AMAZING Leland location 3BR/2+Baths Access 4 LK MI/3 LK Leelanau BEACHES/sunsets
Fully updated home with 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and an outdoor shower. Location in town Leland does not get any better than this. Walk to everything in the village. Walk to 4 different easy access Lake Michigan beaches, walk half block to Leland River for kayaking, fishing, paddleboarding, boat launch. Walk to Lake Leelanau beach and dock access at the end of Pearl St. walk to 2 other Lake Leland public accesses in town. Village Green park across the street. New playground half block away at the Leland Public School. This is a wonderful cottage providing modern updates - new primary suite and outdoor shower. Yet also unique in its historic cottage charm. Situated ideally in the heart of the village of Leland, Michigan, and Leelanau County. One block off Main Street yet so convenient for outings and in town activities, restaurants, winery half block away. Look for the original 10-inch plank floors in the living room and custom carpentry throughout. Modern eat-in kitchen, two dining areas inside, and wonderful sitting areas and garden outside. A new master suite and ensuite master bath addition, and extensive renovations/restoration in Summer 2020. Other upgrades included interior upgrades to the guest bathroom, a redesigned/upgraded laundry room, and two outdoor patio areas.
Walk to Lake Michigan beach access north and south of the Leland Harbor, Lake Leelanau, and Nedows Bay access at the end of Pearl Street, a short walk away. Walk to the Leland Country Club, Leland Yacht Club, Hancock Field for tennis or basketball - playground, walk to all the shops, galleries, cafes, library, and cultural center at the Old Art Building and Leelanau Historical Museum. Order a late evening ice cream cone across the street or take a glass of wine and walk a few short steps to the Leland Harbor at sunset each evening @Fishtown as the sun hides behind the Manitou Islands. Always a beautiful way to end the day, regardless of the time of year.
The cottage is extremely efficient. If entering from the eastside/driveway, you will arrive in a generous combination laundry/mudroom area. Ideal for wet bathing suits and towels - or removing snow gear. A great place to stage cut flowers or fruit from the farmers market just across the street. The kitchen is a large eat-in/sit-in space where guests will not want to leave. There is a private porch and garden seating area on the Southside of the house, accessed off the kitchen - nice for entertaining in and out. There is an open living and dining space with a wood-burning stove, inviting and cozy for relaxing or gathering. Upstairs is a well-crafted sleeping space with two separate bedrooms. Efficient spaces with built-ins for storage. Private, warm spaces which invite guests to read or nap peacefully away from it all.
The cottage is 30 walking steps to the river and 83 walking steps to Leland Harbor. You will walk or easily bike everywhere> grocery, library, wine tasting, meals, golf, tennis, paddle board, kayak, shop for art, books, gear right here.
Easy drives to all Leelanau County has to offer> local wineries, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore starts 7 miles south of town. There are (4) easy yet spectacular hikes within 2-3 miles of the cottage. Leelanau State Park is at the tip of the peninsula, offering trails and tours of the historic lighthouse at Cathead Bay. About the host
Hosted by Melissa Crimmins

the Bloom Cottage has wonderful history in the village of Leland. the main part of the house was the original butcher shop and dates to the late 1800s. It was clearly a main part of the village and considered the "center" of town activities. You may hear a local historian speaking about the cottage history during her summer "walking tours" in town. The cottage was purchased in recent years by a long time Leland Summer resident for their family to enjoy year around. They enjoyed many visits to the cottage dating back to 1980s and knew it would make a wonderful retreat for their children sharing family traditions and appreciation for Leland and Leelanau County.
Why they chose this property
it is in the most ideal location in the center of the Village of Leland right across from the Leelanau Conservancy - Village Green. Walk to everything, bike around town and the county - you do not need a car in town Leland. Kayak or paddle board up the river into Lake Leelanau or bike down a few short blocks to Lake Michigan access.
