Just a note on the current Covid 19 situation; We *Sanitize* our vacation rentals according to the CDC guidelines with safe practices like: Masks, Gloves, Bleach, washing on Hot, and a whole lot of obsessive cleaning! Our places are very safe to stay and enjoy without worry. Durango is currently partially open with masks required in all public spaces. Restaurants are open with social distancing in place.

Owls Nest is the whole upstairs of a very large ranch style house. It is located over the downtairs garage and the house is very well built so there is very little noise from the family downstairs. We do have kids and friendly dogs on the property. The Owls Nest space is totally private with private parking, porch, and entrance.

Dear Guests, With stunning views of the La Plata Mountains and the sweeping farmland, Owl's Nest is so sheltered and cozy on the inside. This is a romantic jewel box of comfort, with all the amenities of a boutique hotel. We love having a diversity of people come stay from all over the world. Located in the irrigated farm and ranch land on Florida Mesa, this location is only 15 minutes drive from Downtown Durango. Guests are always blown away by the solitude and beauty of the place so close to town. You will often hear Barn Owls hooting at night or see them swooping though the moonlight on the hunt! My husband and I have been renting vacation homes for 15 years now and this is our latest addition. We have really tried hard to make this one super special, and focused the remodel to get a unique and quality feeling. You can see all our places at Look at our reviews and see, we have lots of happy guests! Children and pets are more than welcome here. The orchards are so fun to just relax in for a picnic or outdoor nap, and you can go for a walk around the surrounding hay fields. We have cows, horses, chickens and one good farm dog. They are all overly friendly! The patio is complete with BBQ and furnishings for outdoor dinning or relaxed morning coffee. The entrance is a foyer with an office area and coat closet and then you go up the stairs to the main living area. A super comfortable king sized bed made of reclaimed telephone poles has a built in bookcase around the bottom with a small library. A reading nook for enjoying the quiet with a book. There is a twin bed also with a Tempurepedic Mattress that kids will love, tucked into one of the window alcoves. The kitchen is both adorable with open shelving and built in bar seating. Wonderful home!

This home is beautifully appointed and very comfy & cozy. Everything you need is there. It is so peaceful and relaxing! The hosts are kind an accommodating. I highly recommend Owls Nest!

Fantabulous weekend

our stay was great. We fed horses apples and carrots, went skiing, visited the fish hatchery, rode the train, and enjoyed some quiet time reading outside. The house was clean, comfortable, and close to everything. We had a private entrance, comfy bed, and a stocked kitchen to make breakfast. Easily one of the best getaways we've had.

Perfect!

As a group of adults (all family) between the ages of 56 - 84, we looked ALL over the Durango area for a house that would give us both the togetherness and privacy that all of us were looking for. And, adding Owl's Next to the Casa Luna reservation made for a perfect combination. Owl's Nest is a super cute efficiency apartment that, along with the king and twin bed, gave two of us the sleeping arrangements we needed, a private space to get ready in the mornings, and a quiet space to fall asleep at night. The entire space was super clean, updated, and had absolutely everything we needed. With a total of seven adults staying between Casa Luna and Owl's Nest, we had an extra space to do laundry, make coffee, and shower. We had the opportunity to meet both Ben and Holly. Ben was super helpful when we needed to borrow a few tools to replace the license plate holder on our van. And, Holly was super friendly and seemed to really enjoy having short-term renters on her ranch! I wouldn't be surprised if my parents. who fell in love with the ranch, make it back to Colorado, and rent Casa Luna and/or Owl's Nest, again. They LOVED having their coffee on the back patio every morning, listening to the donkey and cattle, watching the phoebe chase flies, and seeing the ranch come to life.

Excellent house and host!!

The property was exactly as described and we were very happy with our stay. We would most definitely stay there again in the future. We thought a high chair would be available but it wasn’t. Holly offered to go to Walmart and get us one and we said no, it was okay. We came back from an evening out and a high chair was waiting on the porch for us! We were so grateful and so impressed with the nice gesture. Our 9 mo old was happy to have somewhere safe to eat her snacks!!! Highly recommend staying here! Can’t wait to come back!

Why they chose this property

Owls Nest is located in the irrigated farm land just south of Durango. They call this Florida Mesa and it is a large flat Mesa with lots of irrigation and natural water. Most of Durango's farm land is located on Florida Mesa. The views from this high mesa are amazing, looking at the La Plata and the San Juan Mountain ranges. It is such an amazing place on Earth and we are so blessed to live here and share this place with our guests.

What makes this property unique

Guests get to experience a real working farm. We have 100 acres of irrigated farm land and lots of farm animals. In season we share or eggs with our guests and we have grass fed beef to purchase if you like. There are lots of places to walk. Horses, mules, donkeys, chickens, cows, cats and our very friendly farm dog Punkin!
