I should have understood what dog friendly means. The house may have smelled a little like dog and I know it is near impossible to rid every blanket and couch of every dog hair. The bathroom and kitchen were very clean. The bedding and some towels were I little worn.

Beautiful and Convenient

We frequent this area a few times a year but this was our first staying closer to Platte Lake. The property was well maintained and secluded. The house was very well kept. We had a minor hurdle during check in but John was incredibly responsive and it was resolved quickly and respectfully. We will definitely add this to our list for future visits.

Vacation getaway

Had a wonderful vacation for the wife and I to unwind and relax. The cabin was just perfect and we truly enjoyed every moment. The Cabin was well stocked with everything we needed. We saw deer every evening in the forest surrounding our little cottage in the woods.

Great, super clean little house!

We loved our trip here! So close to everything including the beach, restaurants and sleeping bear sand dunes. Such a great place- clean, new and perfect for our little family of three! John our host was so accommodating and kind. We might have to make this a yearly trip!

Nice location and enjoyable cottage.

Very clean inside, and nice kitchen, but nothing was set up outside for guests. Had to clean all the outdoor furniture to use it, some of which was broken. Inside, the freezer did not open more than a few inches (not usable), and the tv was not set up in the bedroom. Otherwise, cannot beat the location!

Great place to stay for Ironman race!

My family and dogs had a wonderful time staying here for a long weekend. The house was clean and decorated nicely. We didn’t get a chance to enjoy a fire outside but we’re hoping to come back someday and use the grill and fire pit!

Great getaway

We enjoyed our trip and stay at this home. We spent our time sledding and hiking at the Sleeping Bear Dunes and ice skating at Crystal Mountain. We also enjoyed going out to Traverse City, which was about 45 minutes away. The house is beautiful and the are is quiet, perfect for a relaxing getaway. Overall, we would highly recommend staying here!

Cottage in the Woods had all we needed!

Very clean and comfortable cottage in the woods had all that we needed. Even though small, it was well supplied. It was close to Sleeping Bear Dunes. It was private and quiet - a nice place to come back to at the end of the day.

John is a leasing manager for a local property management company. John Lives on the amazing Boardman River and owns and manages several vacation rentals.
Michy is a mother of 3 amazing boys. Residing in North Aurora IL, she lives with her husband Vince. Michy has a background in accounting. John and Michy purchased Serenity woods after it was newly built in October of 2019.

Why they chose this property

Serenity woods is all about the appreciation of being in the middle of a natural setting. With room to have family and friends together in one area. The Cottage is really something you would not expect as a cottage in Northern Michigan. It is a modern, and open floor plan. The Sleeping cabin provides some extra space for guests. It is a 120 year old cabin that was moved to the property. It has been completely remodeled, has a bathroom and kitchenette. It has the true cabin feel. It is available to registered guests of Serenity woods who need accommodations of up to 10.

What makes this property unique

Proximity to many local attractions and activities. Sleeping Bear Dunes, Platte River canoe and Kayak, Frankfort, Empire, Glen Arbor, Leland, Traverse City. You name it, this is all about proximity!! Also close to skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing. Michigan winter sports can't be beat! Year round fun for all.
