This is a superb quiet location with lots of options for exploring the area. We were minutes from Mt. Philo State Park which offers a wonderful viewpoint for the setting sun over Lake Champlain. We could see Mt. Philo from our room. We visited local wineries and brew pubs. We also took a ferry across the lake to Essex NY and we climbed to the top of Camel’s Hump. The best was enjoying an evening in the garden near the fire pit and a bottle of local wine.
Thank you so much Oliver for being such a fantastic host . Your home is so peaceful and beautiful.
We had a great stay and appreciate your hospitality.
This was a perfectly situated place, and beautiful! Oliver was a real treat to visit with and learn some local history. Enjoyed our stay and a very nice place to come back to each night and relax.
Thank you for sharing your home!

Gail and Ollie are wonderful hosts, and for this sailor to wash ashore in such a lush landscape/garden setting, all I could do was take it all in. The views, the hosts par excellance, the fire pit, proximity to Champlain, great local eateries, all made this a memorable trip, worthy of repeating! Thank you!
We stayed for 2 nights and found the rooms comfortable and lovely. We loved the sailing decor and learning about our host's sailing adventures. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and spacious. Lovely view of Mount Philo and the location was convenient to Lake Champlain, Mount Philo state park, Shelburne and Burlington (and the ferry to Essex, NY).
Wonderful accommodating hosts with a beautiful property! Loved the fascinating stories and conversation around the evening fire pit, and the helpful suggestions for touring this gorgeous area. Communication was frequent and easy. Shelburne Museum and Shelburne Farms were great local spots we really enjoyed, as well as the summit view at Mt. Philo State Park. Enjoyed local dining venues Backyard Bistro and Barkeaters and enjoyed both meals immensely. Toured the local towns, and drove to Ben & Jerry’s, Stowe and the Trapp Family lodge. Thank you Oliver and Gayle for a lovely Memorial weekend!
We enjoyed our stay on this lovely, clean, well appointed property. Oliver is a fascinating, accommodating man who it would be great to get to talk to more.

We had a very sweet time enjoying this property. It was very peaceful and quiet. The pool table was a wonderful surprise. Unfortunately, while we were there, it was raining so we didn't get to enjoy the Gardens much, but they were beautiful.
Our stay was great. We arrived late at night, and Gayle was very responsive to texts and even stayed up to welcome us when we got there. We would definitely stay again if we find ourselves back in Vermont.
Lovely home with beautiful landscaping and views of the surrounding hills. Very nicely decorated, comfortable. Location was rural but is a quick drive to attractions and into town. Gracious friendly hosts. Special place!
It was a pleasure to stay on Oliver & Gayles lovely property with a clean & comfortable accommodation.

Lovely property, beautiful gardens. Nice accomodations and living space. All was excellent, Oliver and Gayle are both fantastic. Would go back. Also very good food closer than I thought it would be. Didn't need to go back to Burlington. Good closer options. First time in Vermont and want to go back.
We were in town for a wedding and had the perfect stay at Olive's beautiful home. The grounds are so lush and lovely, making a tranquil respite during an otherwise busy weekend. Oliver was gracious and so friendly, but respected our privacy throughout our stay. I wish we had more time getting to know him. What a fascinating backstory his photos and artwork tell! We'll be back for sure.
Location was ideal for us as it was very close to family. Very peaceful and quiet. Enjoyed the time spent with Oliver & Gayle. We’d like to stay there again if we come back to visit family in future years.
The accommodations at the Gardner home were exceptional. Although we missed the peak summer season, it was apparent that the property is absolutely stunning when everything is in bloom. The views from the bedroom and sitting room were beautiful. Can’t say enough good things about Oliver and Gayle, our hosts. Both are very interesting people and wonderful conversationalists. They provided useful insights about the area and we got to know a little about them in our short stay. Oliver was also very accommodating to our needs. We will definitely return in the future.
The location and comfort level of this lovely 1-bedroom were sincerely wonderful, the views serene, and Oliver and Gayle were hospitable and charming, and kept they more than kept our attention with stories of their adventurous and fascinating lives.
We've stayed many times over the years north of Burlington and in the city, but did not have much experience with towns to the south. There are many special spots to visit -- Oliver's advice was on the mark -- and hidden gems to find on your own.
The Gardner's home is a special spot for anyone seeking some respite, access to natural beauty, interesting dining, and country roads that both inspire and calm. Oliver and Gayle are among the best ambassadors for why the VRBO model works so well.
Thanks again Oliver and Gayle.
Where do I start? Upon entering the property, there is designated guest parking right outside the home. We were greeted by the ever-pleasant Oliver who gave us a breakdown of our accommodations and the local areas to visit. The home is extremely clean and comes with anything you’d need for a few wonderful nights. The property is expansive with beautiful grounds and a great view of Mt. Philo.
Oliver provides a binder with ideas of places to go and to eat. Our stay was only a couple days, but we made the most of it. There is nothing more beautiful than catching the sunset from Mt. Philo. Don’t stop at the first overlook when you go, make sure to go to the end and walk the short trail to the last overlook so you can see Lake Champlain.
There is also a guest-to-guest book with great experiences detailed by prior guests as well.
Our only disappointment was that we didn’t get to spend more time at the property and learning about the amazing life that Oliver has lived. The stories he shared in our short visit really makes one want to experience life at its fullest. We plan on coming back, for a longer time, to learn more about the area and to visit longer with Oliver, a clear bastion of knowledge! See you soon Oliver!
Great location. Plenty to see and do around the area. Host has incredible stories and a true community experience. Felt like visiting friends instead of just being a guest
