About this property

Downtown Jacksonville Historic District

Visiting Jacksonville for a concert, football game, or just to check it out? Our comfortable carriage house is centrally located in Springfield, one of Jacksonville's historic districts, making it easy to access all that Jacksonville has to offer. We are close to downtown, the river, Daily's Place, and the stadium. We are about 20 minutes from the beach and 15 minutes from the airport. Our apartment is located over our detached garage. You will have your own private entrance + one parking space.

Springfield is Jacksonville's oldest neighborhood and is just north of downtown. It is a welcoming and diverse community with the old southern charm of tree canopies, Spanish moss, and beautiful historic homes.

We built our detached garage apartment in 2018 with everything you need. Fully stocked kitchen with quartz counter tops, marble backsplash, and a walnut bar top. Walk-in pantry with microwave. Glass stove top with oven, dishwasher, and a refrigerator with ice maker - always stocked with chilled glasses. Coffee and tea station make waking up easy. Full size washer + dryer in the apartment and a private covered balcony overlooking our garden and small pond.

Open floor plan with wood floors. 43" smart TV with Roku + Netflix + HULU. Free wifi.

The bedroom has a comfortable memory foam mattress on a queen size bed with fresh bedding and a fluffy duvet for Jacksonville's rare cold nights. Large built-in closet for ample storage space.

Walk-in marble tiled shower and vanity with additional storage space + hair dryer. Fluffy towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash included.

Also available for use are beach towels, cooler, and beach tote. Private balcony overlooks a large, gated yard with garden and back yard hens (no roosters).

Sit in your Adirondack chair and listen to the little waterfall we have or have a meal overlooking the garden at the porch table.

Very nice property. One of the chairs on the balcony gave way with me sitting in it, but I'm ok.

Mark has been a flight attendant since 1987 and Amanda is a Real Estate Broker. We are very involved in the community. We like with our dogs. Amanda likes gardening. We are both runners and enjoy running in the area, especially down to the river and along the river front. We like animals and have 2 dogs and 3 inside cats and a few outside cats. We also have 4 back yard hens (no roosters.)

Why they chose this property

We live in the historic home on the property. The house we live in was built in 1911. We built our carriage house in 2018 as a separate structure. Our two-car garage and patio are below, and the private 1 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment are above with a private balcony. We have lived in the home since 2015 and previously lived about 4 blocks away for about 10 years. We love the area. There are lots of historic homes being renovated and some that are still in need of renovation. Keep in mind it is an urban setting, not suburban, and you will see some foot traffic, but we love living in a pedestrian/bike friendly community as well as the unique architecture we are surrounded with.

What makes this property unique

Our property is centrally located in Jacksonville. We are within a mile or two from downtown, the stadium, Daily's Place, and the River. We are about 20 minutes from the beach and 15 minutes from the airport. Being centrally located means you can easily access many areas of Jacksonville in a fairly short amount of time - important to consider as Jacksonville is the largest city in the US. Our neighborhood is a National Historic District and the homes have a lot of architectural character. There are few breweries and restaurants here and lots more to choose from in the surrounding urban core communities. The property is set back from the street and is a great place to enjoy the sunset.
