Ski Access
You can ski directly to our garage door from the top of any of 8 ski lifts serving Lone Mountain. There are 2 routes to our neighborhood. Both branch off of Lower Morningstar ski run. A skier that knows these runs can ski nonstop to the house. A slower or less proficient skier will have to pole and slide for approximately 100 yards on either route. A complete description of these routes are in the unit.
There are 4 options for getting to the base area from the house.
First option. Walk 100 feet to the end of driveway, Access the ski return from White Otter lift line run, walk on the fairly level run for 250 feet, put on skiis, coast 250 feet, walk 50 feet, load White Otter double chairlift, Ride to top, then ski to base area. Total time 15 to 20 minutes.
Second option. Walk 150 feet to bus stop. Get on free mountain loop bus which runs every half hour from 854 am until 10pm. Ride bus for 6 minutes to base area. Walk 400 feet to Swiftcurrent or Ramcharger lifts. Total time 15 minutes.
Third option. Walk 600 feet from our house, through the Cedar Creek Condominiums parking lots, around building 7, to Sitting Bull Road. Catch continuous parking lot shuttle at satellite lot closest to Cedar Creeks. Ride to base area. Walk 300 feet to Swiftcurrent or Ramcharger lifts. Total time 20 minutes.
Fourth option. Drive car 2 minutes to free skier parking lot. Catch parking lot shuttle to base area. Walk 300 feet to Swiftcurrent or Ramcharger lifts. Total time 15 minutes.
The advantage of our location is that you have options. If you decide to enjoy some Apre Ski cocktails at the base area and the lifts are closed for the day, The free mountain loop bus can take you home. If you want to go to the base area in the evening to shop, dine or bar hop, the free mountain loop bus is handy. If there is a big powder dump and the walk along the ski return run would be daunting, relax, just take the options 2. 3 or 4. It's nice to have options.

About the host
Hosted by Bob Bauerle

We have lived in Montana since 1983. Started skiing Big Sky in 1990. We purchased our first condo here in 1999. The last 12 winters we skied 60 days or more here each year. I was a ski host and a volunteer mountain safety patroller. We have decided to just ski 6 weeks a season so are now making our home available to vrbo skiers. If I'm in the area when you rent, I'd be happy to give you a mountain tour and show you some secret stashes of powder.
Why they chose this property
We watched Big Sky grow and get noticed for it's pristine beauty and incredible ski terrain. In 1990 you could ski powder with no one else around. Today we have high speed lifts with heated seats and a few more visitors. The powder gets skied out faster, but there really are very few skiers here compared to other western resorts.
What makes this property unique
Our home is close to the base, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. If you want to walk to a bar or restaurant you can. Other wise a free bus comes by every hour for a 5 minute trip to the base area. Ski home to our front door. Walk 5 minutes to the lift in the morning. You might see a moose or fox on the way.
