Summary:
The Cozy Island Cottage is nestled under the shade of large live oak trees on James Island. Conveniently located 5 miles from Folly Beach and downtown, you are just minutes from the best Charleston has to offer. This new construction "beachy farmhouse" cottage features an open floor plan, 17 ft cathedral ceilings, fully stocked kitchen, live edge slab island bar top, over 250 sqft of outdoor living space, a bedroom with queen on main floor, and loft with queen bed accessed by a spiral staircase.

The Space:
This spacious, well designed cottage offers a full kitchen with all the essentials, comfortable tiled shower with rain shower-head, and detachable shower-head, easy key-code access, Wifi, two flat screen smart TV's, laundry room, inside and outside seating areas, grill area, outdoor shower and ample space in the large shady backyard to play and entertain. The spiral staircase to access the loft is narrow. If you have trouble climbing stairs or are over 250lbs using this staircase may be challenging. Beach chairs, an umbrella, a cooler, a portable speaker are provided for you convenience as well as coffee, sugar, bath and beach towels, bed linens, paper towels, toilet paper, and soaps.

Guest Access:
In addition to the cottage, guests have access the to the fenced-in 1/2 acre backyard, with ample parking for cars, boats, RVs etc. (backyard is shared with home owner and guest of the Island Hideout). Guests also have access to the outdoor grill beside the deck.

The Neighborhood:
Centrally located in a convenient James Island neighborhood, only a quick 5-mile drive or Uber ride to both Folly Beach and Downtown Charleston. Beautiful James Island County Park is close by as well as restaurants, bars, shopping, banking, and convenience stores within a half-mile.

Getting Around:
Uber and Lyft are plentiful and affordable. There are also local yellow cabs, limo services, and a public transit.

Other Things to Note:
There are two other units, The Island Hideout and The Island Nest, attached to the rear of the front house, that may house other guests during your stay. The structures are separated by about 200' but are on the same half acre property so please be courteous.

The Cozy Island Cottage is the Stand alone in the back corner of the yard.

Cozy In Charleston

Close to everything in the area. Good barbecue nice beach nearby We had fun at the Riverdogs baseball game. I’d love to stay at the tiny place and work on refurbishing the old boat on the property

Beautiful little cottage that was perfect for my husband, myself & our lab. 20 minutes to downtown Charleston or 15 minutes to Folly Beach. Our host was easy to work with; communication was excellent! Would definitely stay here again👍🏻

The little dream house

We loved this place! Cutest little romantic little house. We were even greeted with a nice bottle of red wine. Everything was super clean and cozy. The house itself will make you want one just like it!! We would LOVE to stay again soon!!

Golf Trip

Owner was quick to respond. Location is very close to Folly Beach, and 30-40 minutes to Kiawah for our golf courses. Location was also 10 minutes to downtown Charleston. Good for small group.

Very cute cottage.

Cottage was well appointed, quiet and in a good location with a gated yard. We were able to walk our small dog without ever leaving the property. Beds were super comfortable. Hosts were very responsive. Make sure you have BOTH codes (gate and house) before arrival for easy check-in.

15 minutes to the county park beach, 10 minutes to Charleston, 10 minutes to Folly Beach Downtown area, 3 minutes to Publix and this little gem is secluded in the backyard of another home - the gated backyard made us feel very safe and it was very quiet. We had great time - would come back definitely. Highly recommended

Beautifully designed cottage, great yard!

I cannot recommend this place enough! I am a local James Islander whose condo is under reconstruction, and I work from home. This little cottage is nestled in the back of a fenced in private property in a very convenient location, and it has been my home away from home while I’m “homeless.” I just rebooked this place for a third time during my condo’s reconstruction process because I love it so much. The high ceilings, floor length windows, and beautifully designed interior with giant trees surrounding the building make it feel like you are literally staying in a treehouse. It is private with a lovely patio area and fantastic outdoor setup for my little dog, who has enjoyed having plenty of space to play fetch with his ball. The outdoor shower is amazing and I highly recommend using it. The host David has been incredibly responsive and helpful and given us an all round stellar experience!

Not what we expected

The property itself was in great condition, clean, like new condition, close to most attractions and provided beach chairs/towels. The shower was luxurious and the details in the house were on display. There were numerous downsides though. We stay in VRBO properties annually, and have never had some of the experiences that we discovered with this property. First, prior to arrival, we had to agree to a multi page contract that explicitly stated no visitors allowed. Next, we were given a “guidebook” which was exceedingly difficult to access on their online platform. It contained required material to check in/check out in compliance with their policies. If it weren’t for a 1 page laminated checklist of what we are responsible for during check out, I would have been guessing if I did everything needed. We arrived and were dismayed that the rental really was nothing more than a granny house located on the same 1/4 acre property as two other rentals, with an unavoidable view of their collection of run down and junked boats. Furthermore, there was an IR camera viewing the deck area, which completely stripped us of any sense of privacy. We entered the property, and the fumes from fresh paint overwhelmed us. (and they lingered the entire week). Also, the AC system was very difficult to balance temperatures, particularly in the master bedroom. I will say though that the hosts were very nice and easy to communicate with, but the experience was beyond fixing, and certainly not worth the money paid. Such a shame..

The "Cozy Cottage" was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Charleston. Located just outside of town, it provided us with a quiet and clean place to retire after a full day of sight seeing.

Mini Getaway

Home is absolutely stunning. You can tell that the owners really thought it through as far as layout, cleanliness, and location. Felt very cozy and definitely something that we would love to return to at our next getaway to Charleston. Close to all your needs and not far from Folly Beach. 🏝️ Only thing I would personally change is to make sure to have spare sheets, covers, and pillows for the sofa/bed. The instructions sheets stated that there were spare items located in the treasure chest but there were none so just make sure to provide for upcoming bookings. But other than that it was a fantastic stay!

Awesome place

We really enjoyed staying at the cottage, it was very clean, in a quiet neighborhood, and close proximity to the beach. The communication with the host was great. Loved the keyless easy entry and best of all our dog was welcomed as well. The huge fully fenced in yard gave us piece of mind when we were all sitting outside. Great place would definitely come back!

Christmas getaway

The cottage is precious and comfortable. Very safe behind secure fence. David and Deidra were very responsive to all questions. Had I read all the information provided at check in I wouldn’t have been such a bother. The stairs up to the loft are narrow and tricky for an older person but worked fine for 30 something’s. Great location loved it!

Perfect place for a getaway!

The cottage is surprisingly roomy for its size. They used the space perfectly. It was cozy, comfortable , and had everything we needed. The owner was very responsive and worked with our requests. The shared yard is big enough that we never really saw the other guests. The location is also wonderful. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and hope to frequent this little cottage often !!
