About this property

Charming 1 bedroom apartment near Uzes

Our maison d'amis, dating to 1860, was completely restored in 2018 to the highest standard. All character features were preserved, such as a provencal beam and tile ceiling and the original 19th century flooring and chimney (non-functioning). Tastefully furnished with antiques from the region, the apartment benefits from all the modern conveniences so that you will enjoy your holidays comfortably.

The one-bedroom apartment has a queen-size bed in the south-facing bedroom and a split bath. The separate, large living/dining/ kitchen room has a leather queen-size fold-out sofa that can sleep another two people. This room is west-facing with beautiful sunsets and a view of vineyards across the street. The apartment comfortably accommodates a family of 4 (or a max. 4 adults). The kitchen is fully equipped with under-counter fridge, dishwasher, Nespresso, combo oven/microwave, etc.

The apartment is independently accessed through a front courtyard and in summer an outside table and chairs is available to allow you to eat outside. (Please note that the house is on the road into the village. All windows are double-paned but traffic may be audible inside).

Located in the village of St. Quentin la Poterie, which has everything you need within walking distance of the house (grocery store, pharmacy, restaurants, boulangeries). The village is known for its pottery and artisan shops. There is an organic farmer's market on Tuesdays and a larger provencal market on Fridays. There is good hiking from the house, and we can recommend pottery classes for kids and a wonderful horseback riding stable nearby for the whole family.

The village is located 3 km from Uzes, which was named one of the "ten most beautiful villages in the south of France" by the NY Times. Easy day trips to Nimes, Avignon, Arles, St. Remy, Orange, etc. will allow you to see the best of Provence. If you prefer nature to culture the Ardeche and Cevennes mountains are easy daytrips as well. And of course if you like to mix culture and nature, we highly recommend kayaking under the Pont du Gard which is a very short drive from the house. There are a number of rivers for swimming in the summer and the municipal pool in Uzes is a 5 minute drive.

The Gard/Languedoc is less crowded then other parts of Provence in the summer yet offers easy access to so much... Guidebooks and brochures are available in the apartment to help you plan your visit.

The village is located about 40 minutes from the TGV station in Avignon or Nimes or 1 hour from the airport in Montpellier. Car rental is strongly recommended as public transport does not run frequently.

Please note that there is a flight of stairs to reach the apartment; it may therefore not be suitable for people with limited mobility. Wifi provided but no TV.

Great stay!
The apartment is very private and spacious. It was clean, well furnished, and kitchen had everything we needed. We liked having the shower separated from the toilet and sink - made getting ready in the morning much faster. The noise mentioned in the other review was really not that much (it is not a highway, just a typical road between towns in France) and did not bother us at all. We slept very well. Erin was very helpful in pointing out what to do in the area (do try the Artisan Bakery!). She was responsive to our questions. I wish we had more time to explore the area.

Such a little Gem !!!
We absolutely adored our stay in this beautiful little jewel box in Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie. Tucked away in a gorgeous corner of Le Gard, Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie has all the charm of a provincial village in the South of France with easy proximity to beautiful Uzes. The apartment itself is beyond lovely. The owners have lovingly restored the property guarding the old world charm along with all of the modern conveniences you would hope for. Sleek gorgeous bathroom with a walk in shower and beautiful fixtures, a super comfy bed with great linen and an adorable kitchen with brand new appliances, dining area for 4 and even a Nespresso machine !! We loved every moment of this relaxing tranquil stay in Saint-Quentin. We will absolutely be back again. Merci Beaucoup for all of the magical memories !!

A Perfect Retreat
This apartment in Saint Quentin La Poterie is a beautiful base for exploration of the surrounding areas. Erin and Stephan have created an extremely comfortable space, decorated with interesting antiques and local references - and it has all the modern amenities I wanted (modern shower, kitchen, and air conditioning). It is an easy 10-minute walk to two excellent bakeries (one of them organic and with vegan items), the market on Tuesdays and Fridays, and just beyond that countless artisan potters nestled into the twisting streets. Although I ventured further afield, one could easily hang out in Saint Quentin for an entire stay. But DO venture further – Uzès is about an hour’s walk (5-10 minutes by car) and is a charming and lively town with many very good restaurants (one has a Michelin star!) and shops. It is also known world-wide for its truffles. Don’t miss the ice cream shop on the square that offers fresh sorbets (it seems I tried them all, but the peach, basil, and orange flower were my three favorites – and splurge on the glazed chestnuts or meringues as a topping.) I came here after suffering a loss and my stay in this peaceful space and journeys around the region were a potent tonic. I will *absolutely* be back for another visit.

I'm French-American and have owned this property since 2016. The apartment is our "maison d'amis" and we want to share it with others when we are not using it! We hope you will enjoy your stay!

Why they chose this property

This is a typical "mas" of this region. We have restored it with the intention of preserving the character and beauty that makes the south of France a world famous destination. We particularly love that there is so access to so much in the area and yet you can also spend a great time in our village without having to take the car.
