Disliked: Cleanliness, communication, listing accuracy
"Well it could be zero"
Arrived at 4:15PM to a house that had not been cleaned. Wet towels on the floor, trashcans full beds unmade. Called the management company but no answer. Called owner, Scott, who was surprised to hear this, apologized, and said he would make a call and get back to me. 10 minutes later he called to tell me that the cleaners would arrive in 30 minutes and take 2 hours to clean the house. Not staying while they cleaned – had to wait until after 7PM – after traveling 12 hours. Scott said his wife and friends stayed there before us “so this wasn’t a big deal”. After minimizing the issue, then asked if I wanted to pay more $ to extend the stay. I declined due to other obligations. I asked what he was going to do for us to make up for the dirty house. He got frustrated. I asked for half a night’s stay $300. He balked and offered $100. I shared with him that I have rented through VRBO across the globe for over a decade and never walked into a dirty house. He then said, “Well, it could be zero?” Accountability, professionalism, and hospitality were non-existent.
Dirty after cleaning-all pots & pans had to be scrubbed, grill disgusting & unusable
Multiple electrical outlets without covers
Television remote control without batteries
Old home compared to neighbors – needs maintenance
