We loved staying at this Cabin. It was very clean and came with all the needed amenities for a great weekend trip to the mountains. We loved the location!
Amazing riverfront location, pristine nature on all 4 sides, and in the middle of all local attractions, no long drives! Add to this well designed and decorated with love house, and you cannot have a better rental!
We loved our stay at Papa Bears River Cabin. The deck was amazing for star gazing and total relaxation. While the fish were not biting, we still appreciated being directly on the river. Loved exploring the area and coming back to all the comforts of home.
We Love this home. Everything about this property is peaceful snd inviting. This was our 3rd vacation at Papa Bears and we cannot wait to return! Super clean and comfortable. Communication with the owner was immediate. The daily visits from the deer and turkeys were a plus. A1 rating . We dream about owning a cabin exactly like Papa Bears someday soon.

Comfortable, quiet, spacious and well-appointed
Stayed for a weekend in late summer. Beautiful property with very responsive owners. Plenty of room in the primary bedrooms, and has a well-equipped kitchen. The only improvement we could suggest is adding a window-air conditioner in the upstairs bedroom, as it gets a bit warm, even with the AC set at 70 degrees. We would definitely stay here again!
Our much anticipated five-day fall escape to Papa Bear’s River Cabin on the Shenandoah River did not disappoint. Two couples in our seventies found the cabin to be tastefully decorated for the season, extremely comfortable, and totally equipped for our every need. The hosts were available if needed, but not intrusive. Instructions were clearly explained and easily followed. We would love to return in the future. Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise, Ron and Bonnie!

Great Relaxing Getaway!
We just spent the Christmas Holiday weekend at Papa Bear's River Cabin and had an absolute blast. The cabin was exactly what we wanted and we felt so recharged. There were 4 of us two adults, a 2 year old and 7 month old. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a saucer for the baby. They also had a preschooler table and toys that my 2 year old enjoyed. My husband and I loved sitting in the hot tub looking out at the river. While there we also spent one day at the water park at Massanutten which we all loved. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Everything and more!
We celebrated our wedding anniversary with our son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandsons and couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodations!!! Very clean and warmly decorated. The kitchen is well appointed and the beds were very comfortable. The hot tub was an extra treat - if the fireplace or fire pit didn't warm your bones the hot tub sure did. The kids loved their first attempt at fishing and we all sat around the bonfire making S,mores and roasting hotdogs. Great place to stay and the owners are very responsive and sweet. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us and for the special anniversary surprise :) Carol, Doug and Family
Papa Bear's Cabin is lovely. The cabin is exactly as it appears in the photographs. The property is very large and the atmosphere is peaceful. Our stay was short & sweet, so we did not get to use the hot tub or the outdoor fire pit. The fire pit was fully stocked with wood. The inside is cozy and inviting. We enjoyed the fireplace in the family room. All of the bedrooms were the perfect size and we all slept well. The cabin is about a 25 minute drive to the ski slopes and Luray Caverns is just down the road. I recommend Gathering Grounds Patisserie Cafe in Luray for anyone looking for a place to grab coffee or lunch.

Papa Bear's River Cabin Delivered!
This cabin was exactly our two families--4 adults + 3 boys (ages 4-8)--needed...a break from the routine and time outdoors. We brought river rafts, water shoes and some inexpensive fishing gear and ate most of our meals at the picnic table by the fire pit. Many firsts for our crew including: 1st time fishing where the boys caught their 1st fish and the 1st tubing experience. Despite some rain and unseasonably cool July weather, we spent almost all of our time outside and loved every minute of it! We brought some firewood in and were happy to see a pile provided by the owners because our little ones at s'mores for lunch and dinner :)

Lovely location. Great for families.
We got what we were promised and then some! Working with the owners was easy and pleasant. We spent a long weekend in the area visiting the Battle of New Market for the 150th anniversary of the battle and the Endless Caverns. Best of all was having such a beautiful place to stay. There were lots of toys for the children, but we enjoyed the outdoors most of all. The children loved opening and closing the gate at the road, running around, throwing rocks in the river, and roasting marshmallows for s'mores The one trouble we had was finding a food store. We did find one when we went out for dinner the first night. It was not what we are used to. Next time, I would bring more of my own food. One of our favorite things was the gas fire place. We used it to warm up the cool mornings and relax by at night. If we were in the area again, we would come back. It was a bit of an adventure for us - especially with the unusual amount of rain that had fallen before we arrived, partially flooded the road and flowed over the banks of the river (no where near the house). It was fun!
My husband and I booked papa bears to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The cabin was absolutely perfect. A little slice of heaven for sure and we already can not wait to come back. The hosts were very attentive and responsive and check in and out was a breeze. Thanks for making our anniversary memories so special. See you again!
I stayed at this property with my family, including four children two of whom are babies. The place wasn’t cleaned properly before our arrival. The floors were visibly dirty, and we even found personal items left behind by previous guests, which made us question the hygiene standards right away, including popcorn in the sofa. One of the beds was covered in some kind of sticky residue, which was disgusting. The drywall wasn’t finished and the property was infested with invasive spotted lanternflies. They were everywhere on the porch and kept finding their way inside the house, creating a constant battle to keep them out. During our stay, we lost both power and water, which was incredibly inconvenient with babies in tow who need reliable access to basic essentials. I ended up being late to my best friend’s wedding, and couldn’t be a bridesmaid because of this. Despite this major disruption, we weren’t offered a partial refund. The neighbors were blasting music every single night, until 3 AM. This made it impossible to get a good night’s sleep. One of the checkout requirements was to clean up the property ourselves, which we did thoroughly. But why on earth were we charged a cleaning fee when the place wasn’t even clean when we got there? It seems hypocritical and unfair.
I loved that there was no other homes nearby that we could see The cabin was beautiful and so was the river we enjoyed the wildlife all around The caverns were also fun to visit
The house and property exceeded our expectations and our family enjoyed our stay. The bugs were pretty bad near the river but the large catfish catches made it worth it.
Stayed for Thanksgiving holiday with adult kids who live in VA. Perfect place for families of all ages. House was cozy, clean, well appointed and location on river was fantastic and short drive to Luray. Would definitely stay againd.
We stayed at this cabin for a few days and had a wonderful time. We loved the large yard and fire pit, and the river is very peaceful and serene. There is a semi-busy road behind the property, but it was not a problem for us. Access to the river is a little difficult as the bank is very high, but it didn't detract from our enjoyment.
