The special placement in the harbor of Barfleur. The special local activity, the fishing, the inccoming and outgoing of their boats and the unshipping of their charges.
The mild climate and the beauty of tis small ficher-port that has inspired so many painters.

The view on the port and the sea just from the living-room. The marvellous sunrises. Watch the tides just from the sofa.
The granite fronts of the houses inivite ou to take a walk within the village up to the very special normanic church, the sea-rescue station and th 1066 memorial. The flag-ship ofwilliam the conqueror was built at Barfleur and in the middle-age this was the main port for the relation with England.
The beach is not far away. As well as the light-hous of Gatteville. From the hights of "La Pernelle" you have a large view over the region "Val de Saire" and the bay of Saint-Vaast la Hougue with its two Vauban-towers, which are classified World-Cultural-Site, and the island of Tatihou with its famous oyster-parks.
At Cherbourg you can visit the "Cité de la Mer", the "Gare Maritime" where the Titanic had its last stop.
In the south you can find the landing area of the D-Day as Utah-beach or St.-Mère-Eglise
