About this property

Historic Farmhouse and horsefarm with trail riding and a pond.

Our property is a beautifully restored and expanded farmhouse located on scenic Route 6 in northwestern Pennsylvania. The 4-bedroom, 4 1/2 bath farmhouse is located on a working horse farm that covers more than 100 acres. We also have a charming adjoining cabin and chalet, if needed, at additional cost. All accommodations are heated and cooled with our new geo thermal system. We have a sledding hill, a 1.5 mile finished trail great for cross country runs and also a small lake on the property too, perfect for swimming and canoeing. Guided horse back trail rides on our beautiful property are also available, weather permitting.

We rebuilt the Galloping Inn as a labor of love, with the vision of creating an ideal destination for social getaways, unique recreation and enjoyment of the environment. It’s really very special. The farmhouse dates back to the mid 1850's and is one of the oldest structures in the area. When we restored it, we did so with an eye for preservation, style and modern comfort.

The kitchen is awesome. Newly remodeled with all new appliances and features a large granite table that seats ten.

People have come here for many years to escape their everyday routine and to have a stress free experience. It’s a freestanding destination, meaning you can do just about anything you want. The location is very private and there is lots of space so if you share the place with other friends or families, you’ll have plenty of room to yourself. You can play some music, go for a hike, explore the nearby foothills, streams and lakes, cook a big meal, ride horses, whatever makes you happy. The thing everyone seems to appreciate most is the fresh air, freedom and comfortable warmth highlighted by our selection of top quality bedding.

We built a bar in the great room which is adjacent to the kitchen. There is an entertainment room upstairs which is a perfect place for the kids to watch movies (someone was really thinking there). There are two large decks off the back of the house where you can take in the evening sun. And the back lawn is large enough for your choice of outdoor games.

If you feel like doing some exploring, there are lots of things to do nearby. Within a 30 minute drive you can rent boats and cruise the waters of the Allegheny Reservoir, visit the charm of Chautauqua, or enjoy golfing the undulated hills of many great courses including Peek ‘n Peak.

For additional space, you can also rent the cabin, located across the driveway from the farmhouse. It sleeps four people and has a king bed, pullout couch, full bath and kitchenette. It also has a covered porch and overlooks the barn and stables. That rents for $295 for the weekend, $140 each additional night.
The Chalet, up the driveway about 1/8 mile from the farmhouse, overlooks the pond and is very comfortable and spacious. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, open concept kitchen and great room. The chalet rents for $675 a weekend and $250 each additional night.

Give us a call and we’ll tell you more about the place.

Good for our family

The place was perfect for our family gathering, however, the house was pretty run down. That didn't bother anything we had planned. The kitchen was very well stocked. The kids loved having the horses across the lane.We had someone with a cat phobia on the trip, and when I told the property manager about it, she made sure the barn cats were kept in the barn the whole time. Something we really appreciated.

Family getaway

It’s a great space for a large family. With it formerly an inn, the lay out is unique and there are plenty of bathrooms. It’s an old building with a lot of charm. The pond was bigger than I expected and was really fun for the whole family.

Great Place

We stayed there for a family reunion and it was wonderful! The house had enough space for us all and everyone had a blast at the pond. Check in was easy and the host was very responsive when we had a question. The barn was wonderful and offered trail rides many of us took advantage of.

Galloping Inn Getaway

The Galloping Inn provided a wonderful getaway for our family. We enjoyed swimming in the pond, riding horses and sitting around the fire pit until late in the evening chatting and making smores. Thank you for sharing this gem in small town Pennsylvania with us!

Very nice farmhouse! Lots of character.

We had a great experience at the Galloping Inn. The farmhouse was clean, well equipped, and the owners were great to work with. The house has a lot of nice woodwork which gave it great character. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Great property with plenty of room inside and out. Very private and the owners were very responsive. We had a very rainy weekend but the space inside made it a nonissue. The outdoor space was perfect for kids of all ages. Hope to visit again.

Holiday Retreat

Our family spent the Thanksgiving holiday at this property. We rented both the house, sportsman and the cabin for 12 people and had plenty of space. The granite kitchen island is large enough for a group of people to gather and eat. There is plenty of bathrooms and sitting areas for all of us. The highlight of our stay was the grounds. Amazing! The horses and hiking trails was an added bonus to our "Hallmark Holiday"

Memorable experience

Beautiful farm! We had a lovely stay with family, enjoying the horses and the eclipse!! It was a memorable time enhanced by the sweet surroundings and comfortable charming accommodations! The owners were fabulous to work with and the caretakers of the farm were wonderful too. They shared horse rides and conversation about the animals. Really enjoyed our time there! The beauty at the time of the eclipse was even more magical with the animals near by. We will be back😊 thank you!

Loved the outdoors

The property was beautiful and we really loved the hiking, horseback riding, and pond. The farmhouse however was misrepresented in the listing as it has 4 bedrooms and not 5 and sleeps about 18 with all the couches. There were some cleaning issues which we emailed the owner about and she said this would not happen again.

Family Fun at the Farm!

This was a great property for our winter family getaway over the long February weekend. We hiked the property, went trail riding, enjoyed the fireplace and porch swing, and gathered around the huge kitchen table for family meals. Peek 'n Peak snow tubing and pool complex were fun excursions an easy half hour drive away. Accommodations were clean, comfortable and well-stocked. Everyone (three generations) gave it two thumbs up and wants to come back to see it in the fall.

One of the most relaxing vacations

The property and house were beautiful. Imagine getting up every morning, bringing your coffee to the deck and watching the horses in the fields grazing. My idea of heaven. We had a wide range of ages and there was plenty to do, with horse back riding, the pond and the close proximity to Panama Rocks and Peak N Peak. We have been doing family vacations for about three years now, and everyone agreed this was the best.

Amazing beautiful farm house

This farm house is amazing. My 13 year old got to ride in the pond with the horses. Sable was wonderful. She also took the younger ones on a ride around the pond. The went for a ride in the canoe. The house was very clean and relaxing. Everyone had a great time! Can't wait to book for next year.

Fantastic for families!

Jennifer went out of her way to accommodate the dates our family needed for our stay. She was very helpful in keeping us abreast of current PA regulations during this time of uncertainty with COVID 19. The property suits the needs of a multi-family group. The barn manager was very friendly and accommodated us for trail rides with the horses. This is the 2nd stay at Galloping Inn for our family & certainly won’t be our last!

Family Fun

From the campfires and hikes to roaming the barn and riding horses. Our large family, kids ranging newborn to 8, had an amazing time. The huge yard and covered porches meant we could stay outside, even when it was raining. The fully stocked kitchen allowed us to make our big family style meals. And the barn staff couldn’t have been more wonderful to chat with and accommodating to the kids. This was a trip to remember. Thank you!

horse lover's dream

We enjoyed this farmhouse so much. It was spacious and cozy. We appreciate the energy efficiency of the house with geothermal heating, pellet stoves. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. Our grandchildren had horse rides under the gentle care of Becca and had a marvelous experience. The horses are so friendly and gentle. We also enjoyed hiking the nature trails. We had just enough snow to go sledding down the sledding hill before the snow melted!

A "Devine" Experience at The Galloping Inn

The Galloping Inn provided a wonderful halfway point for us Ohio Devines to meet our Boston son and his family during these challenging Covid times. The farmhouse and property were lovely, clean, and spacious. We enjoyed some horseback riding under Leslie's excellent guidance, hiked the beautiful trails during the day, and spend most evenings relaxing by the fire pit. Tom and Callie, the two cuddly barn kitties, added another cozy touch to all our backyard activities. Jennifer did a super job answering any questions we had! Thank you for a fabulous, relaxing stay and for the opportunity to create many fond family memories!

Great location for 4 generation family reunion

Our family of 20 spent 4 nights. We ranged in age from 11 to 87 and came from all across the US. It was so great to all be together but yet have our own space. The 80 year olds stayed in the cabin - which worked out perfectly since it has no steps. We ate all our meals in - splitting between the farmhouse and chalet depending who was cooking. We enjoyed everything that was available - horseback riding, swimming, hiking, a bonfire and just visiting on the chalet deck or farmhouse back porch. During the warmer afternoons, our group completed two 1000 piece puzzles which were in the chalet. This was the perfect place for all of our family to be together.

Relaxing and Expansive

We had a great time with family. The property is fantastic with a huge backyard. Lots of space for yard games. Our kids (and the adults) loved the pond. So nice to have a private beach with a shelter (that is electrified). The trails were nicely maintained and we appreciate the efforts of the owners to control water (drain tiles/culverts). If you're looking for activities try The Pale Whale for tubing on the Clarion River (a little more than an hour south), Southern Tier Brewing Company about a half hour north, and Niagara Falls (definitely do the Maid of the Mist). The beds were comfy and the bedrooms were huge. Ample bathrooms and a giant island in the kitchen. The grill is top notch (gas from the house so no worries about propane tanks) and we enjoyed several meals on the deck. Very relaxing

I first fell in love with the property when my husband and I were dating in 1999. We soon bought the chalet in 2000 and completed work on that. Then, In 2007, we bought the barn, the cabin and the farmhouse and put in the pond, trails and rebuilt the barn. I absolutely love the outdoors and it's been the perfect weekend and summer get away with our children and dogs. Every year we enjoy it more and more.

Why they chose this property

We originally visited this property when it was a bed and breakfast called Spring Valley. We loved the place so much, we later bought it and turned it into the Galloping Inn.

What makes this property unique

It's really just a great place to spend quality time together. Its a beautiful, peaceful setting with lots of room. We can accommodate large groups (up to 24 people) if you add on the cabin and chalet.
