Amazing location near Frying Pan River
This is a huge home designed for 4 couples or a large family. It’s our favorite location in Basalt near Snowmass, Aspen. and Carbondale.

Misrepresented - # of bedrooms in the house
The listing advertises a 4BR house, which is a misrepresentation. In reality, it is a 3BR house plus a SEPARATE (i.e. one cannot get to it from the house) "efficiency apartment" of sorts. Setting aside the quirky setup of the apartment, the fact that 4th so called "bedroom" is only accessible by going OUT of the house and then into the "apartment" through its own external entrance makes the listing misleading. The setup may work only for some travelers. Had we known that there are only 3 bedrooms in the house, we would have chosen a different property. We traveled as two families. Our friends occupied 2 out of 3 bedrooms, and the 5 of us stayed in the larger master suite. My son slept on the mattress we put on the floor in the master closet. Two other kids took the sitting nook: there is a daybed + we found another mattress to put on the floor next to the daybed. It was doable, but when you are paying for a 4BR house, you expect to find them all in the house. The property owner had multiple opportunities to disclose this crucial information about discrepancy between the listing and the actual layout during our booking process, but she did not. Quirks of the "efficiency apt": the queen bed is located in the kitchenette, and so is the shower stall. So persons lying in bed or washing dishes can see the person showering through the glass door. The door to the toilet is located between the kitchen sink and the shower stall. So there is no separation whatsoever between the kitchenette, the bathroom, and the sleeping areas. As a landlord myself, I believe this quirky setup should also be described in the listing. Other than that, it was a pretty decent house: big common rooms, equipped kitchen. Minor issues (which should not exist in a vacation rental in this price range): (1) three toilets have dusty faded notes "hold 3 secs after flushing" pinned to the wall. A new flash valve from Home Depot would solve this problem, no need for a handyman or a plumber. (2) The door to the outside in the master suite (in the laundry area) does not lock (the lock is broken) - it is a safety/security issue. (3) The front door blows open unless the dead bolt is engaged. (4) Decorative bed pillows and bedspreads, while surely pretty, have no place in a vacation rental, since they cannot be washed/changed between guests. Our white duvet cover was covered in black dog hair - eww – likely transferred from the non-washable bedspread they decorated the bed with.

great ski hideaway
Great spot -lots and lots of space - sheets beds clean - off the beaten track but not too far from town and ski spots- Quirky charms of an 80's era home! It worked great for our crew and the HOT TUB made it !!!!!
