About this property
Holiday Home, Ocean View
This is our self catering holiday home, and we are always excited to share our little piece of paradise with guests. Enjoy sweeping views over our garden of both the ocean and mountains from the deck while sipping on sundowners, or opt for the solar heated pool and braai/ barbecue area. Great pitstop from which to explore the winelands of Somerset West, Franschoek and Stellenbosch, and one hours drive to Hermanus. Or just walk to the beach or hike in the lesser known town of Gordon's Bay. The house also has DSTV Premium and Wifi for those who prefer to stay in. We love it here, and hope you will too.
The house consists of a dining area, lounge, kitchen and three bedrooms upstairs: one master with a King bed en suite; one bedroom with a double bed; and one bedroom with two single beds. There is one separate bathroom upstairs with a shower and bath. Downstairs, there is one bedroom with 2 bunk beds and a second lounge and pool table that leads out onto the pool, garden and barbeque area.
We also now have an additional third outdoor bathroom with shower.

About the host
Hosted by Mihail

Myself (Mihail) and my partner (Cat) love this city:) I've been running a restaurant/pub for the last 20 years, and Cat is an artist, so between the two of us we can highly recommend Cape Town's food, wine and buoyant art scenes which compete with the best in the world (even better in terms of value for money). This is an added bonus to the beauty, outdoor, and famous sights in this part of the world. We both feel that we've only explored the tip of what to see and do (and eat) here, and hosting is proving to be the most satisfying way to learn more about the city itself and plan our own travels to other parts of the world in the future.
Why they chose this property
We love Gordon's Bay because it is really charming and low key. Walk to the beach, have breakfast or lunch by the sea, sleep it off and then braai, relax and swim if the weather permits. When the weather in Cape Town is good in summer, this is the one place you can swim in the sea without freezing (this was the number one reason we fell in love with the place).
There is the Steenbras hiking trail to Crystal Pools, but you need to get a permit, especially when it's high season. There are also plenty of stables in the area, for those who like horse riding.
Wine farms are aplenty (booking essential), most notably Idiom (a must visit for food lovers :), and Vergelegen Wine Estate, which is great for families and has two nice restaurants to choose from (Stables and Cafe Fleur).
Other interesting eateries include:
Pyjama and Jam eatery (in the industrial area, not what you’d expect - think it’s still first come, first serve, but call to ask - great for breakfast, cheese cake dessert)
HUSK (Recently opened, by the sea, casual)
Elgin Railway Market (definitely recommend - great for family and kids, lots of food to choose from)
Hickville Smokehouse - American style barbecue/ casual (booking necessary)
The Thirsty Oyster - local pub vibe with sea views, Gordon’s bay, by Bikini Beach, for fish, chip, salad combos)

What makes this property unique
We aimed for a relaxed vacation home, with everything you'd need if you were at home (as much as possible:). Our deck is ideal for enjoying sundowners, barbecue area is great for outdoor dining, and pool is always enjoyed by both adults and kids.
