Welcome to Casa do Galvão - Casa de Campo - (T. E.R.) Rural Tourism

Built and registered in 1947, by António Galvão. Restored (according to Ordinance No. 937/2008) for tourism purposes and as a means of disseminating the entire Alvôco valley and surroundings. Located in the Serra da Estrela Natural Park on the right bank of the River Alvôco, where its pure and crystalline waters contrast with the green landscapes.
The rural peace for a vacation or just a weekend getaway.
Discover wonderful tourist spaces such as the Tower (Serra da Estrela), the village of Piodão, as well as the banks of the River Alvoco, which provide fabulous moments of leisure and fun.

Cozy house, but very small shower and a little too far away from basic infrastructure (supermarkets, pharmacies and medical services) from what we needed. We did not find it adequate for families with small infants, better for couples. But communication with Sofia was very good.

A wonderful casket at a lovely place

It´s quite simple: perfect house & perfect host [Thanks Sofia!] at a perfect place. If you are looking for a calm, small paradise go there. It´s a really romantic place and perfect to enjoy nature. Aguincho is a little village in a wonderful valley with a river for bathing. Directly in front of Aguincho there´s a very good trail for doing some walks - serious hiking needs some travelling by car or you are tough enough to do the Torre from here. Quite close to Aguincho at Barriosa you´ll find the wonderful restaurant Guarda Rios - absolute recommendation! Three hints for visitors: 1) Enter an Intermarche before you travel there and buy your stuff - it´s quite a trip. 2) Don´t travel here with a huge car, the roads are small indeed. 3) Don´t underestimate travelling to Torre by car - but it´s really worth a look. We will come back!

Recomendable conocer la Sierra de la Estrella. Es un entorno natural espectacular que en verano te permite darte un baño en las numerosas pozas naturales que posee. A pocos minutos de la casa hay una de ellas. Tener en cuenta que no es un entorno para personas con movilidad reducida.No es posible dejar de probar el queso producido en la zona. Es un queso muy tierno, tipo amantecado, para untar en el pan. No ha habido un día que no lo comiese. Es adictivo.En cuanto a la casa está muy bien. Hemos tenido días de altas temperaturas y la parte de arriba, donde están salón y cocina, es calurosa. La inferior, donde están los dormitorios si es más fresca. La limpieza muy bien y los servicios de cama y baño también.El punto a mejorar es el de utensilios de cocina y vajilla. Nos encontramos que no había tijeras, cuchillos grandes para corte, espumaderas ni sartenes antiadherentes para poder freír un huevo o hacer revueltos. En el tema de vasos sólo dispusimos de unos pequeños. Si te apetece tomar en ese maravilloso entorno, en tus días de vacaciones, una copa gin tonic o un rum cola ya os podéis olvidar. Advertimos de esto a la propiedad, pero tuvimos que comprar un juego de vasos en un supermercado de Covilhã. Comentamos como sugerencia de mejora, y entendemos que es fácil de conseguir.Ciao

Peaceful village; beautiful small river.

The value is really great and it was the best equipped, most private, and cleanest place I've ever stayed at. The hosts were remarkably warm, helpful, and friendly, and the house was charming with nice outdoor options--garden, patio/balcony, bbq, and just down the road a beautiful little river with places to swim with no one around. This is a perfect refuge, great place to restore yourself.

Férias de verão na serra

Casa com tudo para passar uns dias de descanso, no meio da Serra. Aldeia sem carros no seu interior, ficam à entrada da mesma. Acesso ao rio com uma pequena lagoa ao lado da aldeia para nos podermos refrescar.

Rio e Serra

Rio Alvoco com água transparente e quente, com as suas “piscinas” grandes e “privadas”. Passamos horas dentro água. A Serra verde, também foi uma novidade, estávamos a áspera de ver muitas pedras e ficamos a conhecer uma nova serra. Muito verde, muita água, muitas aldeias pequenas perdidas no meio dos vales com casas muito próprias e pessoas acolhedoras. Muito bom para descansar e repor energias (não temos restaurantes, cafés, supermercados e lojas para “passar o tempo”).

Si vous recherchez un gîte cosy et chaleureux dans un petit coin de montagne au calme, vous y trouverez votre bonheur. Nous avons eu un accueil des plus agréable, le gîte propose tout le confort et matériel nécessaire pour passer d'excellentes vacances. Un grand merci aux propriétaires très souriants et attentionnés, qui ont rendu nos vacances très reposantes et agréables, aussi bien pour nous que pour nos trois enfants!! Uma casa espetacular com uns anfitriões fantástico.

Gostámos muito da casa. Acolhedora com todas as condições e equipamentos. No entanto o local é de difícil acesso. A praia fluvial fica apenas a 500m mas tem acesso difícil com uma zona íngreme o que dificultando o acesso para quem tem crianças ou pessoas de idade. A zona envolvente é linda mas a aldeia não tem nada e para nos deslocarmos temos sempre de recorrer ao veículo automóvel, sendo a estrada bastante estreita e com muitas curvas até às aldeia vizinha. Para quem quer descansar e ficar longe de tudo e todos é sem dúvida o local ideal.

Très bon séjour à Aguincho, Sofia et son mari ont été adorable et très serviable. La maison est superbe et très calme c'est un endroit très reposant avec de très jolis coins tout proche. Je recommande pour les fans et de montagne et de la nature.

Nice cottage in lovely quiet countryside. We did find the property difficult to find as our sat nav was confused ! No supermarkets near so be sure to stock up well before arriving. Very clean , beds comfortable and well equipped.

Sophia met us upon our arrival and although we had never met her she made our drive to our rental worth the anxiety we experienced driving the narrow roads and hairpin turns. She had a fire going for us and the heat turned up due to the cold weather Portugal was experiencing during our trip. Our rental was spotlessly clean with lots of clean towels and appliances that all worked. She had information on local trails and even drove us to the next village to help us get some groceries. If you enjoy nature and breath taking views at every turn than this is this place for you. All this said though you may wish to take most if not all of your food and beverages with you as there is not much close by to buy this sort of stuff. Our only regret was having to leave this area.

Relaxing experience in the heart of rural Portugal

We chose the house for its closeness to the heart of Serra da Estrela, for the quiet of its surroundings, and for its charm judging from the photos: the house is just like on the pictures online. It is cool Inside, especially the downstairs rooms, and with the altitude it is cool at night in the area. The house has 3 outsides spaces, so you can be in the shade or in the sun as you choose at every hour of the day. The surroundings are truly beautiful: the mountain-sides felt a bit daunting at first, but we got to really enjoy the sight of the nearby villages (Vasco Esteves, Alvoco da Serra, Loriga...). Closeby activities included walking in the mountains, relaxing at the house in the sunshade, and swimming in the amazing brooke at the foot of the village!! A day-trip to Coimbra or Piódão is easy. The house is very conveniently equipped, there are no shops in Aguincho itself, but there are smaller and larger shops as well as great restaurants in nearby villages, and a baker stops by everyday in Aguincho. The hosts were very helpful and kind, and the house was spotless clean.

Friendly and quiet accommodation

We enjoyed the stay in the charming and very quiet Casa Calvao very much. Everything in the house is of the best quality and everything necessary is available. In this valley there are infinitely many wonderful walks and also bathing in the river is announced. We met the nicest people in Aguincho and the surrounding villages. Many Thanks! Many greetings to our friends in the LAF bar in Fradigas.

Great deal, nice place.

This little house is located in a nearly depopulated village, The surroundings are peaceful, the house is charming and provides nearly everything. It is wonderfully free of knick knacks, everything is there including a dishwasher, a washing machine is nearby. The mattresses are a bit hard (as they are everywhere in Portugal) and the shower is tiny - you can't bend over, if you drop something you need to get out of the stall to pick it up. As everywhere in Portugal, there is a bidet, which used to be a nice fixture before people had showers. The woodburning stove is great, but we would have liked a bit more comfortable seating around it - another small couch. The outdoor seating areas are very nice, enhanced by several very friendly visiting cats. Very comfortable outdoor chairs are provided. Linens, cutlery and dishes are plentiful. We would have liked more than 1 dish soap tablets :-) Overall, this place was by far the nicest and the best deal of the 4 we rented. Highly recommended.
