The other side of the house has a wide gorgeous view of the sunrise, Green Mountain and greenbelt with creek below. Ten foot ceilings, an open floor plan, mountain decor, lots of warm wood and cozy furnishings provide a rustic-modern feel. The rental unit is accessed from your parking by one flight of stairs down to the door.

This ski chalet beautifully sleeps, dines and lounges 8 people. The large kitchen is thoughtfully designed and thoroughly furnished by a fantastic cook who loves to entertain a crowd. Radiant heat in the floor and a propane fireplace keep you cozy. The deck off the kitchen has a stunning view and is equipped with a large hot tub for 6 and propane barbeque. Two queen bedrooms and a bunk room for 4, all with cozy flannel duvets, make a perfect situation for two families or a group of 8.

The location feels high above the forest, inviting you to curl up in front of the fire and gaze out at the sweeping view as you unwind after a fun day of skiing/snowboarding, x-country skiing, skating, snowshoeing, tubing, or hiking. The chalet is well equipped with Wifi, a flat screen streaming tv, DVDs, games, puzzles, and books for your evening entertainment. We have sleds and snowshoes for you to borrow.

Just down the ski hill lies quaint Apex Mountain Resort Village with the Gunbarrel Saloon and Restaurant, The Mountain Shop for equipment, The Edge Bistro and Cafe, a new steak house, The Trading Post for groceries, beverages, sundries, a rental shop, and more. It all has a laid back family-friendly ranch feel. The mountain has something for everyone with incredible skiing and snowboarding with opportunity for lessons, an ice skating adventure loop and hockey rink, tubing, sledding, snowshoeing, world class nordic skiing, snow-mountain biking and snowmobiling. If you time it just right, you may even get to watch world class freestyle and racing competitions and events with athletes from around the world.

This vacation home is perfect for summer getaways as well. Please contact us if you would like to rent in the summer so we may unblock dates for you. The peaceful mountain setting, with sweeping view and a creek just below the deck, is lush and green with excellent hiking and mountain biking right outside the door. Outstanding
Everything was as advertised. The property is beautiful: well designed, well constructed and a fabulous location on the mountain. The hosts were more than accommodating and responsive to questions and inquiries. It is a slightly more expensive option for Apex but in this case you very much get what you pay for.

Beautiful well appointed suite
Gregg and Lisa were friendly and gracious hosts and spared no expense on the design and provisioning of their ski-in/ski-out suite. It has everything you'd need and more. The open concept space provides beautiful views and it couldn't be easier to get on and off the mountain. And after a day of skiing, the hot tub and comfy beds were perfect to recharge and hit the slopes again the next day!

Great Location and Fantastic Hosts
We had a excellent time at Apex at this location. Easy ski in - out off of Grandfather's Trail (a green). Were met upon our arrival by Lisa and Gregg with warm shortbread. They were helpful and informative and made our stay wonderful. The kids loved the access to the sleds after skiing. Unit is well stocked and has an extraordinary view down the valley from the living room and hot tub. Would definitely stay again.

Great Ski Trip
The space was really great for us (two couples and two teens). Beautiful views, great location. The highlight though was our hosts. They are so excited about Apex and the amazing things it has to offer and went above and beyond to make our stay great. We'll be back :)

About the host

The San Juan Islands in Washington State is our home nine months of the year and we call Apex Mountain home for the ski season. Playing with family and friends is our favorite thing to do! We enjoy kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, downhill and nordic skiing, quilting, gardening, reading, cooking big meals with family and friends and more. We love hosting our family and friends both on the island and the mountain.

Why they chose this property

We love Apex Mountain Ski Resort! We bought property here because Apex is a small, friendly community with a lot of fantastic skiers and snowboarders, challenging, powder-filled north-facing steeps, plenty of light powder, and perfect terrain for all levels. Apex is never over crowded like the big resorts, it boasts short lift lines and less expensive ski passes than most areas. The Okanagan boasts 300 days of sunshine per year, ensuring plenty of bluebird ski days with dumps of champagne powder in between. We think it'll become a favorite for you as well. We scored when we bought our property! It has exceptional ski-in/ski-out right from our door onto Grandfather’s Trail! The sunrise from the hot tub is gorgeous, with a 180 degree view over forested mountains down to the Okanagan Valley and Mt. Baldy. We have friendly neighbors on the uphill side and a huge unobstructed view on the other. This is why we built our chalet here.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location. The ski-in/ski-out, for sure! The view out every window, the high ceilings, warm wood and propane fire, the big hottub with 180% gorgeous view, the comfortable ability to dine and lounge as many as the unit sleeps in beds (so many do not do this), the super comfortable beds with soft, flannel bedding, the kitchen, which is super well equipped for those who love to cook and entertain, the unique floor plan which uses every inch so well, proximity to every activity you could ever want to do in the snow, and Penticton just down the hill.
