Casual, Country Home with View of Lake Corpus Christi


Casual, country home with breath-taking views of Lake Corpus Christi, your own private pond, wrap-around balcony on the second floor, and abundant wildlife outside. Bring your family, friends, coworkers, or have your wedding here at Wells Meadow Retreat. Enjoy a campfire and make s'mores beside the pond, have a barbecue at the outdoor grill, take a stroll down a country road, or feed the fish within the pond stocked with bass and bluegill (fishing and swimming are prohibited). Relax outside with a good book or a bottle of wine and soak in the sun or stay inside for a fun game of pool.

Fully furnished complete with a pool table, refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher,, toaster, blender, Keurig coffee maker, dishes and silverware, linens, WiFi, fireplace, hair dryer, basic soaps--everything you need for the perfect vacation! Five bedrooms each with their own window A/C unit and two bathrooms. The Great Room has a pool table and TV with cable, and there is free parking behind the house.

Note: My home is a seasoned, older home. Please don't book if you are looking for the Ritz Carlton.

Only guests on the original reservation allowed on property. No personal visitors or you will be asked to leave.

Our home is older with lots of character. If you are wanting something fancy, this isn't the place for you.

Family vacation

It was a great place to stay, it was quiet and peaceful we loved it! It was a wonderful experience for my children that range from 4yo to 12yo. We will definitely be going back soon.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, and the host was very accommodating and responsive. But Not all houses are safe or clean enough to be used as a for profit guest house. I am sure this was someone’s childhood house. However, whoever owns it now has not kept it up. The cleaning crew needs to be fired, It had trash and filth under beds, in corners, all on the cabinets and stove top. One of the toilets had a crack in the bowl and a sink that the water had stained brown. The water is smelly like maybe it has sulphur or iron ore content. The bedding and pillows were stained and very worn with no top sheet. Unfortunately, it also has some very unsafe showing wires and structural issues. It’s a do it yourself hodgepodge of add ons. It really put a damper on our stay. Some wedding guest refused to stay, and the rest of us had no choice because there was not another house available.

A break from reality

Great place to socially isolate. Kid favorites were feeding the fish, cooking smores over a campfire, seeing a million stars, and the pool table. Property as described. Property owner was very friendly and responsive. As others have mentioned, the kitchen is extremely small and upstairs (while dining table is downstairs). Plan for simple meals or to grill and you'll be fine.

Nice secluded area

The house was great, the property manager was very accessible and responded quickly to any questions or concerns. The pond was beautiful and my 4 dogs enjoyed it very much. The house was nice and cool even though it was scorching hot outside. There are a few issues - I’m not sure if it’s listed or if I missed it - but the kitchen is upstairs. It is very small and the fridge could be larger. My father has an injured leg and cannot climb stairs so the kitchen being upstairs was very frustrating for him. Also- there are a LOT of fire ants outside. Luckily, I got bit the first day so we were aware and kept the kids off the grass. Overall, we had a nice stay. The rooms were nice and large and very updated.

Amazing Stay!

We had such a great stay at this home! The neighborhood was quiet & peaceful, my boys loved feeding the fish! The upstairs/downstairs bathrooms were perfect for everybody staying. The place to be was the game room with the Bullard table! That was our favorite spot to stay! It was very clean, everything we needed was there & easy to find!

Lodging For Dove Hunters

Property was a good fit for our needs. Owner was very accommodating. All ten of us enjoyed the great room. Sleeping accommodations were as represented on the website - very comfortable. Daily temps were in the upper nineties. Air conditioning was adequate and kept us cool. Kitchen was small, but we made it work. We cooked evening meals outside. Outdoor grilling and lighting need an upgrade. We had a very enjoyable stay. Thanks Mr. Wells.

Charming Place, Needs Work

Lots of room and a great downstairs den for group hangouts made this a good stay for us. The downsides: the beds weren't made, there weren't any drapes or blinds anywhere, and we had plumbing issues with both toilets. On the up side, the owner was very responsive and helpful, even installing a new toilet.
