Authentic house with beautiful surrounding but bad management

This is possibly our first time leaving a negative comment regarding rental holiday home as we travel often to whether civilised or remote areas (ex : Koyasan from Japan to Libya), however, we met the most chaos in this house. Firstly, BelVilla (the operating estate agency) doesn't wish to do efforts to communicate through VRBO platform if there's any question regarding specific info despite the fact that we book through VRBO is in order to use the general VRBO chat platform to communicate. The next, we'd the promise of an(after-long-mailing-instead-of-via-VRBO-) arranged late check-in time but the key was still not there so an eventual long trouble of phoning/searching. In addition, we thought the house would be bigger and independent( with 4 façades) as the photos/description show this but it's actually only partially. The stony house is separated into 3 parts and ours is only a third of it. Although the garden is indeed huge but you feel immediate a feeling of sharing garden with someone else. The house itself is well cleaned and maintained but no warm-hearted feelings. We literally brought and bought everything(even salt or dishwasher blocks were not provided). The last and the most disturbing part, the cleaning ladies came in before check-out time(9h45) without knocking the door and were rude to our family. All in all, we indeed enjoyed a few things in this house(ambient and charm) but the entire experience could have been better.

De oude sfeer van het grote huis is leuk. Het was ook best schoon. Maar de toiletten zijn niet heel hygiënisch te houden met bv scheurvorming en een provisorisch vloerzeiltje op de 1e verdieping. 2 gedeelde toiletten en 1 ijskast voor 14 p is wat karig. De hardstenen gootstenen zijn weliswaar historisch maar erg onhygiënisch mede door uitslijting waardoor viezigheid en water niet wegspoelt, maar deels blijft staan. Weinig sanitaire voorzieningen voor zoveel mensen. Zwembad was schoon maar in een gewelf diep onder de grond zonder daglicht. Wel populair bij de kinderen!

Nach unserem sehr positiven Besuch im Jahr 2024 haben wir dieses Jahr erneut gebucht – diesmal für einen Kurzurlaub unter der Woche mit der ganzen Familie. Die frühere Bewertung (Bert Verbaten, 1. Mai 2024) auf dieser Website trifft auch auf uns noch zu. Dank der guten Hygiene und der freundlichen Betreuung während unseres Aufenthalts verbrachten wir fantastische Tage.

Wir verbrachten ein wunderschönes Wochenende mit 14 Personen im Haus Madeleine. Wir aßen an einer langen Tafel, alles wurde selbst in der Küche zubereitet, das Wetter war herrlich, sodass wir draußen im großen Garten Getränke genossen und spielten. Der Swimmingpool ist toll, es gibt ausreichend Schlafzimmer, und für die Kinder war es ein großartiges Abenteuer in dem 300 Jahre alten Haus.

Het huis zag er op de foto's mooier uit dan het was. Voor ons gezelschap met ook 3 kleine kinderen prima. De keuken zou qua basis spullen wel een kleine upgrade kunnen krijgen; zo hing een late voor bestek van de vaatwasser met tyraps aan elkaar, was de blikopener niet te gebruiken en de messen die er lagen waren bot. Zeker als je moet koken voor een grote groep is dat niet fijn. De stofzuiger maakte zo'n lawaai en miste een wieltje waardoor we die ook zo min mogelijk hebben gebruikt. We misten een bezem/veger en blikopener.Basis dingen die toch eigenlijk wel in zo'n groot huis thuis horen. Positief was dat het er erg schoon was, heel fijn en t was ook heel fijn dat iedereen een eigen wastafel/douche had op of bij zn kamer. We hebben genoten van het zwembad in de kelder en hebben ook 2x gebruik gemaakt van de sauna. De tuin was prachtig, zeker in de herfstkleuren. We hadden al met al een fijne vakantieweek in de Ardennen.
