Peaceful and Wonderful Holiday House
My family had a wonderful stay in Jennifer's beautiful house, located in a peaceful setting. The surroundings are beautiful for taking walks and enjoying the rolling hills, the stars at night are gorgeous and bright and there are plenty of animals to admire. We even saw a barn owl hunting at dusk when we sat outside on the terrace.
The terrace was our favorite place to be - it ran the length of the house and was covered so we could even sit there when it rained. We loved spending relaxing time at the house but its location also allowed for some fabulous outings. There are very old castles and churches within a reasonable distance and even some fascinating caves.
Jennifer was a pleasure to communicate with and the house was equipped with everything necessary and then some! We enjoyed table tennis and the outdoor games she had stored in the house.
All in all, it was a wonderful holiday in a beautiful setting and we would even do it again!

Characterful barn conversion
A lovely rural location to get away from it all. Located in an untouristy part of Burgundy. The house is simply furnished but you have everything you need. Some low beams, so if you are tall, watch out. To the rear of the property is an open lawn which is great for games including a purpose built boule area. There is a veranda where you can sit out and eat.... especially sunny in the morning. No TV or internet which it good if you want to cut yourself off.
The area is quite flat, so really well suited to cycling. You can cycle for miles through countryside and small villages. Romenay is a small town with a supermarket which is 20 minutes away on a bike or 5 minutes in the car. There are two slightly larger towns, Tournus and Louhans within 20 minutes by car..... one to the east and one to the west of the property.
No TV or internet.... which is good if you want to cut yourself off !
The owner is a friendly English lady who has lived in the area for a number of years and can help you with any questions you have.

An escape from the city
Having missed out on a summer holiday, my partner and I decided to take an early Autumn break. We wanted to drive from the UK, and as wine buffs we wanted to be in the Burgundy or Beaujolais area. This house is not in the middle of the vineyards, but we were attracted by the rural location and promised tranquility, and we were able to make three visits to wine zones during our stay (Macon, Pouilly Fuissé; Lugny; Beaune). The house itself is impressive in size, has wonderful features (beams, stone walls, wood-framed brickwork, and has more than enough of everything in the open kitchen. The Bresse terrace is a wonderful traditional way of whiling away hours with a book or a game, and we were lucky enough to have plenty of warm days to sit out. This house is not for people looking for bright lights, wild nights out, or glamour...but as City people, it was just perfect for us. We both had an email free week, slept soundly - it is so quiet! - and I finally read some of the books I've bought over the last couple of years. As the owner says - it is a great place for winding down, and getting-away from it all.

Special family gathering
Lovely house which is very spacious and spotlessly clean, the owner met us on arrival and she made our family of 10 feel very welcome , the area itself was just how the owner described, perfect for walks around rural france, The garden itself is something else, huge with lots of wildlife including a family of 5 deers living at the bottom, my children thought they were on safari. The petanque court is also a plus.
Were booking again to see it in the summer and all looking forward to it.

Idyllic Country Retreat
We have just enjoyed another visit to this lovely property in the French countryside. Our first visit was in winter, but we did want to see what the cottage offered in summer. We weren’t disappointed as we were able to spend most of the time relaxing in the grounds of the property. The Petanque court provided us with hours of fun and the badminton and mini croquet kept us at the property longer than we intended. The house has plenty of space and after a hard day of playing games, what better way than to soak in the Jacuzzi? There is a nice walk to the Water Mill 10 minutes away and the nearest village La Chepelle-Thecle is about 20 minute walk, the bakery providing us with the classic French start to the mornings, croissants and pan au chocolat! There is also a bar in the village which we sampled more than once. A little further afield we visited both Cuisery and Tournus, both places worth a visit. These are where we stocked up on supplies as we were more than happy to spend time at the cottage. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to unwind for the week and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the French countryside, or playing family games long into the summer nights, just like we did. We will certainly be returning.
