Here is a list of a few of them: Mesa Verde National Park (15min), Arches National Park (2hrs), Canyonlands National Park (2hrs), Four Corners Monument (45min), Monument Valley (1.5hrs), Telluride Ski Area (1.5hrs), Purgatory Ski Area (1.5hrs), Durango/Silverton Railroad (1hr), McPhee Reservoir (15min), Canyon of the Ancients National Monument (15min), San Juan National Forest (20min), and San Juan Skyway (235 mile loop) are some of the more popular ones.

Mountain View Lodge has three suites which provide 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, a kitchen, a sitting area, and a game room. We enjoy great sunset views of Sleeping Ute Mountain and Mesa Verde, abundant wildlife, and dark night skies. There is a large yard for games, a tire swing, and fire pit.

Since posting this listing we have opened some additional spaces in the lodge to guests. So you may see other people coming and going around the property.

The Lodge was built by Cecil and Brenda Dunn in the 80's. I was used as an assisted living facility and later a bed and breakfast. We purchased it in Jan 2017 and hosted our first guests in July of 2018. We are a family of 7 and enjoy hosting groups and living in SW Colorado.

I was born in Eastern Pennsylvania and attended college near Boston. I have always loved the outdoors. I have fond memories of a family vacation from PA to California with stops in Yellowstone and other National Parks. In college I spent one summer working near Old Faithful in Yellowstone. I hiked about 200 miles that summer. Those two events birthed my dream of some day living in the Rocky Mountain.

Why they chose this property

My desire to own a property of my own comes from working 20 years at a New York retreat and conference center. I enjoyed that job and after moving to Greely, Colorado I started to look for a property where we could host vacationing guests. We wanted a place where our family could work together and we could teach our 5 children how to work and be hospitable. This property fit the bill.

What makes this property unique

Mountain View Lodge has great views of the local mountains and valley. Our guests often comment about the great views and sunsets. We have 15 acres with woods and stream. There are deer, elk, rabbits, squirrels in the area as well as the occasional bear. We see eagles and many other kinds of birds. We love being close to the mountains and desert, and the weather here is great most of the year. This property fulfills a life long dream of mine to live in the Rocky Mountains and help people enjoy their vacation time.
