Casa Mia is ideal for guests looking for a quiet getaway and features 2 spacious and comfortable bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, full kitchen, study with a pull-out couch and spectacular terrace views of the property and Cartagena and the Caribbean in the distance. Casa Mia accommodates 4 persons privately and an additional 1-2 persons on the pull-out couch in the study. Pricing for Casa Mia is for up to 4 persons with a nominal fee for 1-2 additional persons.

Guests may want to check out Cartagena architecture and churches that date to the 1600’s, arts & crafts shops, street vendors, fancy and not-so-fancy boutiques (Colombian leather goods, tapestries & fabric are special features), and stroll the downtown full of people from around the world who gather in parks, sip coffee, and feast on fresh pastries.

The Matute Springs and the Botanical Garden are within an energetic walk as is the Selva Negra Restaurant owned by friends. Spend your stay relaxing poolside, enjoying the terrace views, local food and fauna, going for a walk or hike, picking up coral fossils down the hill or getting into a game of darts.

HOUSE RULES RE: GUESTS/VISITORS: The number of guests are those registered via the VRBO reservation. Any additional visitors (daytime only) must be approved by owners with a minimum of 48 hour notice. No overnight stays are permitted other than the registered guests.

Part two of our ten day stay.

We spent the first 7 days of our stay with our children who only had one week of vacation. My wife and I were then joined by two friends and we stayed another 3 days before moving on to Minca and Santa Marta. Please refer to our previous review for our thoughts about our stay at Bill and Myriam's property. It was a very positive experience.

Perfect quiet retreat

My stay a Casa Mia was the perfect way to relax and recharge. My friend and I were able to spend lazy hours in the hammock, lounging by the pool, hanging in the kiosko and catching the most fantastic sunsets from the balcony. The property is well cared for and is surrounded by the most lush vegetation. We watched iguanas and birds in the trees (rumor has it sloths are also found in the trees). It’s also not far from the botanical gardens which was even more fun when the monkeys came out to play! The breakfasts and lunches with fresh juice made by Doris were delicious and an easy introduction to local cuisine. The owners were very easy to work with and helpful in making arrangements. I will definitely be back for more R&R in the future.

The tropical weather, birds, flora and fauna make this villa a special place to vacation and enjoy the lifestyle of Colombian country living. You can't help but relax here with the gardens, natural spring-fed pool, hammocks and delicious traditional food, including fresh fruits and vegetables grown on the property.

"We stayed for a total of 10 days at this property and it was a very positive experience. We were very impressed with the attention given to our every need by Bill and Myriam. They made sure that we had everything we needed and helped us organize our outings by giving great suggestions and organizing transportation for us with friendly and trustworthy drivers. The rides into Cartagena were a good 45 to 60 minutes and the cost does add up so I would recommend to guests to stay a few days in Cartagena to experience the city and to use Casa Mia and Camino Alto as a great place to relax and unwind. We thoroughly enjoyed having our morning coffee brought to us on the great balcony that overlooks Cartagena while we were seranaded by the birds and the sounds of the howler monkeys in the distance. The staff on the property, while discreet kept the property very clean and Doris prepared excellent traditional Colombian breakfasts to start our days. The property seems to benefit from a constant breeze that keeps the property very comfortable even in the mid afternoon heat. The sunsets from the property are amazing and we enjoyed watching the sun set over Cartagena most nights. The kitchen facilities while a little tight by North American standards but were adequate and provided everything we needed. The Casa Mia part of the property is quite separate from the main house and affords lots of privacy. It has two bedrooms but the upstairs one is the gem of the two so you will have to fight over who gets that one. A great experience and we highly recommend this property. Bill and Myriam are great hosts."
