About the host
Hosted by Richard Joyce
Caryl and I bought this cottage spontaneously in 2007 after hiking up to Agios Stefanos from the sea and falling in love with the authenticity of the place, and the amazing views. We are both teachers, me a retired one. We spend some time at Easter there and longer in the summer. Over four years we have done up simply and comfortably the interior of this typical Greek house and added a lovely roof space with a pergola for shade, and we eat most evenings there, enjoying the quiet, the views and the stars! We have looked for a long time for somewhere where we can get away from it all, read, write, take photos, walk, swim and not watch tele. This is it.
Why they chose this property
We have both had an on-going love affair with the Greek islands for years. We wanted somewhere with easy proximity to the sea but remote enough to be peaceful as well as being authentic. We found it in Agios Stefanos and the location of the property, at the edge of the village, gives us privacy when we do not feel like socialising. However the village is very social; there are four cafes dotted around it, lovely local people, as well as quite an international feel to the place. The walks from the village are plentiful and various. It did not take us long to decide on this place.
What makes this property unique
We enjoy the privacy, the friendliness, the views, the simplicity.
