For a Pet Friendly option, Larry-the Host, and the property were just right for us. It is filled with beautiful art, by the owners! We have stayed in more luxurious cabins, but for the VALUe, this is it! To hear the stream running outside in the brook, it was perfect.

Distance makes good neighbors
I don't like sharing a house with others -- particularly a guy who sat outside on his porch smoking -- I couldn't be on my deck, which was directly above his porch, during that time. He was a nice guy, and fortunately was only there one of my five nights. I would have been quite miserable had he stayed and continued to smoke there. Great location in terms of proximity to town, to Ashville and even close-by hikes.

When can we go back?
We LOVED this property. It gave our family the right space to enjoy each other’s company (& space away when we needed it). The creek was a blast for the kids and the location made it easy to get to so much. Book it ASAP. It’s a winner.

About the host

Host profile image
When Teresa and I were married we each had a home. We moved into Teresa's home together and I rented my cabin home (Molly's Ridgetop Cabin Retreat) as a vacation rental for 4 years. Unfortunately, a local ordinance in Asheville ended short term rentals for most property owners in Asheville. We purchased this home with the intended purpose to rent as a vacation rental. This home is as close as you can get to Asheville, while being just outside of the city limits that is affected by the vacation rental ordinance. Most homes in Asheville can now only be rented partially such as a basement. Larry has been a landlord for over 25 years, owning a 12 unit apartment building and two vacation rental homes. We are experienced property managers and are proud of our great review history in the other vacation rental property we had once owned. Ox Glenn Coach house is now the only property we now own other than our own live in home. We love the area and we love sharing this home with our guests. We do vacation in this home ourselves. We purchased this home because it has nearly a 25 year history as a vacation rental in the Asheville area, with great 5 star reviews. Teresa and I are artists and together we are opening up a pottery studio in this home's garage. We both enjoy making pottery and we both paint and Teresa also makes Jewelry. We love bicycling and hiking the many trails within close proximity to this home. I enjoy golfing at the Reems Creek Course and other great courses in the immediate area. This is truly a great outdoor enthusiast get away and is very peaceful and quiet with the sounds of Ox Creek to keep you company. We love that this home is only 15 minutes from out own home, so it is easy for us to manage maintenance, cleaning, and to visit our guests when the opportunity is there. We both worked for Blue Ridge Parkway, for many years and we enjoy the home's close (within 2 miles) of the Parkway where we now play and instead of work.

Why they chose this property

Ox Glenn Vacation rentals is located on 13 acres on an Appalachian Mountain slope. It is a vacation rental community of 4 vacation homes that are great accommodations for large group events such as a marriage or class reunion. It is located in beautiful rural farm country with historic cattle, berry, and organic farms. The Reems Creek Valley in which it is located has great views of the surrounding Blue Ridge and Black Mountain ranges. This property is located only 2 miles from Blue Ridge Parkway, with all of its great bicycle touring, motorcycle and car touring, and great hiking trail system of over 200 miles of trails. The Parkway is a nationally known scenic national Parkway that is 469 miles long with 276 overlooks. Both Teresa and I were employed with Blue Ridge Parkway for nearly 18 years. Larry was a Project Manager, and Teresa was a fee collection Ranger. We love to vacation in this home ourselves because of its rural setting on the beautiful Ox Creek, which borders this property. I love to fish the local stream for trout and enjoy its convenience for bicycle touring Blue Ridge Parkway. This home is within 2 miles of the most popular bicycling routes on the Parkway through Asheville to Craggy Gardens going north and Mount Pisgah and the Smoky Mountains NP to the south. This home has many luxery homes as your neighbors and is one of the most popular scenic area in the Asheville and Weaverville area. The historic downtown Weaverville with its art galleries, restaurants, bakeries, music concerts, and outdoor recreational opportunities is very convenient to this home. We fully enjoy sitting on the deck to hear the flow of Ox Creek. You can enjoy a picnic at our table along side the creek within a short walking distance from the house. There is a great spot on the stream for outdoor weddings and there are 4 properties to provide housing for an entire wedding party. We enjoy hiking the many trails in the immediate area.

What makes this property unique

This home is specially located to enjoy all that the Blue Ridge Parkway has to offer. It is a 10 minute drive to the Parkway Visitor Center where you can learn about its trails, popular bicycle touring and mountain bicycling routes and most any outdoor activity there is to offer in the area. We love the quiet rural setting with its historic farms, views across open fields to great views of the Appalachian Mountains beyond. You will enjoy the beautiful Ox Creek within sight and sound of your deck. You can grill out on the deck and eat your supper on our picnic table located right along side Ox Creek. This home is highly convenient to downtown Asheville with all of its night life, shopping, museums, antique shops, restaurants, microbreweries, theaters, distilleries, the Biltmore House, and all that Asheville has to offer as can be discovered on Explore You have year around activities here with all there is to do in summer and skiing in winter. This is a duplex home with a 1 Br. 1 Ba home, which comfortable sleeps 2 guests or the 2 Br 2 Ba home on the upper level, which comfortably sleeps 6. Each unit can be rented separately or both units can be rented together if available with family and friends. You can make a trip to the Biltmore Estate for the day, which is less than a 20 minute drive away along the scenic parkway, elk mountain scenic highway, or other country roads through Weaverville.
