. So if you’re frightened easily, the rain forest might not be for you. But for eco lovers this villa is a dream!

The villa does have A/C units in the lower level bedrooms, but you’ll find with the cool breeze from being perched on our hill that nights can even sometimes get almost chilly. We provide extra blankets as well just in case. Generally rooms are the perfect temperature at night and all bedrooms have new ceiling fans.

For travelers with young children: Be advised that 2 lower level bedrooms are accessible by exterior stairway down to back veranda. This layout can be more challenging for young guests requiring assistance at night. Exterior lights are on a timer and switch on as soon as evening arrives, so property is well lit and comfortable to walk about in the evening.

Nawaz and Rhonda:
Nawaz is originally from Trinidad . Rhonda is a designer from New York, which is where they met, and currently reside.

Chachalaca Villa is our first home together and we've put our hearts into restoring and updating our little rainforest getaway. We hope to share our home with others, until we can hopefully leave the hustle of New York City and call Chachalaca Villa our home!!

Why they chose this property

The moment we stepped into this house we immediately felt a connection. Places tend to look better in photos, but this house was even more beautiful in person. The second we walked out onto the back veranda we knew we wanted to call it home. The view of Man O War Bay is stunning and a perfect back drop for outdoor dining or entertaining.
