Oceanfront Corner Unit - Unobstructed Ocean Views

There are only four ocean front end units in Cedar Reef Condominiums on Harbor Island and this is one of them. This unit affords unobstructed ocean views with large side windows for additional views of beach and pools plus lots of light.

This tastefully decorated condominium has two bedrooms, two and a half baths with two master suites. The second bedroom has twin beds. Since this is an end unit, there is a wonderful cross breeze on the deck, furnished with a patio set to enjoy the fabulous views. New 'excited' owners have remodeled with new paint, carpet,local art, and updated furnishings including a comfortable, new queen sofa bed.

We fell in love with Harbor Island the first time we visited due to the natural beauty and quiet family atmosphere. At low tide, the beach is very wide and hard packed, perfect for walking, shelling, jogging, or biking. Shore birds are everywhere and a pleasure to watch.

We were pleased that our guests could use all the facilities of the Beach and Racquet Club including large pool, baby pool, volleyball and tennis courts, playground, and work out room. Hunting Island State Park is about one mile away, with its wide beach, woods, lighthouse and fishing pier. There are many golf courses in the area where you can call for tee time, the closest being Fripp Island, only four miles away.

Since the historic town of Beaufort is only twenty minutes away, you can drive in for lunch or dinner and to walk through the lovely streets admiring the gracious homes and shopping in the unique shops and galleries. Day trips could include Charleston or Savannah.

We hope you will love Harbor Island as we do - no crowds, noise or traffic, just a gorgeous place to relax and enjoy.

The view from the rental was beautiful, and we hoped we could say the same for the unit. The rental is dated and not as clean as we hoped. The hot water heater was broken and we were without hot water for the first day. We worked with the rental company and they were able to find us an empty condo which was an upgrade, not taking into account the broken hot water heater. Many updates are needed for the rental to feel easy and comfortable.

Place was not that clean, lock did not work first day, plugs bathrooms not working , found breaker in box for GFI. , wife ran out of hot water showering. Bathroom door downstairs does not stay shut. Hardware issue. Drafty in kitchen. Need foam in several areas. Beach chairs at front door worthless and rusted. Lights outside door at night not working. Did service request. No one showed. Really think bulbs out. Property as whole tad dirty and trash not picked up around condo.

My 8 year old and 10 month old went down for a weekend getaway and I must say this area was perfect for a newly single mom and two kids. This condo had a spectacular view of the ocean and access to the beach. On top of that, I felt so safe knowing we had a guard to get onto the island and the people who lived there were so pleasant and kind. This created such a sweet memory for my children and I that I hope to come back during the summer months and enjoy it again. I hope whoever reads this next checks out Blackstone Cafe in Beauford. It was so yummy!

We have stayed in this condo before and the upgrades are very pretty, but the master bedroom still shows a king bed but it's a queen now. We really enjoyed our stay!

It is always a pleasure to stay at Coral Reef. This building is farther from beach than we have stayed before but it had a beautiful view and was very quiet and clean.

Absolutely beautiful views! The sunrises were amazing. I can tell that some things are being updated but more work could be done! Table on deck too rusty to eat on. Some of the kitchen tools need to be replaced like the knives. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Beautiful little island.

This property had the best view! My family and I enjoyed our stay immensely. Beds were comfortable and we slept very well. Kitchen had all of the dishes we needed to cook. Layout of the home was great and safe for my 10 month old. Check-in and booking was easy and the company was very quick to respond. The island and amenities was amazing. The beach was gorgeous and only a boardwalk away. The only complaints we had were the floors being sandy with no broom available in the unit, the master bed was extremely high of the ground. I am 5’ 7” and I struggled a little getting in the bed. The couch is in need of replacement and is not comfortable to sit on and dirty. The condo is also in extreme need of a good deep clean and coat of paint. There were dark smudges and dirty baseboards. The shower in the master also felt like it was going to fall through the ceiling. The balcony needs to have the furniture replaced and a shade added so it can be enjoyed!

Beautiful View

This condo is just as pictured and the views are amazing! The condo has been nicely updated and met our needs perfectly. The only negative is that there were some missing pieces to different items in the kitchen and dried food on hot pads and dining seat covers. Other than that it was a great stay. I think it might be to the owners benefit if the cleaning service looks through the kitchen drawers to make sure that things are clean.

Disappointment

This unit was a disappointment. The photos showed a very clean property, but that was not the actual truth. We experienced bugs in the beds in both bedrooms, dirty utensils, dishes and silverware - including hair in the silverware drawer and old food on the cookware. The couch and dining room cushions were badly stained, and the pull-out sofa bed mattress was worn-out and needed replacement (thankfully, we brought an air mattress with us). We rented beach chairs and umbrellas from the management company and asked very specific questions about them before committing - the management company apparently "told us what we wanted to hear," but the actual truth was much different....our complaints were given short-shrift and brushed aside with little or no consideration. While the unit was a grand disappointment, we enjoyed the remoteness of the beach - away from the crowds, noise and congestion of more developed and overrun beach areas such as Hilton Head.

Great Location - Inside needs work

We absolutely loved the location of our rental! We were able to sit on the deck and see the beach, hear the waves, and the walk to the beach was very short and quick! We could not have asked for a better location! However, we were a little less than impressed with the inside and the upkeep of the rental itself. Upon entering it had a little musty smell but I just credited that to the humidity and did not think much about it. I feel as though it could have been cleaned a little more as the outside of the fridge did not look like it was cleaned at all, esp behind the handles, the tops of the walls, where they meet the ceiling, were all dusty as well and there appeared to be some mold or mildew in the cracks of the shower wall. We could not find any wash cloths at first, we ended up buying a few at Walmart only to discover there was an entire load of towels and linens in the dryer that had not been unloaded or folded. The kitchen was not very organized in terms of cookware and you kind of had to dig through the corner cabinet under the counter to find a pot or pan to cook with. The cookware itself has seen its fair share of use. I would recommend some newer pots and pans and especially some new baking sheets! There were MORE than enough dishes, it was actually a little overwhelming to be honest (but I am weird and have bad OCD when it comes to TOO much stuff, so I am sure it is fine for others), same with the towels and sheets upstairs. None of the closets worked well and I was afraid I would end up breaking them each time I opened them. We also had to buy a cheap set of hangers for our nicer clothes as there were not any in the closet to use. The curtain rods were all bowed in the middle, we found the pieces for the hook to hold up the rod inside one of the dresser drawers, super easy fix! Just a few small touch ups in paint and upkeep would make a huge difference! The vents leaked a few times, even though we did not touch the ac as instructed they would drip, including one above the stove which had to be wiped off before cooking anything. Also, the shower in the 2nd bedroom has a whole and some mold where the shower head meets the wall. Overall we enjoyed our time, just a little disappointed when you pay for a nice place to stay on vacation. I would stay at this location again in a heartbeat, just probably not this unit.

Needs Improvements

The location of this end apartment and the view were beautiful. The apartment itself needed a lot of attention. The light/fan fixtures in the bedrooms did not work properly, sinks did not drain, some of the bedding was torn, linens were stuffed into a closet which was difficult to open. All have been reported to the realty co. The effectiveness of their response will be in the improvements that are made. My experience with vrbo is that apartments rented by individual owners rather than companies are much better cared for and are far more welcoming.

The condo had spectacular views and had everything we needed. Looks like portions have been renovated like the living room and deck, though the kitchen looked a little worn, and the TV is a bit small. Overall a really nice experience.

Good spot on the beach, and a well-designed, tasteful place for a couple or family or two couples. Nice windows! Here's the thing: maybe bring a couple of pots and pans of your own. Skip all the old Teflon stuff that a previous renter seems to have put back without washing. I can see how housekeeping missed it--it was crammed way far back in a dark cabinet full of a bunch of duplicate pans that could mostly be thrown away. Anyway, I think we cleaned most of it, so enjoy the beach--

Been to this location 4 times in the past 20yrs. Unit 218 is a nice spot but the condo needs a lot of refurbishment. Sliding closet door off of bottom track. Slider to outside patio is dragging very bad. The patio table needs replaced. There is mold in the guest bathroom shower stall. Blinds not working in living room, I could go on as others have already posted. No big deal but, when you brag up how nice the condos are to somebody that has never been there it kind of deflates you to see how things are now.

Lovely location
