Our stay at the house was great. The beds were comfy, air conditioner worked great, house was very clean and easy to get to. We were in town to pick up our son who was graduating from Fort Ustis and was only a 20 minute drive. Would stay again if we were in the area.

Great!

We booked this rental literally hours before heading to Virginia from New Jersey and the hosts were so accommodating and responsive. The rental is exactly as described, very cozy and clean. They have every kitchen appliance known to man and a spacious backyard. When I asked if they had extra garbage bags, the host delivered it to our door within minutes. The price was great for what we rented as well!

Wonderful and extremely comfortable house.

Well maintained and more than adequately stocked with anything you would ever need to live. The kitchen appliances and amenities are fit for a chef… Quiet neighborhood large yard and close to shopping. Easy to get to and find. Ed and Margeret are very responsive and kind.

Perfect

My husband is receiving cancer treatment at the Hampton Proton Center. We live in Virginia beach, and going through the tunnel five days a week is very stressful. So staying close to the Center eliminated all the stress. Accommodations were perfect. If more treatment is needed in January, he'll be back, for sure! Asante sana, Margaret and Ed

Graduation Getaway

If you're looking for a bright, welcoming and comfortable place to stay, I highly recommend this sweet house. Super clean. Super comfy. And the air conditioning IS AWESOME. Ed and Margaret are wonderful hosts. They kept in contact to make sure we were happy and to see if we needed anything. Best part though, we flew in overnight and they let us check in early so we could get a shower and a nap. Go ahead and book a stay, you're going to love it.

We really enjoyed this house

We really enjoyed this house. We loved the large back lawn with beautiful trees edging it, the charcoal BBQ, and the outdoor table and chairs. The location is good and the owners are kind and keep the house very clean. That matters to me because I am allergic to dust mites. The house is almost a century old, with the small bedrooms and quaint design that go with a house from the early 20th century. The kitchen is modern and includes a washer and dryer, and the heat/air conditioning are also modern. The disadvantage was the nearby train, but we enjoy trains, so that wasn’t such a disadvantage to us.

Lovely home and great location

The home was very clean and the kitchen was well appointed with every kind of dish or small appliance you could need to make meals! Grocery close by as is Fort Eustis which is where I was going. The only reason this isn’t 5 stars the home is across the street from an active train track and it is also close to a crossing area and by law the locomotive must blow its horn. I never travel without white noise and there is a small fan in the front bedroom to reduce the sound. I fell right back to sleep the bed was quite comfortable! I reached out to the homeowners couple of times and was met with a quick friendly response. As long as my son is at Eustis I will stay again!

Great Stay for a short Trip

This home was a great place to stay for our short visit to Newport News. Although we didn't eat meals at the home, if you wanted to cook I think they had everything you could imagine. Note that the coffee pot is not a Kuerig, so don't bring your pods! The house was clean and the beds comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small, but enough to do the job. There are trains running through, you can hear them but strangely enough it's not distracting. I'm a light sleeper and didn't hear them at all once my eyes shut. The neighborhood was safe and had we stayed longer, it would have been great to sit outside. They do provide outdoor seating. There are stores at the end of the road. The Property Owner make clean up a breeze so you can quickly be on the road.

Relaxing Week

We just spent an enjoyable week at Faraja House and I can’t say enough good things about the home. Check-in was a breeze. The home is very clean with many amenities and small touches that really make you feel at home. Yes, the home is small and older, but we had plenty of room for 3 adults and a teen. The house is located across from active train tracks and we enjoyed watching them go by. If you are a light sleeper, they might be bothersome. We didn’t have any difficulties because the beds were so comfortable. This house is also extremely quiet. We all remarked several times at how quiet it was! The location was convenient and there are several grocery stores nearby. We prepared many meals in the exceptionally well-equipped kitchen and made use of the backyard grill. Ed & Margaret were very responsive to our messages and are wonderful hosts. Thank you again from our family.

Excellent gem, convenient to everything

My friends and I stayed at Faraja House for a tennis tournament held at CNU and Huntington Park. Both were an easy drive away as were numerous restaurants and stores. Communication with the hosts was beyond the expected. They truly wanted to make sure everything was good for us for our trip. They even left waters for the three of us in the fridge for when we got there. I had the fortune to meet one of the owners who was just as kind as the messages they send. The rooms and house were very clean, beds comfortable. We did not cook while we were there but did use the coffee maker. The outdoor space is huge and well kept! They obviously care for their property. All three of us agreed that if we need to book a house in this area again that we will definitely choose this one again. With all of this being said, the house is close to train tracks, and you can hear the train periodically. This in no way took away from our stay here. The few times a train went by didn't bother us at all, and otherwise the property is peaceful and quiet. We all felt quite safe and secluded. This is a rare gem that you will be glad you booked! We were!

An Absolute Delight!

We chose this property because it was close to our son's home. We couldn't have been more delighted! Our stay was over the Christmas/New Year holiday, and upon our arrival, we could see that it was decorated with outdoor holiday lights. That was unexpected and truly welcoming! We had gotten permission ahead of time to bring our small Christmas tree, and once that was set up we felt right at home, and we're warm and very cozy on Christmas morning. We absolutely loved it! About the house...this is a 3-bedroom home, and around 800 sq. ft. Each bedroom has a queen sized bed. It is an older home, so the closets are small and electrical outlets are scarce, but USB ports and plug strips are readily available to power devices. The photos are completely accurate, and the home is immaculate and comfortable. I cooked a lot, and the well-equipped kitchen supplied most of the tools I needed ( I brought my own specialty items.) The appliances were in excellent working order, countertops and floors scrupulously clean, and I had plenty of space to work (we rearranged some appliances to suit our needs and to provide more counter space.) The coffee maker made delicious coffee, and the toaster oven was wonderful. A modern, stacked, combo washer and dryer unit was tucked away in the corner of the kitchen, and worked beautifully. The bathroom, too, was immaculate and the shower very large. As other reviewers have mentioned, the water pressure is not piercing, the bathroom is small, with a pedestal sink with no countertops. This is an older house, so this size bathroom was perfectly acceptable to us. We found it charming. If one has a large family, or a large amount hair/makeup products, it could feel crowded, but we did not, so all worked very well for our needs. Trains. We've got to mention the trains! Disclaimer-my husband and I love, LOVE trains, so ours was a truly wonderful and enchanting experience. We sat, watched them go by, giggled every time we heard the whistle sound and the bells ring, and ran to the front of the house like a child runs to see an ice cream truck! The line is well used by both Amtrak and CSX, so the trains are a thing, but nighttime is very quiet. We loved this cozy little house and will return again, as often as Ed and Margaret will allow. 🙂 Until our son gets stationed elsewhere, when visiting we will call Faraja House "home." It was perfect for us in every way, and absolutely delightful.

This was our second stay at Faraja House, and we enjoyed it as much as the first time. My friends and I stayed here for a tennis tournament. The location is excellent for us, and it’s the perfect size. I barely heard any trains this time - they don’t bother us anyway. The property is very private and feels safe, but at the same time you are close to everything. The outdoor space is huge! Faraja House will definitely be my go to place to stay with my friends!!

Not good experience

We were contacted 30 minutes prior to checkin to let us know that we would be unable stay due to toilet issues. A few hours later the home was relisted at higher price. My family was 1230 miles from home and had to scramble to find a place. With the higher price listing it makes me wonder if there was really issues. Thank goodness for Hampton Inn having a room us.

Cozy home in a cute neighborhood

Well kept small home. Very close to my family in VA, so it worked well for us. The train is indeed loud, mostly because there is a street crossing and they blow the horn 4 times when approaching. Woke me up every time, but not the end of the world fo us. Because it's an older home, there are not a ton of outlets. The owners placed hubs strategically, which helped. The bathroom is small and your face is right at the sink when you're using the toilet. Again, not an issue for us, but a larger person might find it a challenge. The owners we responsive and timely. No complaints :)
