Great location

The location and outdoor ambiance could not be any better. Clear Creek Fitness Trail is attached to the property. The trail is easy to walk and beautiful. Close to Chain Rock and Pine Mountain Resort. We enjoyed the fire pit and outdoor nature which was part of the home. We want to go back.

Awesome stay!

The house was clean, contained everything needed in a kitchen, has enough space for gathering and privacy at the same time. The property is spacious with many trails to explore. Wether you are looking to relax, go on an adventure or just get away peacefully - this is the place!

Great house and property!

We stayed at this property with our extended family and it was perfect! The house was very clean and spacious. It was nice to all be able to be together under one roof while still having our own space. We had three young kids with us who loved running in the open space and by the creek. There is also nice hiking very close by. We would love to come back again for another family get together!

Great Getaway Location

We spent a long weekend here with two other couples. The house offers plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen is well-stocked and large - we found all of the kitchenware that we needed for meal preparation. Close to Cumberland Gap National Park, sight-seeing and hiking was a short drive away. We really enjoyed pre-dinner conversation on the spacious front porch, and after-dinner conversation at the fire pit one evening. We would not hesitate to return.

Amazing! We hope to return!

I wouldn't know where to start to tell you about this house! We rented it for 11 days for my son's wedding and medical school graduation a week apart. We had extended family with us and also held the rehearsal party there where alot more people than expected showed up and we were completely comfortable! The beauty of this home and property is one of a kind! Cant wait to come back!

Beautiful Spacious Mountain Home

My family spent several days enjoying this beautiful home. The listing and pictures are very accurate. The home is huge- with many sitting rooms to relax and enjoy this peaceful setting. The kitchen is also very spacious with all amenities available to prepare meals. While the property is very private, there are several grocery stores and restaurants just 10 minutes down the highway. The owner, Jim, was quick to answer all my questions. Our 3 kids, ages 2, 5, and 8 played for hours in the front creek. My mother and father-in-law found the place to be wonderful as well. We took day trips and hikes to Pine Mountain State Resort Park and Cumberland Gap National Park- both were beautiful and well worth a visit. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to a family looking for a quiet getaway to the mountains.

An Idyllic Family Getaway

This spacious home is a HOME that makes you feel...well, at home. It is spacious and accomodating - everything you need is there, in the kitchen, paper products, etc... they even have a great selection of books to read! My husband and I have 2 children and we made a sort of apartment out of the room and bedroom adjacent to the dining room and were able to feel like we weren't waking the rest of the house... and there were plenty of places to hang out without having to tiptoe around. At one point, the 5 adults who were there, were all reading and napping in different parts of the house while the kids napped! The swingset and sandbox are placed where the shade makes them perfect for kids and my 2 and 5 year old loved throwing rocks in the creek and wading in with their water shoes on! We never ran out of things to do - hiking the trails, exploring the creek, golfing at Wasioto Winds... it is the type of vacation that actually gives you the opportunity to relax, explore the woods and be with your family. My kids had so much fun. What a lovely place. We kept talking about coming back some day to see it all in the fall...Thanks for sharing it.

Big House, Nice Location, Tons of Character

Overall, the house is very nice. Some of the belongings are certainly showing some wear. It's one of the older homes I've stayed in. It has a ton of character. Several places to sit and chat or hang out in, but laid out kind of choppy. No real flow. It is a huge house and certainly worth considering. The property owner could not be nicer! My only negatives have to do with old furniture and kitchen items. A few of the kitchen chairs are unsafe (there is a separate dining room). The pots and pans are nothing short of horrible. We had ONE skillet that was useable to make eggs. Every other one should be thrown away! There is a shortage of mixing bowls or serving bowls. I don't understand why you need 3 coffee makers and yet no nice pots and pans. The positives certainly outweigh the negatives!!! We would stay here again! The firewood was very much appreciated! The beds are fine, bathrooms are nice, stay was very much enjoyable. I really hate to mention anything negative because we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Jim was wonderful. It would be nice to read about the history of this home. Book it if you need a big space.

A sad time for my family

My family had stayed in this home before. We had a wonderful visit and attended our nieces wedding. We recently lost our brother and were fortunate to be able to stay at this home again. We had many other family members staying close by and were able to have them come by after the funeral service. My family is so thankful to have been able to stay in this place. I hope to come back again.

Nice house

We rented this house for 3 families to stay in while we rode sxs at the black mountain off-road park. The house had plenty of space for us inside and plenty of parking room for 3 trucks and trailers. We enjoyed it! Secluded house right off the golf course, a few minutes from town. The property owner contacted us several times to make sure we were happy customers too! Will rent it again for the next trip!

The house on the hill.

Wow, When we arrived at the home, it didn't look that big but once we got inside, the house just kept going. So many rooms! We all walked through exploring and picking out our rooms. Once settled in, we were still exploring the home, all the little hall ways that lead to different areas of the home. The kitchen was good size, as well as the bedroohikiand bathrooms. We took a walk on the walking path, we walked to find a tunnel, along a twisting and turning creek with waterfalls in coming down the hills. The trail was too overgrown to walk up. In the evenings when we got back from riding the twisties, mountains. We would sit in the deck or the front porch and talk about our day, plenty of spacious rooms in the home We all had a great time. Thank you.

Pine Mountain KY Retreat perfect for Families & Groups

First, we would stay here at the Golden’s family home again! We are a family of ten that easily spread out in this historic family home located at the base of Pine Mountain, just 5 minutes from Pineville in Eastern KY. It overlooks a prestigious golf course, and is as close to the state park as you can get without staying at the Park Lodge or cabins. It has its own portion of Asher-Clear Creek running on the property. It is in Daniel Boone country, is near Cumberland Gap and also the birthplace of Harlan Sanders KFC. What more could you want?! The family property has an old railroad / county road running along it that actually connects to Pine Mountain park trails. This trail is full of interesting railroad artifacts including a tunnel, old walking bridge, swimming holes, and natural rock formations. The house itself is like many older family homes, grown over time, full of memories, perfectly clean, a little worn on the edges that only adds to the charm, but equipped with modern conveniences. Jim Golden was always available and easy to contact. We were in a private space away from crowds, and had tons of inside and outside room to explore. The s’mores and wieners at the fire pit, fully equipped with split logs, was a blast. One of our group did some successful catch and release fishing. Some may prefer a 5* hotel, but this was PERFECT for our family. Enjoy!

Beautiful and huge home

This place is great, it was spacious enough for all of us and we real really enjoyed spending our downtime out on the porch. There was quite a lengthy checkout process, which was fine but being that you pay a cleaning fee, we really shouldn't have to strip the beds and start the laundry ourselves. Also the front porch is extremely slippery and so are the steps, so that might need to be addressed as we had someone slip down the stairs and hurt their ankle. There were also a few broken chairs when we arrived that really should be removed or replaced because they are pretty dangerous as well. And the lighting outside is more like strobe lighting which none of us understood and quite frankly gives people headaches and makes it hard to walk through the paths in the front at night. But other than those few things, overall the stay was great.

a large beautiful old home, plenty of gathering area and privacy. Could use some TLC, and maintenance. Several pieces of furniture “chairs” are broken and dangerous. I would suggest removing them before someone gets hurt. But location senerry was perfect

Great spot to explore SE Kentucky

The property is located at the base of a mountain, with a fresh stream going right thru the property. Great hiking access from property, and nearby to Cumberland gap hikes. Building needs a little maintenance here or there, but in general was great. Spacious with tons of room to spread out.

Gorgeous get away

This is a big beautiful home in a perfect location. It is so spacious we had room to spread out and also places where we could come together to chat about the days adventures. By the end of our stay we were so in love with this home that we did not want to leave. We not only plan to stay here again, but will recommend this home to all of our friends and family and anyone who is looking for a getaway in the beautiful mountains of Kentucky.

Why they chose this property

This property was our home until spring of 2008 when we purchased another treasured family home in nearby Pineville. We could not bear to sell this wonderful, secluded home and it gives us great pleasure to allow others to enjoy its many charms.

What makes this property unique

You will have acres to roam all by yourself - part private estate and part forested state park acreage - you and your guests are isolated from the pesky corona bug!
