About this property
New Listing: Spacious Suite for 4x with panoramic ocean view
Our Tropical Treasure is situated at a cool 1300' elevation with a "million dollar view" over looking the ocean. The climate is perfect all year around. This 1-bedroom studio is a sanctuary after a day at the beach or exploring other parts of the island. This "mother-in-law-unit" has it's own private part of the house, which means you will have privacy as you occupy a complete section of the house at garden level. It's spacious, newly decorated and very quiet.
The bedroom has new queen-size bed with comfy chairs and a small desk. There is 1x twin bed on the covered lanai. The futon in the living room folds down into a full-size bed. It's great for 4x and palatial for 2x.
The kitchen has a brand new gas range and washer/dryer unit.
The screened-in lanai has an ocean view with a spectacular sunset where you can enjoy your breakfast, lunch, and dinners.
Most Hawaii visitors are full of plans to explore this beautiful island, and usually only come back to the house to sleep.
We used to host interns and volunteers and have had many people say: wow, this is awesome!
You will not only enjoy the privacy, the quiet neighborhood, and the view, but you can also rely on our local knowledge being in Kailua-Kona for 25 years.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is nicely furnished and the kitchen well equipped. The view of the sunset from the screened porch is beautiful! It’s a great location and an easy home base for touring the island. Thank you Martina!
If you are looking for where to stay on the big island you found it. The property was the perfect location, furnishings more than sufficient, and the sun sets worth the price alone.
A great location to have as home base for our stay.
Cool nights at this higher elevation made for great sleeping in the very comfortable bed.
There were many things that made our stay enjoyable.
Boogie boards, beach towels, beach chairs, cooler bag.... everything we needed.
Extremely great property. It’s close to a lot of places but off the beaten path. Quiet neighborhood (other than natures own noises but that’s what makes it great). Gorgeous views. Clean property. Would definitely stay here again
We had a wonderful time exploring the west side of big island while using Martina and James place as our “home away from home”. The location was perfect! The house is beautiful, clean and well appointed. My daughter loved the bed on the lanai. You can hear birds, frogs and chickens all around you while taking in the gorgeous views of the ocean.
I absolutely love this space. The palisades are my favorite place to stay in Kona. You can't beat the cool night air, the cozy safe neighborhood, and the "million dollar view" The property is clean, fantastically appointed and the screened in sleeping porch is a uniquely wonderful experience of fresh air and comfort. The hosts were kind and very responsive, I stayed an extra week because I felt so at home here. I truly don't want to leave!
I am a single man with property in the Kaloko area where I intend to build a house. Kona Palisades was close to my property, very clean, quiet, roomy, nicely furnished, and with a very well-equipped kitchen.
Martina and James were cordial, welcoming, and quickly responsive to any questions I had.
I will stay there again this June.
Very clean and well appointed apartment. Dedicated parking right next to the door. Screened porch was great at night to listen to the tropical birds and bugs and watch beautiful sunsets over the ocean.
Beach chairs, towels and 2 boogie boards were included. Nice big smart TV and good internet. Good kitchen and propane grill for cooking. Short drive to airport, Kona and our favorite beach.
We would definitely stay their again.
This property was conveniently located to the airport and many beautiful beaches. It was very clean and plenty of comfortable space. We utilized the complete kitchen and conveniently cooked many of our meals. The view from the screened in porch was spectacular. The hosts were accommodating and available if anything was needed. Beach chairs, coolers, ice packs, etc. we’re all available which was a thoughtful touch. We had a wonderful time,
Glen H.

Third stay at Kona Palisades
After having stayed twice before without incident, I had a misunderstanding with the host.
On the positive side, this apartment has a nice, well-equipped kitchen, a spacious living room and porch, and a large, but tricky to operate shower.
On the negative side, the driveway is steep, and the parking very tight and limited. The towels smell of mildew. The coqui frogs are so loud at night that you have to sleep with earplugs and the windows closed.
You will be staying beneath the home of real people in a real neighborhood with all of the compromises therein. The next door neighbor drives a loud truck with a wall shaking stereo, and he could be heard in a rage shouting profanity one evening.
Martina, the hostess is civil, however, her husband made no effort to introduce himself or be friendly during my three lengthy stays at their property.
Rather than friendly conversations, the host likes to communicate by email response through VRBO, but I found that difficult to keep up with as the wifi was not working, and not everyone can receive emails on their phones.
Apparently, Martina was gone during this stay, and I had a misunderstanding with her husband about an offer to charge my car at a safe rate while paying twice the cost for electricity. In retrospect, that was my mistake, and he blew it up into a bizarre set of accusations.
Don‘t think that you will be staying in a five star hotel.
You‘ll be okay as long as you follow the “rules and warnings,“ as he put it, of the host.
