About this property

Chalet with panoramic Alpine views –private garden- cycling Col de la Madeleine

Detached chalet with uninterrupted panoramic views over the Maurienne Valley and the Alpine mountain range, facing the Belledonne Massif.

The chalet is entirely private. Set within a 3,000 m² wooded garden reserved exclusively for its guests, it enjoys a setting particularly appreciated for mountain holidays: an independent house with no direct overlooking neighbours, surrounded by nature and no immediate neighbours, surrounded by space and nature. It offers a peaceful and unspoilt environment, away from the crowds.

The chalet has retained the spirit of a traditional family mountain holiday home: simple, welcoming and designed for sharing time together, whether for family holidays or get-together with friends in summer or winter.

__________

🌲 A peaceful and unspoilt setting

Set within its garden, the chalet enjoys wide, open views over the surrounding Alpine mountains.

The setting is peaceful and unspoilt, while remaining close to the ski resort as well as the shops and services in the valley, both in summer and winter.

The chalet is easily reached by car via a well-maintained mountain road.

Two vehicles can be parked immediately beside the chalet, with additional parking possibilities along the private driveway.

__________

🏡 A comfortable and practical family chalet

The chalet accommodates up to 9 guests.

With 120 m² of living space spread over three floors and four bedrooms, everyone can enjoy their own sleeping area while still coming together in the shared living areas.

The chalet also includes:
• a large living room with sofas and armchairs gathered around a wood-burning fireplace, available for guests to use during their stay;
• a welcoming dining room;
• a compact, well-equipped and practical kitchen suited to holiday living;
• two bathrooms with toilets.

A selection of board games and books about Savoie and its many attractions is also available.

End-of-stay cleaning and bed linen are included in the rental price.

__________

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family-friendly accommodation

The chalet is well suited to family holidays and children are very welcome.

For babies, a travel cot, high chair and baby bath are provided.

The chalet does, however, have several indoor and outdoor staircases, so close supervision remains necessary with very young children.

__________

☀️ Outdoor spaces and panoramic views

The south-facing balcony enjoys plenty of sunshine and open views across the Maurienne Valley and the Alpine mountain range.

It is an ideal place for meals, reading or simply relaxing while enjoying the mountain scenery during the warmer months.

A retractable awning allows the amount of shade on the balcony to be adjusted.

On the ground floor, a quiet room can also be used as a remote working space, with a desk, power outlets and unlimited Wi-Fi.

⛷️ 🚶‍♂️ 🚴‍♀️ An ideal location all year round

• ≈ 15 minutes from Saint-François-Longchamp Ski Resort
(70 km of ski slopes, 165 km with the linked Valmorel ski area, altitude 1,450–2,550 m)
• ≈ 10 minutes from the Grand Coin Nordic Area – Col du Chaussy
(cross-country skiing and marked snowshoe trails)
• ≈ 10 minutes from Saint-Avre – La Chambre in the Maurienne Valley
(supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, pharmacy and other shops and services)

Located halfway between the valley and the ski resorts, the chalet enjoys an excellent mid-mountain location.

In summer, its elevation provides cooler temperatures than the valley floor, which can be particularly appreciated during periods of very hot weather.

The chalet’s welcome guide includes our suggestions for exploring the surrounding area: villages, lakes, mountain passes, natural sites and other places we have enjoyed over the years, together with ideas for outings suited to different seasons and weather conditions.

🥾 Hiking and nature

The chalet is an excellent base for making the most of the mountains: hiking, swimming, wildlife watching, cycling and exploring traditional Savoyard villages.

The region offers many hiking routes suitable for different levels, as well as several swimming lakes that can easily be reached by car and are particularly enjoyable during the warmer months.

Whether hiking, picnicking, swimming or discovering Alpine landscapes, everyone can enjoy the area at their own pace.

🧀 Savoyard heritage and traditions

Mountain hamlets, villages in the valley, local markets, Savoyard specialities and the traditional cheese dairies of La Chambre offer an opportunity to discover the region’s heritage, local skills and the Maurienne way of life.

🚴‍♀️ Cycling and major Alpine mountain passes

Cycling enthusiasts enjoy direct access to several major mountain passes in the French Alps.

Located on the slopes of the Col de la Madeleine, the chalet gives access to the final 15 km climb to the summit, a legendary Hors Catégorie Tour de France ascent reaching 2,000 metres.

The Col du Chaussy and the famous Lacets de Montvernier are also accessible directly from the chalet.

The chalet is also an excellent base for discovering several other major climbs in the Maurienne and Tarentaise valleys, including the Col du Galibier, Col du Lautaret, Col du Glandon, Col de la Croix de Fer and Col du Télégraphe.

🚲 🏍️ Secure garage for your equipment

For guests exploring the region by bicycle or motorcycle, an enclosed and covered garage is available on request, allowing two-wheel vehicles to be kept sheltered throughout the stay.

🇬🇧 English-speaking host

The host speaks fluent English and is available to assist guests before and during their stay.

The access guide, house manual and practical information are available in English to help international visitors enjoy a smooth and comfortable stay.

🚗 Access and arrival

A car is recommended.

Shuttle services are available to Saint-François-Longchamp Ski Resort and to Saint-Avre–La Chambre railway station, although services are limited in frequency.

A secure key safe allows for flexible self-check-in at the chalet, including late arrivals.

❄️ Winter stays

The chalet is accessible all year round via the mountain road linking the Maurienne Valley to Saint-François-Longchamp, which is regularly cleared of snow during winter.

The final 25 metres are along a private driveway. During heavy snowfall, it may occasionally be preferable to park at the entrance to the driveway.

Both the lower and upper areas of Saint-François-Longchamp offer large free parking areas fo ski days.

Why they chose this property

What makes this property unique
