Our maison d'amis, dating to 1860, was completely restored in 2018 to the highest standard. All character features were preserved, such as a provencal beam and tile ceiling and the original 19th century flooring and chimney (non-functioning). Tastefully furnished with antiques from the region, the apartment benefits from all the modern conveniences so that you will enjoy your holidays comfortably.
The one-bedroom apartment has a queen-size bed in the south-facing bedroom and a split bath. The separate, large living/dining/ kitchen room has a leather queen-size fold-out sofa that can sleep another two people. This room is west-facing with beautiful sunsets and a view of vineyards across the street. The apartment comfortably accommodates a family of 4 (or a max. 4 adults). The kitchen is fully equipped with under-counter fridge, dishwasher, Nespresso, combo oven/microwave, etc.
The apartment is independently accessed through a front courtyard and in summer an outside table and chairs is available to allow you to eat outside. (Please note that the house is on the road into the village. All windows are double-paned but traffic may be audible inside).
Located in the village of St. Quentin la Poterie, which has everything you need within walking distance of the house (grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants, boulangeries). The village is known for its pottery and artisan shops. There is an organic farmer's market on Tuesdays and a larger provencal market on Fridays. There is good hiking from the house, and we can recommend pottery classes for kids and a wonderful horseback riding stable nearby for the whole family.
The village is located 3 km from Uzes, which was named one of the "ten most beautiful villages in the south of France" by the NY Times. Easy day trips to Nimes, Avignon, Arles, St. Remy, Orange, etc. will allow you to see the best of Provence. If you prefer nature to culture the Ardeche and Cevennes mountains are easy daytrips as well. And of course if you like to mix culture and nature, we highly recommend kayaking under the Pont du Gard which is a very short drive from the house. There are a number of rivers for swimming in the summer and the municipal pool in Uzes is a 5 minute drive.
The Gard/Languedoc is less crowded then other parts of Provence in the summer yet offers easy access to so much... Guidebooks and brochures are available in the apartment to help you plan your visit.
The village is located about 40 minutes from the TGV station in Avignon or Nimes or 1 hour from the airport in Montpellier. Car rental is strongly recommended as public transport does not run frequently.
Please note that there is a flight of stairs to reach the apartment; it may therefore not be suitable for people with limited mobility. Wifi provided but no TV.
