About this property

114 Yr Old Pure Jewel of Western History-Across The Street from The Hot Springs!

The Bunkhouse Hotel is located in downtown Jackson, MT. (Pop. 36!) and is housed in the historic Jackson I.O.O.F Lodge building, originally built in 1910. The building was completely renovated in 2015 and now serves as a fully functioning and licensed boutique hotel, bar and even houses the town Post Office in the lobby! Truly, a one-of-the-last-best glimpses into Montana's frontier history...

The Hotel is conveniently located just across the street from the world famous Jackson Hot Springs (Noted in the Lewis & Clark journal in July 1806!).

Warm, cozy and well-appointed with authentic period era cowboy furnishings, antiques, art and literature. You will find a genuine, yet modern comfort and feel of the great American West and the true cowboy culture of The Big Hole Valley of Montana.

Private hotel rooms are available for $89 USD per night, Queen-sized beds in a hostel-style shared space for $39 USD per night, the entire bunkhouse (Upstairs) which includes 5 queen beds, bar, living room lounge area, flatscreen TV and private bathroom for $249 USD per night, or you can rent out the entire Hotel! (8 queen beds and 2 commercial bathrooms) for your own private, exclusive use for $450 USD per night. Sorry folks, we have a strict No Pet policy due to our food/beverage licensing and being all-indoors.

So come and enjoy a piece of American history with your friends or family and enjoy one of the most beautiful high mountain valleys in the world, all without breaking the bank.

Whether your soaking, cycling, fishing, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, exploring or just out for a little getaway, come and experience The Big Hole Valley and get a taste of what Montana was like back in the day...

Cheers!

Rick is amazing, hotel is gorgeous!
At first I was worried about the bathroom being down the hall, but it was not an inconvenience at all! Super clean hotel, comfortable bed and friendly host! I would love to stay here again and again. Hot springs are close enough to walk to. We even got to do a load of laundry to make our trip easier!

Warm Welcome
Great little hotel/hostel, just over the road from the hot springs and bar. Very warm welcome and friendly host . Great communication. Only negative was slightly confusing listing when factoring exchange rates, but host Rick was great at accomodating our needs. Thank you.

Made us feel like Family, the kind you like
Nine seasoned adults from Wisconsin arrived tired of the road, thirsty, and looking for a friendly face.... Rick and his Bunkhouse Hotel made our hearts full again. Victor wants to thank him for the June Bug, Barb wants to thank him for bartering cheese curds/venison stick for elk, and the rest of us loved sitting on the side of the highway visiting. All of us sleeping upstairs together was like being in scouts again. Thank you!

In town for a wedding.
It was not fancy by any means, but it worked for what we needed. The biggest downfall of the property was how cold it was! Bed was comfortable.

About the host

Hosted by Rick or Tammy Harwood

Host profile image
Rick purchased this amazing 100+ year old building in early 2015 as merely "a shell" with no heat, plumbing or running water! With some hard work and calling in a few favors, renovations took hold and the hotel opened the same year as a classic, Western boutique hotel to offer guests a chance at what it felt like back in the Old West.

Rick and Tammy enjoy their roles as hosts of this property, along with another property just up the road in nearby Wisdom, MT. (#1878801) A custom hunting Lodge style vacation rental outside of Cheney, WA. (#812270) and the newest addition in Punta Santiago, PR. as well. They enjoy meeting and treating each guest as family. Come and stay with people who take pride in ensuring that your time away is well spent, comfortable and that will provide memories to last a lifetime... Cheers! -R & T

Why they chose this property

What are the chances of finding a vacant, viable, classic property so rich in tradition and history in a town of just 36 people in the middle of one of the most beautiful high mountain valleys in the world? God threw us a bone on this one!

Come and let us share it with you...

:o)

What makes this property unique

Truly, a "One of a Kind" find. Montana really is "The Last Best Place"...

You'd be hard pressed to find or replicate the rich history and style found here at The Bunkhouse Hotel. We've been told: "It looks like something right out of an Old West movie" with folks literally stopping in the middle of the street to take pictures of the Hotel on a daily basis.
