A special place

The home, the manager, the owner, the driver, and the location were all exceptional! We have stayed in homes all over the world but this home offered additional quality with beautiful artwork, extremely comfortable furniture and beds, great cooking arena, and space for the 4 of us to spread out. We felt welcome and cared for in an extremely well appointed and clean environment setting the highest standard for rental homes! We are most appreciative to the owner in particular.

Stylish and comfortable cottage with a fabulous pool

The cottage was very spacious and stylish with lots of interesting and unusual artwork. The entire property was so comfortable you could immeditely make it a home from from home. We found it to be much better equipped than other properties we have stayed at (above and beyond the holiday-let standard) and the owner really cares about your holiday experience which was very welcome. The check in was well organised and the local contact is on hand to answer any questions - she also has a great sense of humour! The cottage was very bright and clean and so very comfortable - great beds, bathrooms and super-comfy pool furniture. Oh and the pool itself was stunning, sparkling and much bigger than some of the little splash pools we have experienced before. We loved this cottage and hope to visit again one day. Thanks Margot, Jules and Ria.....goodbye until next time

Lovely and charming, well furnished cottage on perfect location in Franschhoek

Well, seeing the picture popping up for this review turns me home-sick immediately! We've had a wonderful stay at Maison Chenin, we were fortunate to spent 3 months in Franschhoek in the 2017 'winter' season of South Africa. The days were actually very sunny, most of the time, at night it could get a little chilly. But, this was a very mild winter, with hardly any rain or wind. The house is very charming, lovely decorated with a warm and cosy atmosphere. One will feel at home right away. Margot and Jules had left us with a well prepared welcome, the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets were filled with milk, snacks, pasta, a bottle of wine, etc. Margot has a map with lots of suggestions of what one could do or where to go, we've visited quite some restaurants on her advice and loved it. Enjoyed our last dinner at Marigold, wonderful indian cuisine in Franschhoek. Franschhoek knows quite a few galleries, shops, lovely restaurants and of course, beautiful wine estates. Staying in South Africa is a treat, a joy, and if one stays at Franschhoek, Maison Chenin will complete this feeling perfectly. The house is comfortably equipped with the necessary tools, as is the kitchen, though one will probably prefer to have dinner in one of the surrounding restaurants. Due to the season, though mild, we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the swimming pool but don't forget to spent time in this lovely garden, out on the veranda, were having breakfast or enjoying a braai will complete your day. Thank you Margot and Jules, we had a wonderful time!

Wat een smaakvol ingericht knus huis met heel veel privacy, goed beveiligd. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien de ligging is perfect lopend naar het prachtige dorpje met zijn heerlijke restaurants. De omgeving is prachtig. We hebben nog gebruik gemaakt van het appartement in Kaapstad van dezelfde eigenaren de combinatie is een dikke aanrader. Nogmaals in een woord geweldig!

A beautiful cottage in superb condition

Chenin Cottage is beautifully furnished, well equiped and maintained. The lounge/dining room is double height with an African theme, very impressive and at the same time comfortable and functional. Bedrooms of equal size with very nice en-suite bathrooms and nice fluffy towels. Pool is well situated and we swam in it every day of our stay. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Cottage

My wife and I spent 2 glorious weeks in Chenin Cottage. The weather was absolutely beautiful which meant we could spend a lot of time by the large swimming pool.The pool is surrounded by a tall,thick hedge making it very private. The house is incredibly well equipped. The location is very handy for all the restaurants in Franschhoek,a ten minute stroll into town with a Pick & Pay supermarket at the end of the road. We bought some sausages at Stellanbosch market and brought them back to cook on the gas fired barbecue.Even though it was usually 90 degrees during the day,the inside of the house doesn't get too hot.The bedrooms are air conditioned if you want it but we didn't need to turn it on.Although there were only 2 of us the house is ideally suited for 2 couples in the way that it is laid out.We had a lovely time and i would recommend Chenin Cottage to anybody.
