About this property

Sargent Estates Farm House

Farmhouse on a 200 acre Estate including 100 acre vineyard and equestrian center with Carriage Horses.

The farm house is decorated with custom made furniture (some available for purchase) and local art.

This newly remodeled 1200 sq ft farmhouse with wrap around porch is equipped for the perfect family getaway, weekend of wine tasting, or a couples retreat. It has 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen with all new appliances furnished to service any meal. The living room is equipped with a flat screen HDTV. WiFi is available. If there is a need to do laundry, a washing machine and dryer is also available.

Sit on the porch drinking coffee or wine while watching our carriage horses drive by, horses runnning and grazing in the surrounding pastures. Stroll around the property, past the pastures, through the vineyard and along the creek on private trails. Host lives on site and is available to answer questions or you can schedule a carriage ride to take in the view or a private walking tour of the estate, horses, animals, carriages and beautiful barns.

There is a large pool with diving board available by request.

Sargent Estate is located on the border of the historic town of Lockeford and just 15 minutes from Lodi. In 2015, Lodi was named Wine Region of the Year by Wine Enthusiast magazine. Lodi and its surroundings are well known for the cultivation of grapes and production of wine. There are several Wineries and Tasting Rooms within 15 or 20 minutes of the estate.

There is plenty of parking here on the ranch and just a short Uber or Lift ride to Lodi for several wine and/or beer tasting options oh yes and tea tasting too.

Taste of Lodi is a popular food and wine event that brings tourism from local communities. It features over 40 award-winning Lodi wineries along with food selections from some of the area's finer restaurants and caterers. The event also features wine seminars, chefs' demonstrations, live music and a Port, Cigar and Chocolate Pavilion.

Other things to note

We have livestock guardian dogs working on our ranch so we do not allow dogs on the property. They are however great with people and love attention.

We hope you come and enjoy our Farm House and Estates as much as we do. Our goal is that you'll want to come back!

Beautiful and serene setting
We had an excellent time! The fresh eggs were amazing. Local grocery store has great meats. The welcome gift basket an extra things in the refrigerator and pantry made our stay wonderful. Janine had everything to make homemade waffles and fresh farm eggs for breakfast the next morning. The grounds of the property are stunning. Bring some sneakers or hiking shoes to stroll around the vineyards. We had a great time playing games in the backyard with family. We will be back for sure!

Perfect!
We had an incredible time at Jeanne's farmhouse! We enjoyed 3 days here while visiting family in the area. Jeanne welcomed us with farm fresh eggs, wine and a tour of the gorgeous grounds. Our 1 1/2 year old loved watching the horses trot by and the pool was absolutely amazing in the 100+ degree heat. We did have to really move things around to baby proof but would not hesitate to recommend families with little ones. Can't wait to come back!

Just Wonderful!
The property is everything as advertised and more. Jeanne was onsite to show us what we needed to know and more and then left to give us privacy. The WiFi was perfect (my daughter had to Zoom for school and it worked great). The pool was amazingly easy to access. The little yard was perfect. We needed a bigger coffee maker and Jeanne responded within the hour with a full size coffee maker. It was exactly what we needed. Visiting Jack the Clydesdale in the evenings was a highlight to my daughters day.

Great place
We had a terrific visit to Jeanne's equestrian vineyard paradise this summer. We were looking for a house with a pool for the kids and family to enjoy. There is a full kitchen, washer and drier. The furnishings are beautiful and very tasteful. Internet works well enough to stream video, email, etc. Jeanne has done an amazing job setting up her house for guests. The farm is enormous, at 200 acres. We were able to walk around, see the beautiful horses and the grape vines. We started every morning with a hike, then enjoyed the pool with the kids. We roasted s'mores in the evening. The darling town of Lockeford is a 5 minute drive away. They have all the essentials, and restaurants that deliver. We stayed on the farm the whole time, but it could be a good central point to explore Lake Comanche and the hills of Jackson nearby.

Picturesque Farmhouse Stay
We loved every minute of our stay at the Sargent guesthouse. Jeanne greeted us on arrival with fresh farm eggs and a lovely little tour of the pool and garden area. She is such a generous host. The house itself is beyond charming - the photos don’t do it justice. So many details have been covered with care, from the really comfortable beds to the high end soap and honor wine bar to the adorable little yard with tree swing and Jenga game. We hope to return soon!

About the host

Hosted by Jeanne Williams

Host profile image
One of the founding partners of Sargent Equestrian Center, Jeanne has been involved with horses since the age of six. She started running the barrels, and went on to jumping and eventing. The fascination and challenge of working with young and problem horses led her to focus on starting and training horses of all breeds for the last 20 years.

Through an impulse buy at a local draft horse auction, Jeanne and her late husband Curt became enthralled with the Clydesdale Horse and began to drive, at first for pleasure and then competitively. Jeanne has been driving ponies and competing in combined driving events in the past couple of years.

She is quiet and responsive when interacting with the horse and the owner, focusing on deepening the interaction and communication between the client and their horse. She is aware of the importance of potential problems between horse and rider and endeavors to create a partnership between the horse and owner based on respect, in which both feel safe and secure. Her background as a physical therapist gives her a deep understanding of the bio-mechanics of the horse and gives her a unique perspective on the physical and mental development of an equine athlete. With her eclectic approach to training, and warm and compassionate nature, Jeanne approaches each training situation individually, combining her understanding of the horse, its background and physical abilities with your goals and desires.

Why they chose this property

Sargent Estates is a modern, well appointed equestrian facility and a 100 acre vineyard in an elegant setting, conveniently located near major highways in Central California. Set in the rolling grasslands of the western Sierra foothills, SEC overlooks an oak lined creek. It will provide a perfect site for your show, clinic or event.

Equestrian events will benefit from the large riding arenas with professionally engineered footing. The 240 x 130 ft indoor arena is lighted and equipped with a sound system and wind/sun screens. The 400 x 250 ft outdoor riding arena and slide track is situated next to the creek in a natural amphitheater. There is abundant space for warm-up, and a gazebo and several sitting areas are close by. Spectator seating can be arranged.
These same arenas can be transformed into reception or dining areas, dance halls, carnivals or wine tasting venues for your promotional event or fund raiser. A charming site for a wedding can be created near the Gazebo or by the Creek. Sargent can arrange to transport the bride in a Royal Coach, or the spectators in the larger wagons for a unique touch.

We will work with you to create the space and/or event you want, from beginning to end. Come visit the facility and imagine the possibilities.

What makes this property unique

Our estate is private. You and your family will enjoy the 200 acres without crowds. We can also offer experiences such as walking tours, carriage rides and visits with all our creatures including horses, livestock guardian dogs and chickens. Fresh eggs may be available (depending on our chickens mood). The Farm House has some custom furniture and local art for sale. You can arrange to meet the furniture maker and/or the artist by request. There are multiple wineries for wine tasting within minutes, the Mokelumne River is about 10 minutes away and offers fishing, kayaking and picnic areas. You will not run out of things to do.
