About the host
Hosted by Malki

I grew up in England, lived the early part of my married life in London and in 1999 my husband and I moved to Sri Lanka with our two children. We have lived in Sri Lanka since then and my architect husband built our dream house in 2008. I am a yoga teacher and welcome any yogis and other nature lovers to our home.
Why they chose this property
When we first saw our plot the land we were taken at how very magical and holistic the area was, with sleeping rubber trees, 360 degree views of surrounding mountainous range, with Bible Rock protecting it at a distance.
My husband dreamed of creating a special retreat for our family and friends, to be more in tune with nature and all it’s surroundings. A place to escape to, from all of the busy pressures of city life.
In 2005 we bought the land and by Dec 2008 the house was complete.

What makes this property unique
The sense of staying at Guava House is that of simple ‘open-plan’ living and kitchen area, open to the breezes and extensive views that the terrace and infinity pool have to offer. It is a thoroughly peaceful environment in which to chill, relax and regain a perspective on what is important in life. It’s a truly wonderful place to just do nothing and spend time talking, discussing and contemplating. Two, separate thatched chalets, built into the side of the sloping terrain add an extra dimension of privacy and peaceful relaxation and can accommodate a further four guests in addition to the three bedrooms in the main house. An open-plan first floor area can be used for a variety of communal uses including additional sleeping area, yoga, exercise classes and games area.
