Spring Vacation

We had a great week exploring the Spring sites in and around the Sleeping Bear area. The house was very clean, quiet and cozy; perfect for our stay. Much nicer bath and kitchen than similar places we’ve stayed in the area.

Vacation getaway

Had a wonderful vacation for the wife and I to unwind and relax. The cabin was just perfect and we truly enjoyed every moment. The Cabin was well stocked with everything we needed. We saw deer every evening in the forest surrounding our little cottage in the woods.

We truly enjoyed our stay as the place was well stocked with all of the amenities necessary for a comfortable visit. The special attention paid to the little things were much appreciated. We did run out of propane while cooking our streaks and had to finish them on the stove which was disappointing.

The house is beautiful. Everything was clean and fresh. The views of the woods through the expansive windows was amazing. Communication with the host was great and the house was exactly as described in the listing. My mother in law said she would live there if she could.

Perfect Spot for a Family Vacation

This property is perfectly located on the West side near Empire, Sleeping Bear, Glen Arbor, and many other great little cities to shop, dine, and enjoy some beach time. We were right around the corner from Riverside Canoe Trips so having a day on the river was super easy. The house itself is well appointed, has everything you need, super cute, and perfectly secluded. The extra cabin was perfect for some of my older kiddos. My dog loved being in the woods and it was just the perfect setting for her to run each day. Owner was super easy to communicate with and very helpful when needed. Highly recommend this property!! We will for sure be back.

Relaxation Retreat

My spouse and I stayed with our dogs for a long weekend. It was quiet, clean and John was very communicative with any questions. We also enjoyed the use of the dog run so we could avoid chasing furry babes who may have wanted to wander into the woods. The house is not far from so many must-see northern towns and attractions. We hiked and ventured out most days without feeling like we were driving all over Northern Michigan. We hope to bring our family back for a stay in the future. It felt like home away from home. Highly recommend!

We couldn't be more happy with our stay! We got all of the best accomodations we wanted and needed! Close to water and towns but hidden and quiet for us and our dogs! They had it so set up for pet friendly it was amazing! So clean and updated and the comfort made everything so much easier to not have any stress. We would recommend this get away to everyone and will for sure be back again!

Family Ski weekend & stay at Serenity

Serenity was the perfect place to stay for myself and two teen boys who enjoy the outdoors. We skied Crystal mountain during the day and enjoyed walking up and ending down in the quiet peaceful woods surrounding this property. On our way out of town we stopped at Platte River Point Beach for scenic hike along Lake Michigan where we discovered some beautiful stone picking where the Platte River flows into the lake. We stopped in Copemish for brunch at the Copenmish Kitchen & Coffee. A true mom, pop & kids run kitchen. No frills just good quality ingredients with homemade love. We love supporting small local businesses ❤️💯. #grateful

Oh my! What an amazing property hidden back in the woods with deer visiting at dusk and early morning! While this property isn't huge, it is cozy and is beautiful! It also has THE best appointed kitchens I've ever come across at a rental. It made cooking Christmas Eve dinner a breeze. I highly recommend this property and would stay here again without hesitation when I'm up North again!

We really enjoyed our stay here it’s very pretty in the fall time with all the colors. It’s close to some fun areas to explore such as Esch beach, lake platte beach at sunset so pretty, sleeping bear sand dunes, Glen arbor (cherry republic), town of empire (chocolate store), and some cute places in honor Michigan such as the pizza diner. Also, we enjoyed fishing on platter river for some salmon and trout. Overall, peaceful setting and very clean house. Thank you for allowing us to stay here we enjoyed it.

Lovely property - tons of fall color and very quiet and secluded. We loved that we could get away from the world after a day of sightseeing. It was a nice area to walk our dog. Very nice cottage with tons of helpful furnishings and supplies. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking gadgets, and there were tons of towels and bed linens. The bathroom was roomy and the king-sized bed was welcome! The wifi was reliable and very fast. Highly recommended!

Serenity Woods is just that. Serenity in the woods. Wonderfully quiet and secluded, we really enjoyed our weekend in the woods. My wife commented that it was very cute and cozy and just right for our two night stay. And I concur. It had everything that we needed for the weekend, including a comfortable king size bed, a nice sized bathroom as well as a nice living room and kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay at Serenity Woods and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Brother and Sister owners, John Jury and Michy McGrath are natives to the suburbs of Chicago. John moved to Traverse City with his wife and son in 2015. John is a leasing manager for a local property management company. John Lives on the amazing Boardman River and owns and manages several vacation rentals.
Michy is a mother of 3 amazing boys. Residing in North Aurora IL, she lives with her husband Vince. Michy has a background in accounting. John and Michy purchased Serenity woods after it was newly built in October of 2019.

Why they chose this property

Serenity woods is all about the appreciation of being in the middle of a natural setting. With room to have family and friends together in one area. The Cottage is really something you would not expect as a cottage in Northern Michigan. It is a modern, and open floor plan. The Sleeping cabin provides some extra space for guests. It is a 120 year old cabin that was moved to the property. It has been completely remodeled, has a bathroom and kitchenette. It has the true cabin feel. It is available to registered guests of Serenity woods who need accommodations of up to 10.

What makes this property unique

Proximity to many local attractions and activities. Sleeping Bear Dunes, Platte River canoe and Kayak, Frankfort, Empire, Glen Arbor, Leland, Traverse City. You name it, this is all about proximity!! Also close to skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing. Michigan winter sports can't be beat! Year round fun for all.
