Otis and Teresa were guest hosts for Minam Lodge from 1999 to 2007. The only way in was by horse, hike or plane. They managed guest cabins, dude rides, and meals from May to November. We are so looking forward to sharing this special place with Equestrians and for larger group retreats or symposium.

Imagine waking to a beautiful Eastern Oregon morning, having a good breakfast, tacking up your horse doing a short haul to a trailhead on the Malheur National Forest riding in silence for hours coming home. Dry lotting your horse in a beautiful barn pasture with 60 foot round corral and 3 High Qual enclosures. Then coming back to the house and cooking a wonderful meal, relaxing in the hot tub or firing up the sauna. Massage numbers can be obtained to book with local therapists. Then the sunsets and no light pollution to wash out the stars and the night sky. It truly is a paradise. Dinner can be eaten inside or on one of the two spacious decks.

Teresa bakes sour dough bread in the wonderfully equipped kitchen. And on full moon nights there are black out curtains in two of the suites to insure a restful nights sleep. Those blackout curtains also work to keep the lodge style home cool during the day.

Peaceful

This is a beautiful home, on property. Conveniently located to John Day and Canyonville, yet just the right distance from them to be extremely peaceful! No sirens or horns. The home is large, great kitchen, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Large front and back decks to enjoy the outdoors. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, I was sad to leave. I was surrounded by deer and the beautiful scenery. The view from the front porch is spectacular and the starry night skies are huge. Beautiful home and property! I hope to be back some day!
